Late Tuesday night at about 9:30 a Clinton, Missouri police officer named Ryan Morton was fatally shot and two others injured. It’s said that dispatchers sent them to the wrong address while following a 911 call. The call consisted of two women screaming at each other in the background. As they entered the house they got struck by gunfire at the door, killing Morton. When officers later arrived they found suspect James E. Waters who was 37 dead on the crime scene. It is still unclear how James died, whether he was shot by the police or killed himself.
It was later found out that Morton and the two others injured were sent to the wrong address. They were supposed to go 15 miles away from where they were told. The station is unsure how this
I reviewed the Molly Wright case over and over making sure I had all the information concerning the murder correct in my mind. First thing I thought about was why; did Mr. David Hill kill Molly or what would he gain from it, I read where Wright had caused their market trading business to go in a debt totaling over $20.000 with loans and credit cards. This would have made David angry enough to have killed her and from the case file Molly was stuck 15 times and had defensive wounds on her hands this murder in my opinion she was killed out of rage and that helps when trying to identify the murderer and have a stronger case when it goes to court.
I, Ponyboy Curtis, will appear in court to state that Johnny Cade is not guilty.
On October 20, 2014 a young male teen was fatally shot in Chicago, Illinois. The shooting occurred in the middle of the road and the suspect that was fatally shot was named Laquan McDonald. McDonald was just 17 years old and was the suspect after initial reports placed him in the scene of a possible car jacking. It was reported that Laquan McDonald had a knife and was also seen slashing tires of a police cruiser. When police had finally had him surrounded in the middle of the road, one officer opened fire and released 16 shots into his body. Another deputy on hand said the use of force was not needed because Laquan was not in any way trying to attack the officers present. The officer who fired the 16 shots into Laquan is named Jason D. Van
On September 21, 2016 an unarmed black male named Terrence Crutcher from Oklahoma was fatally shot by a female police officer as he stood outside his vehicle. Police officers responded to Crutcher, age 40, in response to a stalled vehicle in the roadway. At the moment it was unknown to the officers if Crutcher was armed at the time. Police said Crutcher approached the officers after the officers arrived. Investigators said that Crutcher refused to obey several orders given to him to show his hands. Officials said that when Crutcher reached into his car that is when one officer fired his taser while another officer fired one shot.
The sentencing of underage criminals has remained a logistical and moral issue in the world for a very long time. The issue is brought to our perspective in the documentary Making a Murderer and the audio podcast Serial. When trying to overcome this issue, we ask ourselves, “When should juveniles receive life sentences?” or “Should young inmates be housed with adults?” or “Was the Supreme Court right to make it illegal to sentence a minor to death?”. There are multiple answers to these questions, and it’s necessary to either take a moral or logical approach to the problem.
Summarizing Susan Cooper Eastman’s article, Michael Dunn, a 47 white male shot 17 year old Jordan Davis, a black teen, over a dispute over Davis’ loud music. Jordan Davis was with three other teenagers when they parked in a Jacksonville parking lot next to Dunn. Dunn claims he shot Davis because he panicked when the dispute escalated and he saw what looked like a barrel of a gun through the back window as Davis began to get out of his car. Police say that the teen’s car was unarmed. Assistant State Attorney Erin Wolfson believes that Dunn overreacted because of the way that Davis was speaking to him and not listening to his orders to turn his rap music down. Wolfson quoted a witness who heard Dunn state “You are not going to talk to me that way” as the dispute began to get heated. Defense attorneys believe that Dunn acted in self-defense and that it is reasonable that he used deadly force. Medical evidence shows that Davis died inside his vehicl...

“Basically, we found the guy holding a gun to his chest and he wanted us to kill himself,” Fridley said, explaining the situation in which people try to force law enforcement officer’s hand into opening fire as “suicide by cop.”
Convictions is an act that can be made about any individual. Take a man who leaves civilization to go on an expedition through the Alaskan outback. The man takes a minimal amount of survival equipment and knowledge with him but deems that he can survive off the land for a month or two. Just when he was ready to end his expedition and return to civilization his path to civilization was block, thus, he died from starvation. This tragic incident conjured a lot of convictions about the man, whose name is Chris McCandless. Convictions, such as he was incompetent, selfish, narcissistic, and just plain out stupid is seen in the literary piece, written by Jon Krakauer, titled “Into the Wild”. However, McCandless was none of those things, he was
Scott Peterson has been waiting to die for over a decade. He was convicted of murdering his wife, Laci Peterson, and their unborn son, Conner. The case unfolded at the end of 2002 with what everyone believed was a missing person case. Unfortunately, a fetus was discovered in April of 2003 washed up on the shore and just the next day, Laci's dismembered body was also found near where the fetus had been found. It appeared to be a slam dunk case, and much of America believed Scott Peterson murdered his wife and their unborn son.
Officer David Sherrard of the Richardson Police Department was shot and killed after responding to a call at an apartment complex on the evening of February 7, however, it was not the same person who killed Mosby, as Sherrard’s killer was caught.
On the night of February 4th 1999, Amadou Diallo, an unarmed and innocent African immigrant, was gunned down in a hail of 41 bullets while standing in the vestibule of his own apartment building in the Bronx. The officers responsible for Diallo's death were part of New York Police Department's "elite" Street Crime Unit. The plain-clothes officers approached Diallo and pulled their weapons. When Diallo, probably believing they were thieves, pulled out his wallet, the "elite" officers opened a barrage of 41 bullets on the unarmed black man.
Either a Police Officer has been shot or a Police Officer has shot a citizen, but either way the final result is death. Whether an Officer has been shot or an Officer has shot someone these cases seem to be related to one thing, fear. People in today’s society feel as though they can’t trust Police Officers as they are there to hurt and kill them. And Police Officers feel as though they are in danger of doing their everyday duties because people see them as the “bad guys” and want to hurt or
Officer Taylor’s thoughts on “those people” should not affect her decision-making skills. It is not fair to judge someone on the color of the skin or race. That thought process is garbage and needs to be fixed. At that point Officer Taylor’s mindset is not using facts. Officer Taylor wants to stop crime but locking the wrong person up doesn’t help anything. You must have evidence or probable cause. The definition I got off the Webster website says Evidence that gives someone a reason to think that a crime has been or is being committed. Officer Taylor is acting off suspicion.
Michael Sanders, a Professor at Harvard University, gave a lecture titled “Justice: What’s The Right Thing To Do? The Moral Side of Murder” to nearly a thousand student’s in attendance. The lecture touched on two contrasting philosophies of morality. The first philosophy of morality discussed in the lecture is called Consequentialism. This is the view that "the consequences of one 's conduct are the ultimate basis for any judgment about the rightness or wrongness of that conduct.” (Consequentialism) This type of moral thinking became known as utilitarianism and was formulated by Jeremy Bentham who basically argues that the most moral thing to do is to bring the greatest amount of happiness to the greatest number of people possible.
