The dogs of war by Michael Paterniti is an informative and heartwarming article about handler Marine Corporal Jose Armenta and his dog Zenit. And how handlers and dogs are trained without each other and how they are trained with each other. The way that Micheal Paterniti writes is excellent and well written but it is even better with the pictures, the pictures tie everything together.
The relationship between Christopher and his father is extremely sensitive. One moment Christopher’s father lashes out towards him, and the next moment they visit the zoo together, enjoying each other’s company. Because of the Asperger’s, Christopher prefers to do his own thing without interaction from other people. He especially disgusts anyone telling him what to do. Christopher thinks his father interferes in his life while his father tries to be involved in it as much as possible, causing agony to Christopher. The article The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time states, “Eventually, his father comes to get him, and tells Christopher to not investigate the dog’s death any further.” One could debate that Christopher’s father does
In the end both of these articles both have ideas about policies that need to be put in place. Even know they may come from different prospectives they both have the same idea of keeping citizens safe. I hope that eventually some of the policies they have came up with are put into place. I guess we will just have to wait and see what happens.

First Friend: A History of Dogs and Humans, by Katherine Rogers, articulates the history of the relationship between dogs and humans. Wild Justice: The Moral Lives of Animals, by Marc Bekoff and Jessica Pierce, investigates if and how dogs exhibit morality. In both texts, anecdotes and observations are used to portray instances of dogs displaying cooperation, empathy, altruism, and, by extension, morality. Consequently, it stands to reason that dogs have a capacity for sociality, but how can the sociality of dogs be described? A dog’s capacity for sociality is the ability to form long term relationships with members of the same or other species. Dogs, in particular, dogs who hunt as well as dogs who play, are able to form long term relationships with humans and other dogs through trust, love,
Throughout the world there are many different countries that contain diverse cultures, religions, and life styles. There is however certain aspects within these countries and cultures that acts as a common ground between one another. One dominant aspect is the existence of dogs within these cultures. Dogs are common throughout the world, either as a domestic pet, a protector on a farm, or an assistant for hunting; amongst others. Regardless of the reason for having a dog most people have either owned one for themselves or has known somebody who has owned one at some point in their life. Despite the relative normality of having a dog in your life in one way or another, the reasons for dogs coming into existence is not common knowledge among most people. Throughout a great portion of mankind’s history dogs have been an essential part of life. The truth is dogs were actually created in part by man. It was evolution from wolves in the form of natural and artificial selection that brought dogs into existence (Harris 3). This is the most modern and widely excepted theory at this time, however this was not always the case considering the theory of evolution in of itself is relatively new in our society. After evolution as a theory was accepted there were several other variations on the theory such as, the evolution being from jackals opposed to wolves, and artificial selection being the only form of evolution to have taken place. According to Jarret A Lobell and Eric A Powell of Archaeology magazine “The idea that dogs were domesticated from jackals was long ago discarded in favor of the notion that dogs descend from the gray wolf (2)”. As for the theory that artificial selection ...
The inadequate knowledge of dog psychology in owners not only unveils their neglect of responsibility, but models their poor assessment in dog behavior pertaining to the individual breed; in addition, it confirms their shortage of precautionary measures to suppress aggression within the dog. In Dawn Kapp’s “It’s More About Owner Than Dog,” owners overlook their incapacity to meet the desires of the certain breed. When a person acquires an animal, its essential to acknowledge all “responsibility.” And by this, owners must study about the precise breed, it’s personality type and be able train and “socialize” them. Some owners however, discount the need to adjust early signs of dis...

Who do you consider your best friend? Is it the person you grew up with? Is it your husband or wife? For many it is someone that is always they’re for them when sad or lonely, or when one needs to talk, cry, or laugh. However, thousands of Americans are turning to their dogs for a favorite companion. This paper will explore the enduring phrase “Man’s Best Friend” and the loyalty, faithfulness, intelligence, and companionship shared by dogs and masters that make this statement true.
“A dog is a man’s best friend” goes much deeper than the phrase might initially imply. Recently many medical journals have begun to identify with the many and varied benefits of pet ownership. Men have always relied upon animals for work, transportation, and survival. As times have changed, man has begun to appreciate a different bond with animals. Gone are the days of animals running free outside around the homestead, for now animals are allowed inside and are considered by many to be an integral part of our daily lives! Medical studies have found that animals have a much greater intelligence level than originally thought. Through proper training and experience, animals are not only household pets, but also are becoming an accepted form of medical treatment.

There are several similarities that dogs and cats share. One being that they both require love and affection from their owners. These two animals are the most common pets in our society to this day. Some prefer the company of a cat, while others are considered dog lovers. I on the other hand am a dog lover. I consider a dog not only a pet, but a best friend as well. I have personally experienced the friendship that forms between an owner and their dog, and I can assure you that I will forever cherish the memories that I, and my dog Cubby have shared in the 16 years we were lucky enough to have spent with one another. Through the various aspects of each animal, I will determine the similarities and differences each pet holds, and in the mean
Pet were found in over 14.6 million in the UK homes due to single households and households comprised of couples without children tend to have pets as replacements for a partner or children (Euromonitor International, 2014a; Euromonitor International, 2014b). In fact, humans and animals have already been associated deeply for a long time, in which animals have been manifested in a variety forms such as food, servant and enemy. Nevertheless, a review of literature has identified the main reasons for this enduring association is companionship such as friends, family members, and owner’s self. Working Party Couticil for Science and Society (1988), cited by Hirschman (1994), emphasises that the animal is "perceived and treated as a subject, as a personality in its own right." Similarly, Feldmann (1979), cited by Hirschman (1994), also proposes that animals are “faithful, intimate, noncompetitive, and nonjudgmental” friends and often even better than human friends. In addition, animal companionship can satisfy humans with deeply needed emotional support and share lasting relationship (Bogdan and Taylor, 1989 cited by Sanders, 1990; Savishinsky, 1986 cited by Hirschman, 1994). Therefore, people devote time, energy and love to their pets and enjoy the happiness brought by their pets. This increasingly develops into a mutually evolving relationship and they can communicate in nonverbal ways based on mutual understanding and experience (Hirschman, 1994). On the other hand, animal companion can also be an extension of human’s self and the owner’s self-perception (Feldmann, 1979 cited by Hirschman, 1994; Belk, 1998; Sanders, 1990). Hirschman (1994) labels this from as “persona perception” that ...
Humans interact better with companion animals because they provide emotional and social support. Animals like dogs and cats provide physical and emotional benefits to their owners and are completely faithful to them. People who desire and lack love and affection from their family members and friends can be satisfied from their pets that they share close bond with. Hal Herzog gives an example in "Animals Like Us" about how women respect and love their pets, "A report by the American Animal Hospital Association found that 40 percent of the women they surveyed said that they got more affection from their dogs than from their husbands or children" (246). Pets, such as dogs, offer more company and support to humans than humans do to each other. Pets have the ability to stimulate their caregivers by giving them company and coping up with emotional issues. People are too busy taking care of themselves and forget that there are family members that need them, but companion animals fulfill all the needs and wants of people t...
