Get Out And Hunt!
Hunting as a whole is a very controversial topic to talk about. Depending on the person you talk to they can either support this historical sport, or hate the mere mention of the subject. Since the entire subject of hunting can cover such a wide variety of forms, this essay will focus on a specific form of the sport, waterfowl hunting. Firstly many of the groups say that the sport of hunting is unsafe because of the hunter using a high velocity firearm ( 10, 12, 20 and 4-10 gauge shotgun). However this simply isn’t true, according to the NSSF (National Shooting Sports Foundation) “hunting with a firearm is the third safest sport when compared to 28 other popular sports, with a lower

There are specific laws in place to keep hunters from over hunting waterfowl and other animals with the enforcement of shooting times, shooting limits, and seasons. Which the laws are being enforced by the DNR. Finally the sport of waterfowl hunting is one of the best ways to both connect with your family and to keep yourself active and healthy. Showing your significant other or your children where their food comes from is an amazing way to teach them life lessons and to appreciate the fact of what it really takes to get food on the table for people in the past that didn’t have the option of going and grabbing food from the local grocery store or Starbucks® to satisfy their hunger. Hunting also teaches your kids/ significant other amazing amounts of patience. Waterfowl hunting is also an amazing way of keeping your body active as well as sharpening your mind, walking out through mud to retrieve the duck or goose from the water, as well as searching and waiting for the perfect moment to take a shot is an amazing way for you to keep your mind sharp as a blade. In conclusion hunting is one of the safest sports for you and your family to
For many people, hunting is just a sport, but for some it is a way of life. In Rick Bass’s “Why I Hunt” he explains how he got to where he lives now and what he thinks of the sport of hunting. There are many things in the essay that I could not agree more with, and others that I strongly disagree. Overall this essay provides a clear depiction of what goes through the mind of a hunter in the battle of wits between them and the animal.
Cool calm mornings, the fog on the lake is dense and all you can see is your decoys. As shooting hours roll around and the sun is just starting to peak over the horizon, the fog slowly lifts off the lake and the target at hand begins to swoop, lock up and land. What am I talking about? Ducks, one of the most majestic birds at hand, in my opinion. Ducks are one of the best animals to hunt, because one it’s a great challenge and two it is one of the most heart racing sports known to man. But what makes it so heart racing? Well when you’re out there and you hear you’re first mallard quack or your first wood duck whistle you get that deep adrenaline rush, your heart begins to pump faster and harder. Then there they are locking up into your decoys,
If trophy hunters really care about conservation then why do they pay massive sums to shoot rare animals? Although trophy or as some would call it “sports” hunting, is great for entertainment, however, it is not meant to be a fun activity as trophy hunters say the use of wildlife resources is to conserve, but trophy hunting should not still be a leisure activity when endangered animals are targets. The reason why is because endangered animals are becoming more extinct less than a blink of an eye, all just for the financial income. According to the article, Can Trophy Hunting Actually Help Conservation? – Ameena Schelling, “Approximately nine out of every ten hunters said they’d be willing to hunt in places that were poor for wildlife
What matter is that the hunter is having fun doing what they love with their best friends. Waterfowl hunting is not a ordinary hunting experience it is above and beyond ordinary. Waterfowl hunting is waking up on cold mornings at 3A.M., drinking coffee, playing with the hunting dog, seeing places no one has ever seen before, and bonding with the greatest of friends. These are the memories a hunter will always remember, waterfowl hunting will change lives, waterfowl hunting is a addiction, and once someone is hooked they will never turn back. Bink Grimes says when he started waterfowl hunting it was dreadful the first few weeks, then he said once he started noticing the real aspects of hunting he enjoyed it more and more each time he went (Grimes). The proof is everywhere that waterfowl hunting is the greatest outdoor sport all around the world. Nevertheless, always be safe, and always enjoy the hunt, and make the greatest
In conclusion hunting is not for everyone, but those who do take pride in it. It takes a lot more than just to walk in the woods and pick a spot. Deer use thousands of runs throughout the woods. Spending weeks searching for the right spot in order to make a kill. It takes hours of sitting in a stand not saying a word or moving a muscle. You could spend days, months, or even years without getting a kill if you do not put in the time. When the time comes if you’ve done what I’ve said in the above paragraphs, you will be
When a Minnesota dentist killed a prized African lion named "Cecil" he received an onslaught of criticism and reignited the debate concerning big game hunting. Is big game hunting wrong? Should big game hunting continue? Big game hunting has been a very controversial topic for some time and these types of questions are being asked daily. There are a lot of people for it and a lot of people against it. This issue causes a lot of extreme behaviors and ideas by both sides. Those who oppose it believe it to be morally wrong, unfair to the animals and damaging to the environment. Those individuals for it believe that it is the citizens' rights and a way to be involved in the environment. Hunting is the law and shall not be infringed upon. In defense of the hunters' I believe that there are five main issues of concern.
