The Advantages and Disadvantages of Incorporating AI into Writing As technology advances, the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) has become much more prevalent, so much so that it has now integrated into our daily lives. As AI’s popularity continues to grow, the ongoing debate on whether or not it should be permitted in writing becomes more prominent. This essay explores some of the advantages and disadvantages of using AI in writing, based on the rhetorical analysis of 5 AI written essays. All of the thesis statements that were provided by AI were all phrased with a clear explanation of the subsequent paragraphs content. One example is provided in the following: Prompt: “Write a one-page college level essay about how changing our diet to a whole food plant-based diet benefits our health in the aspect of circulatory disease and prostate cancer. What changes could be made to help the U.S. be able to rely more on plant protein rather than animal protein and better our health as a country?” AI Thesis: “Adopting a whole-food, plant-based diet has gained increasing recognition for its positive impact on human health, particularly in reducing the risk of circulatory diseases and prostate cancer. This essay explores the benefits of such a dietary shift, delving into its potential implications for public health and suggesting changes that could promote a nationwide transition towards plant-based sources.” As you read, the AI’s thesis statement effectively directed the reader on what to anticipate in the paragraphs that followed. It covered all aspects of the prompt, expressing the ideas in a well-formatted manner.
