Think of your brother or sister, or your daughter or son. What if they didn’t exist? What if they were aborted? Well in some cases, to many people around the world, they live without a sibling or child because of abortions. Well, my argument paper is on how abortion should be illegal in the United States. If you don’t know what abortion is, abortion is the ending of pregnancy by removing a fetus or embryo before it can survive outside the uterus. For 2010, 2011 and 2012 the total abortions together was 51,923,070. It is important to know about this topic because little innocent babies are getting killed everyday just because there parents don't want them or can't take care of them. Abortion should be illegal because abortion is murder, abortions …show more content…
reduce the number of adoptable babies, and abortion may lead to future medical problems for the mother. Abortion shouldn’t be legal because abortion is murder.
One fact is, “The killing of an innocent human being is wrong, even if that human being has yet to be born. Unborn babies are considered human beings by the US government as well.” (ProCon.org Con 1). As a matter of fact, they also state “The federal unborn union of violence states, "to protect unborn children from assault and murder," states that under federal law, anybody intentionally killing or attempting to kill an unborn child should "be punished... for intentionally killing or attempting to kill a human being." (ProCon.org Con 1). Knowing these two facts, will definitely keep you thinking about how child abortion is murder. Another fact is “It should be noted that under a legal definition of murder, legal abortion would not fit the requirements. In other words, under the law of man instituted by civil government, abortion is not unlawful and would not be defined as murder. However, it should also be noted that the death of an unborn child can be legally counted as murder if there is premeditation” (ProCon.org Con 1). With these three facts about how abortion is murder, I believe that abortion is terrible for the women and for the child. For these reasons I have stated, I firmly think that abortion should be illegal in the United
States. Abortion reduces the number of adoptable babies. One fact is, “Instead of having the option to abort, women should give their unwanted babies to people who cannot conceive. The percentage of infants given up for adoption in the United States declined from 9% of those born before 1973 to 1% of those born between 1996 and 2002.” (ProCon.org Con 7). Another fact that shows how abortion reduces the amount of adoptable babies is, “As a result of the lack of women putting their children up for adoption, the number of US infant adoptions dropped from about 90,000 in 1971 to 18,000 in 2007. Around 2.6 million American women were trying to adopt children as of 2002, according to the US Department of Health and Human Services.” (ProCon.org Con 7). Since a lot of abortions are happening and more people are wanting to adopt because they can’t produce… instead of abortions why not put him/her up for adoption? One other fact is “Abortions range from hundreds to thousands of dollars, depending on your stage of pregnancy. Conversely, not only is adoption free, but you may also receive living expenses from the adoptive family to help you cover pregnancy-related expenses such as rent, food, utilities, transportation and more.” (American Adoptions 1). Therefore with these three facts, I believe that adoptions come before abortions. For all those people out there that can’t produce or can’t afford all of the hospital bills, want a child. Without them we won't find homes for these kids and without these kids we can't help the people who want children. If you don't want your baby, don't abort it, give it to someone who can take care of it and wants to. Abortion may lead to future medical problems for the mother. The first fact for this is, “A June 2003 study published by the peer-reviewed International Journal of Epidemiology estimated that about 15% of first-trimester miscarriages are attributed to a prior history of induced abortion, and stated that "Induced abortion by vacuum aspiration is associated with an increased risk of first-trimester miscarriage in the subsequent pregnancy." (ProCon.org Con 16). Another fact that goes along with how abortion could harm the mother is, “A 2013 Chinese study published in the peer-reviewed Indian Journal of Cancer found an association between breast cancer and a history of abortions” (ProCon.org Con 16). The last fact that I have found is, “A Feb. 2014 study published in the peer-reviewed Cancer Causes and Control found that abortion "is significantly associated with an increased risk of breast cancer" and that "the risk of breast cancer increases as the number of abortions increases." (ProCon.org Con 16). In Conclusion, to how abortion may lead to future medical problems for the mother, I strongly advise that if you are thinking about having an abortion, think again.
Abortion, which is defined as a deliberate termination of a human pregnancy, is one of the most controversial issues in society. Many people believe that abortion is unethical and morally wrong, while others believe that it is a woman’s right to decide what to do with her body. According to www.census.gov, “the number of abortions performed annually in the U.S. has leveled off at 1.2 million a year” (1). This statistic supports how many women are choosing abortion. Although abortion is legal in the United States, many people continue to voice their opinions on how it is a human rights violation and should be illegal everywhere. The practice of abortion should be banned in society because it terminates the life of an innocent unborn child, causes long-term emotional effects, as well as major health risks for women who opt for abortion.
When you read this dialogue do you know what abortion is? If you are like me then you are definitely confused! Like how do you even put yourself in this situation? You have the ability to search websites and figure out more information. While reading and searching how does an abortion affect the woman’s Body? Will an Abortion Affect me being able to have a child in the future?
Abortion has been considered a controversy in the United States for many years. Abortion is the “expulsion of the fetus from the uterus.” (Robert H. Lauer) There are two different types of abortion, miscarriage and induced abortion. Women decided to have abortions for many different reasons and use it as a birth control plan. Many women decide that they can’t have the baby due to schooling, work, money and other responsibilities. Also, many women decide not to have the baby because they are single and don’t want to raise the child alone. (Robert H. Lauer) Although abortion has been legal in the United states recently, it was not legal in many states until 1973. (Thomson Reuters)
Abortion is the process of terminating a pregnancy by removing the embryo or fetus before birth. Since abortion became legal in the United States in 1973 after the Roe v. Wade trials, there has been many disputes and debates on whether or not the practice of abortion is ethical or not. While many people believe that a woman should have the right to her own body and be able to terminate her pregnancy if she desires to do so, others argue that it is murder. There are many arguments for and against abortion. My points in this paper for the PROs of abortions are #1, Abortions Procedures and #2, women’s rights. I will talk about how abortion being legal offers a safe abortion procedure, and how and why it is a woman 's right to choose what is best
Abortion, defined as the intentional termination of a pregnancy, is one of the most highly debated liberties of all time. Approximately one to three million abortions are performed each year. Women receive abortions for reasons such as rape, teen pregnancy, and health concerns. Unfortunately, it is a liberty that some still wish to eradicate due to religious beliefs and misconceptions. Abortion should remain a legal option for women because illegal abortions result in far more fatalities, religion does not serve as grounds for a law, and most importantly, there is no conclusive evidence that a fetus is equal to a human being.
