What's wrong with guns?? Ask yourself is a gun dangerous or is the person dangerous. If you think about it, a gun can't harm anybody without a shooter. Im positive if you looked at guns like that you will never feel the same. People should be able to own these guns because it isn't the gun but the shooter. As i already said the people are murders and not the guns. For example, if you had a family member or loved one killed would you be upset about the person or the gun? Honestly, it wouldn't be logical to be upset at an object. Furthermore, people believe there are homicides by guns, but realistically according to (TIME magazine by davidson j) that 20,000 out of 30,000 were suicides and not homicides that means that people are the ones behind
Left, right, Liberal, Conservative, Democratic, Republican. There are a lot of synonyms for the sides of our nation divided. Divided on many things: religion, political views, morals, etc.. For a nation that prides ourselves on extraordinary security and unity, it is quite ironic that so many issues can cause such distress and uproar within communities. One such issue is gun control. As a white male in a middle-lower class family that has never owned a gun, I may be somewhat biased. Objectively as I can, I am going to report the facts and more importantly, try to find the core issues at play.
The debate over firearms has been polarized for too long. Gun law is a never-ending issue because there hardly is any true debate. Americans (and even gun owners) do support the governments efforts to make sure guns are less dangerous in violent hands, but that is the main problem-the guns getting in the wrong human hands. Millions of law-abiding Americans do own and do enjoy their guns. But criminals and sometimes-disconcerted kids often use firearms to kill. The use of firearms has increased tremendously. An average day in Los Angeles is four people dying in a gun related crime and the United States faces approximately 87 deaths a day. There are more than 200 million guns in circulation in the United States and if you don’t own a firearm, chances are that your neighbor or friend does (Fineman 27). Sure, the Founding Fathers incorporated the Second Amendment as “the right to keep and bear arms,” but it did not give the distinction of using guns to kill more children and people than anywhere in the world.
Today in this day and age the world is filled with hate and violence and other terrible things. People use weapons and other objects to cause terror on others for many reasons such as power and wealth. Firearms are one of the weapons someone may use to harm or rule over others because of the danger the weapon can cause. Over the years with gun violence and killings, some people want to get rid of the citizens right to purchase and own firearms. Although gun violence bad, by taking a person’s right to bear arms will not solve the problem with gun violence in todays society.
Guns kill people. That is the way society thinks now-a-days. Everyone is now becoming an expert on all things guns just so they can have a say in how the United States should regulate gun usage. If half the people who want to ensure more restrictions are put on guns actually understood how to use them and understood the pros of concealed carry—or even open carry—they would stop being so anti-gun. Open and concealed carry could potentially be a problem solver in these mass shootings. A victim possessing a gun can create intimidation between shooter and victim, and the said victim could in turn use his weapon to stop the offender from killing.
Amongst the growing number of reports of school shootings in the United States, the question that continues to be asked remains a controversial issue that is heavily discussed. On one side of the argument are many gun owners, or gun activists, who insist that a looser gun control law is the solution, while on the other are the pro-gun control activists who call for a stricter law to help mitigate the increasing problem. Although people believe it would be safer if others were allowed to carry guns, concealed or otherwise, the truth is that a better gun control law would be more effective. While this is a controversial topic that leads people to develop strong opinions, it would serve well to get a sense of what people think about their stance on the issue as well as the defense and reasoning each side utilize and why in order to thoroughly disprove the former idea. Still a main component that fuels gun activist are concerns regarding constitutional rights but these concerns should not be where the topic focuses. Some Americans lean more towards supporting the bans, simply due to what people have seen with the mentally ill in the media today, these are often the indviduals who support restrictions that have been made on the purchasing of firearms. Others highly oppose gun control, standing firm by the belief that any form of suppression towards firearm ownership, is a clear violation of anyone 's constitutional rights. Gun control has stirred an incredible amount heated debates and controversy in this country. Both sides believe that their view is the correct view. The question remains: Will controlling firearms result in less firearm deaths? The answer to that question is no. This is both proven and obvious. First is the point that criminals have never and will never obey the law, which is why they are criminals. The United Kingdom has an incredibly strict gun control policy but yet their murders involving a knife or other sharp edged weapons has a dramatic increase compared to our own. The second point is that there is already gun control implemented in many places, so gun control can easily be studied. The Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence studies and ranks all 50 states from the most strict to the most lenient. When comparing this with the FBI database of crime reports it will show that the strictest gun law states have the highest rate of firearm related murders than the state that is much more lenient. These two points come together to show that gun control will not work and is impractical.
