Hunting as a whole is a very controversial topic to talk about. Depending on the person you talk to they can either support this historical sport, or hate the mere mention of the subject. Since the entire subject of hunting can cover such a wide variety of forms, this essay will focus on a specific form of the sport, waterfowl hunting. Firstly many of the groups say that the sport of hunting is unsafe because of the hunter using a high velocity firearm ( 10, 12, 20 and 4-10 gauge shotgun). There are specific laws in place to keep hunters from over hunting waterfowl and other animals with the enforcement of shooting times, shooting limits, and seasons. Which the laws are being enforced by the DNR. Finally the sport of waterfowl hunting is one of the best ways to both connect with your family and to keep yourself active and healthy. Showing your significant other or your children where their food comes from is an amazing way to teach them life lessons and to appreciate the fact of what it really takes to get food on the table for people in the past that didn’t have the option of going and grabbing food from the local grocery store or Starbucks® to satisfy their hunger. Hunting also teaches your kids/ significant other amazing amounts of patience. Waterfowl hunting is also an amazing way of keeping your body active as well as sharpening your mind, walking out through mud to retrieve the duck or goose from the water, as well as searching and waiting for the perfect moment to take a shot is an amazing way for you to keep your mind sharp as a blade.