How would you feel if someone decided that you should never get a chance at life? That
Abortion has been a controversial topic in the U.S ever since it became legal in 1973 after the Roe v. Wade case. Abortion is defined as the, “the deliberate termination of a human pregnancy, most often performed during the first 28 weeks of pregnancy.” Pro-life supporters believe that abortion is unethical and argue that it is the mother’s responsibility to own up to her actions. They also argue that there is always the option of adoption, and that abortion could be very dangerous. I am pro-life and believe that the government doesn’t have the right to decide what a woman can or can’t do with her body.
The murder of innocents or, a woman’s right to choose; the Pro-Life/ Pro-Choice Debate, Which side are you on? The issue of abortion has been a topic of interest not only in the medical world but also in the political and religious worlds as well. The pro-life argument states that at conception the fetus is a baby and terminating it is taking a life. The pro-choice argument states that the unborn fetus, not baby, is just a blob of tissue and your terminating a pregnancy not a child. Both sides of the argument will be discussed in this essay along with the views of the church, politicians, women who have had abortion, and even a women who use to worked for Planned Parenthood.
Abortion is one of America’s most controversial subjects. The participants in this debate have fixed beliefs on the matter at hand. On one side of the debate are people who believe in pro- choice. They argue that choice of a woman is more important than an unborn fetus. They point out that an unborn child is not on the same level of importance as the mother. Also, the pro-life group declares that choice is the sole purpose behind their argument. They believe that if a woman cannot chose to abolish a pregnancy, then she looses one of her basic human rights. The other side of the debate is the pro-life group. Their main concern is that the fetus is a person; therefore, having the same human rights as the mother. As a result, when states pass laws that enable abortions, these states are legalizing murder. When considering an individual’s ethics and values, killing is morally wrong. Therefore, the termination of unborn children is wrong, as well. Abortion, the unethical expulsion of an embryo or fetus, in order to purposely end a pregnancy, should be forbidden because human life begins at conception, economics is not a justification for abortion, and an unwanted child does not justify abortion.
One of the most controversial issues in this day and age is the stance people take on abortion. The two main positions that people take are either of pro-choice or pro-life; both sides, although polar opposites, tend to refer to both the issue of morality and logical rationale. The pro-life side of the debate believes that abortion is an utterly immoral practice that should be abolished. On the contrary, abortion should remain a legal procedure because it is a reproductive right; its eradication would not only take away the pregnant person’s autonomy, but would also put more children in financially unstable homes and the adoption system, and would cause an increase in potentially fatal, unsafe abortions.
The issue that this essay is dedicated to assist to this never ending battle of abortion. This essay will be written from the point of a pro-abortion utilitarian however I must also consider the argument against abortion to get a full understanding of how serious this issue is, the against argument is of a deontological stand-point. First while I argue that abortion is not impermissible, I do not argue that I is always permissible. It allows for and supports our sense, for an example, that Ms Judith Jarvis Thompson states in her A Defence of Abortion, “a sick and frightened teenaged school girl who is pregnant due to being raped may choose abortion and it should be morally permissible however choosing to terminate your pregnancy when you are
Abortion has been accepted by the United States of America ever since the monumental Roe vs. Wade case in the early 1970’s, but is still a very controversial issue. Many people are for and against abortions. Some people say that the child inside its mother’s womb deserves the opportunity to live, while others believe that a mother has the right to choose whether or not her fetus can live or die. Other advocates for abortion claim that abortion helps keep the threat of overpopulation down. They also say that in many extreme cases, it is in the best interest of the mother and the child that the fetus be aborted. Abortion helps keep the crime rate low, so it should remain legal, they also say.
Abortion in the United States is a legal form of murder. Each and every year over a million babies are murdered and it must be stopped now before it will continue to get out of hand each and every day. We have discussed in this essay that a fetus is a living humans and not something that can just be thrown away. An unborn child is still a child and he or she needs an opportunity to grow and live a long successful life just like the rest of us have gotten the privilege to do. Abortion cannot go on any longer. More and more live are lost every day.
People are always debating whether or not abortion should be illegal. However, abortion should be legal because it will lead to illegal abortions which are dangerous, it being illegal goes against women’s rights and it is a great solution to rape and other circumstances. Today, abortion is one of the most commonly performed clinical procedures in the United States. If abortions become illegal it will lead to tons of illegal abortions which are dangerous. “The estimate of the number of illegal abortions that took place in the United States during the 1950s and 1960s range from 200,000 to 1.2 million per year”.
Abortions have always been a very controversial topic. Over the years we continue to fight for or against it. One can say that is one of the most talked and argued topic in the United States. An abortion is when a woman terminates her pregnancy before the fetus is viable using various of methods. Some argue that abortions should be illegal and considered murder, while others, from a religious point of view, say that no one has the right to take away the life of a person, in this case the fetus. However, others insist, that abortions are a basic women’s right.