Why do some people believe that it is the guns doing all the killing? Are they able to magically come to life, load themselves, and go on a shooting spree all on their own? If so, all my guns must be defective because that’s never occurred in my home. If someone fires a gun at a human being will it kill that person? It surely will, but it isn’t the gun’s decision: it is the operator’s. It is all about the operator’s state of mind. If I were out doing recreational shooting at a target, having fun, with a benevolent frame of mind then I’m not going to deliberately kill anyone. On the contrary, if I am a nut job out to kill people for whatever sick, sadistic reason then that gun is in the wrong hands and is just as dangerous as the person wielding it. Even if you take away the firearms, murders still occur. Take for example a story my teacher, Laura Gelwicks, told the class. She told us that she lived in Missouri for a short while, and in the time she lived there that there were seven murders, and none of them were with a firearm. One of them was when four people were bludgeoned to death with a hammer over a mere 30 dollars. It just goes to show that if a human being has the motive to kill someone so badly, they will find a way. Personally, I believe a gunshot would be a much more pleasant way to die than being bludgeoned to death with a
Gun violence in America is a public health crisis, which needs to be recognized and changed by legislatures, and the voting American. As conscious Americans, we need to vote for changes to gun laws that would improve background checks nation-wide, make firearm registration mandatory, restrict the sale of assault weapons and weapon modifications that give the shooter military-grade fire power, and invest in gun-safe technology and safe firearms storage designs. This type of technology will help prevent criminally oriented people from accessing guns, and will help prevent the accidental deaths of many children by guns. This essay will explain the reforms needed to help ensure Americans can still exercise their 2nd amendment right of owning firearms, and preventing the unnecessary deaths of many Americans at the same time.
The debate over gun control in America has constantly brought up over the years due to gunmen killing large amounts of civilizations in shootings. From Columbine to Sandy Hook or the shootings of the two reporters in West Virginia, these public shootings are occurring everywhere. Lawmakers and civilians alike are pushing for increased gun control in hopes of preventing the same tragedies. Anybody that has been affected by the shootings have been pushing Congress and state governments to force new sanctions on government. With the past three years, Congress has shot down all the laws despite the large amounts of public support. Adding more gun control isn’t going to stop the mass shootings from happening.
Gun control is an awfully big issue in the United States today. Many people in America don’t agree with the gun control laws that they have today. Gun control laws only take guns and freedom away from law-abiding citizens. Many citizens have their own reasons for owning a gun. Why would the government want to make it harder for people to own a gun? People that own guns aren’t very likely to be attacked by criminals. Owning a handgun is one of the best ways of protection when used correctly. The second amendment states “the right to bear arms”; does this grant everyone the right to own a gun? Gun control laws have not been proven to do anything for citizens. Gun control laws just make it harder for the good guy average Joe to own a gun. Gun control laws are not a good idea, and are taking part in the loss of our freedom that was given to us.
The problem with guns is fairly obvious: they decrease the difficulty of killing or injuring a person. In Jeffrey A. About 60 percent of all murder victims in the United States in 1989 (about 12,000 people) were killed with firearms. Firearm attacks injured another 70,000 victims, some of whom were left permanently disabled. In 1985, the cost of shootings was an estimated $14 billion nationwide for medical care, long-term disability, and premature death. In robberies and assaults, victims are far more likely to die when the perpetrator is armed with a gun than when he or she has another weapon or is unarmed.
First, and foremost many handguns have claimed the lives of too many people. This is a very serious issue we must tackle globally not just in the United States. The same problem is killing our past, present, and future. Gun violence has claimed the lives of so many Americans that we are the leading country in crimes committed by guns. These guns are claiming the lives of people ranging from babies to adults to even the elderly. Handguns are just causing too many deaths.
People who prefer to own guns say that guns are not killing people but the users. However, studies have showed that most of the killer said that they did not plan to kill the victims. In addition to that, more 70% of all killing come from family dispute or arguments between friends. (Federal Bureau of Investigation). If there were no guns, the issues would have been ended by shouting match, or maybe fights. Besides that, research has showed that if murderers attack people with guns, they have more chances to kill victims than with other weapons like knives.(Abner J Mikva).