I have been bow hunting since I was about 8 years old. I am going to go over the basic steps and necessary equipment needed to start becoming a successful bow hunter. Some of the key things you will need during this are a decent set of camouflage, a compound hunting bow and a place to hunt. Despite the time it takes to be successful; bow hunting can be very rewarding.
Hunting as we all know can be a very controversial sport in the eyes of the public. Hunting as described by Webster’s Dictionary is the activity or sport of chasing and killing wild animals. There are numerous different ways to hunt the same animal as well as innumerable different species of animals to hunt. Hunting includes trapping, shooting, and even fishing. Americans tend to hunt for the sport of it while citizens of other countries often depend on the catch of the prey to feed their families and communities.
Duck hunting is a very popular sport that is rooted in our american history. In fact, in the sports beginning, many hunters hunted out of boats that were known as the “sink boat.” The historical weapon of choice was a very large old gun style known as the “punt.” Although hunting is a historical sport, many americans still love to duck hunt and knowing a few essential facts can make a hunter much more successful.
Many people have misconceptions about hunting. One such misconception is that hunting is easy and any person can go sit in the woods and wait for an animal to cross the hunter’s path. However, people who believe this are sorely mistaken. Hunting is not just sitting in the woods with a rifle; there are many other aspects that must be considered. An individual must have all preparations complete, purchase or gather the equipment needed, and know what to listen for while in the woods.
It is early in the morning; the majestic Elk bugles in the distance. The sun is kissing the tops of the peaks with the most beautiful gold, and painting the clouds rose red. The men and women who enjoy the outdoors whether it is hunting or just hiking help make these types of moments possible. Hunting and the ecosystem is tied closely to conservation of land and animals. The articles of “Hunting and the ecosystem” written by the South Dakota Game Fish and Parks Department (SDGFP), and “Facts and statistics on wildlife conservation” written by Roger Holmes, director of the Fish and Wildlife, touch on how hunting is important in the environment to keep a good balance in the ecosystem. They also point out how hunters do more than any other organization for wildlife and environment. Our country was created by outdoors men who hunted and they passed their knowledge of the outdoors to their kids. Hunting has worked its way down from the generation and we should learn to “pass it on” Hunting is great for the environment and wildlife and should be preserved for the ages to come.
First, hunting can be a source of relaxation. Sitting in the woods with nobody else around, far from the routine life, can be very therapeutic. One’s life is hectic with all the demands of everyday living. Running away from them, and having a time for oneself can be very healthy.” Even If you don’t makea kill , you will benefit from the peace and quiet sounds of nature“(National Geographic News ,March,2007). Moreover, hunting is a good method to rid oneself of pent up anger. Emotions may build up, and anger might fill the mind; hun...
Many people see hunting and fishing as the slaughtering of innocent animals for no reason other than sport and fun. However, the truth is, hunting and fishing are beneficial to people, environments, and the economy. Hunting and fishing are beneficial to the economy because they cause a major economic impact. Hunting and fishing are beneficial to environments and people because they reduce damages done by wildlife overcrowding. Hunting and fishing are also beneficial to people because they provide a healthy, affordable source of food.
Hunting for sport is legal, and should remain that way. Many arguments against hunting for sport claim it is a “violent form of recreation” and “we have no right to take an animals life” for example, an opposing viewpoints article “Sport Hunting is an Unnecessary Form of Cruelty to Animals” says just that. HoweverI argue that we are part of this planet, as well as it’s ecosystem. We are (in ways) predators. An article on sport hunting, “Hunting for Sport” compares “hunters and the hunted” to a mountain lion and a deer. Is the lion at fault for hunting the deer? No. The mountain lion’s duty is to play the role as predator as well as keeping it’s prey’s population away from its ecosystems capacity. The ecosystem can no longer always support and control all animals populations.
The topic of hunting has always been filled with controversy, excitement and trepidation for the environment. Both sides have varies ideas as to what is wrong and right. I realize that many people do not understand why people have to hunt or why people do hunt. One of the questions that kept coming to mind is why so many people are against hunting when their ancestors hunted and without hunting many of them would not be alive today. This question is relevant because many people are becoming to be worried that animals are in pain when being hunted and that it is unfair for people to hunt selfless animals with modern weaponry, and with many people going against the right to own guns.
