These passages present a discussion about arguments concerning meat eating. This is an important debate for animal lovers and vegans alike because of the serious challenges eating meat poses to them. The two positions argue whether or not people should eat meat. Both viewpoints have valid claims warranting consideration. For example, evidence indicates that eating meat is unhealthy. In contrast, opposing evidence suggests that it is actually beneficial to one's health. While both sides of the issue have valid points, the claim that people should eat meat is the stronger position, the position supported by the preponderance of the evidence cited in the passages. The most convincing and forceful points in support of this position are that eating meat is part of the natural circle of life, eating meat is helps provide healthy nutrition, and eating meat helps people get saturated fats and vitamin B12. …show more content…

For example, researcher Cleve Backster has shown that plants can respond to threats and perhaps feel fear. Therefore, vegetarians cause harm to plants every time they eat. As an additional point, every organism is either killed or dies in order for new organisms to live, and as a consequence, nothing is wrong with this cycle. Old life must die to make way for new life. The second relevant point to make in support of the claim that eating meat is good for people is that eating meat helps provide healthy nutrition. In support of this point, one serving of meat has every key amino acid essential to our health present in it, and in addition, has other essential nutrients. To further support this point, many plant-based foods will not provide this amount of nutrients in one serving.
