Football players all around the country taking a knee is the most important social issue in our time because it is making havoc with higher authority and fans. President Trump should not be worrying about NFL players but instead, be worrying about more important problems. Lately, this problem has been causing fans to become hostile. They are starting to fight in the crowd or trying to hurt others including players. Anthem kneeling has also caught the attention of the president. He is starting to join in on the action which is not good because he will be occupied from his job and keeping us safe. The fans of the NFL have not been amused by the actions of the staff and/or the players. Most of these fans are starting to bring racial …show more content…
The NFL made a poll to see how long term fans feel about the players kneeling and if they wanted to see them get financial consequences. The head of the NFL is still thinking if he should make this movement happen. Fewer NFL players kneeled once President Trump called for the protest to end and threats to fire the players that kneeled. If most or all of the players stopped kneeling President Trump would not worry about the NFL as much and he can focus on his bigger problems. Fans love their teams but don't love what they are doing. The announcer says how the Ravens are kind, bold, and generous. The crowd cheers for them, but once the players knees hit the ground the crowd boos them. This shows that fans will not tolerate this type of action. The fans act like this because they think the kneelers are disrespecting the country. The NFL is also losing their fans. The fans are …show more content…
Although some NFL players kneel for things like not having a fair government, they don't believe in respecting the country when they don't respect them, etc… the main reason are racism, and brutality that is brought upon their race. They are fighting for their freedom and safety and while they are doing that it is starting more of what they are fighting for. Many players are fighting or arguing with the president on twitter. This isn't smart because it will start or strike up more controversy from the president and he will try even harder to stop protests. The president should not pay attention or even worry about the NFL players because he has bigger problems like terrorism, wars, keeping the country safe, and many more roles. Although some coaches kneel or support their players they aren't worried. The players don't have one main goal for protesting. They do it to see what people will do and if anything will change. Even though Trump won't stop until the players stop it is all one giant problem. President Trump isn't worried about the country but instead colored football players that have an
The National Anthem Starts playing the players hit the ground kneeling one by one. At least 1% of the league’s players don’t lock arms, they get a hand on their shoulders in support. (Branch) If more than 1% of the football players start kneeling there will be controversy between the blacks, whites, armed forces, and most importantly the nation. NFL players should not be kneeling during the National Anthem because protesting against police brutality should not protesting the flag.
They should have followed the NFL rules and made sure the correct air pressure was in the balls. Maybe one of the coaching staff or one of the players told them to do that, but they should have known the difference between right and wrong and realized that there may be consequences. The
ESPN writer Jeffri Chadiha claims the NFL is getting too “soft.” He also compares the NFL to the “pansy league”. Jeffri expresses his frustration with the NFL innovating the
Looking at the severity of injuries in the NFL in this day and age, and then looking at what the NFL does to protect players, the NFL is a business. Everything is politics. It has turned into who has the best stadium rather than who has the best players. The NFL is all about who has the best fans, not who has the best coach. The better fans you have, the more money you make, but the better coach you get, the more money you have to pay him. Growing up as a fan of the NFL, it saddens me to see the decline of the sport I love so much, but it is nearly inevitable. Soon enough, everyone in the NFL will be injured, and football will be over. The way things are going, players are dropping faster than we are gaining them. We only draft new players into the league once a...
In college there are hated rivals that can’t stand each other. This causes college fans to have lots of pride in their teams. College stadiums also have student sections, which take the atmosphere on game day to the next level. College players know how the fans feel. This inspires them to play their hardest, and leave everything on the field to represent their school. In the NFL, instead of playing for a team because you want to represent them, players will play for teams who offer them the longest and largest contracts. Players hold out from participating in training camp because they want a bigger contract, and some even sit out games. The NFL seems to be more like a business, and geared towards making money. NFL players holding out, and being focused on money angers fans. Not all players are like this, but fans feel that the ones like this are being
Do you think media coverage of the National Football League is fair? The media has been interfering with players personal life and it is not ok. Such as the incident with Johnny Manziel, Jerry Rice, and Adrian Peterson. Johnny Manziel committed domestic violence against his girl friend, Jerry Rice punched his girlfriend, and Adrian Peterson committed child abuse. In addition to those crimes there have been many more. These issues have all dealt with law breaking, and media tells the public. This is interfering with player careers, it’s putting pressure on the NFL, and also affecting many youth football leagues. The media coverage of the NFL’s problems is not fair because the NFL has bigger problems to worry about, players are leaving teams, and parents are not letting there kids play football.
These players and their families have an obsession for football that is pretty obvious and damaging to the well-being of their future. Not only are the players affected but the school and other institutions as well. When football is at the forefront of everything you can miss key contributions to what would amount to having a successful life after football. The fans of the Permian Panthers love their football team and to them that is all that is important in the world.
Kneeling During the National Anthem You have probably seen the debate across the news covering the controversial protest of kneeling during the National Anthem. This protest has stirred up conversation throughout the nation. Is kneeling during the anthem an appropriate way to protest? Supporters think that the celebrities are smart by using their fame to bring attention to America’s problems, but others think that football games are not the appropriate place to focus on politics.
Present players in the National Football League disagree with all the protective rules now but when they are no longer playing football it’ll be a different story. Players also tend to forget that they won 't be playing football forever and that they will need to be healthy later on in life when they can no longer play football. It’s not okay for players to complain about the safety rules now, and then later claim the National Football
They didn’t — none of them called themselves Clevelanders. As I looked around the lounge of Twin Towers, I realized that most of these fans were here to cheer on their home team in the first Cleveland Browns-Pittsburgh Steelers game in three long years. The fans varied in hometown.
This argument has reached its peak of debate when Northwestern University football players planned to form a union in order to receive some form of representation. Northwestern quarterback, Kain Colter, started this movement when he reached out to the President of the National College Players Association, Ramogi Huma. He said, “This is about finally giving college athletes a seat at the table. Athletes deserve an equal voice when it comes to their physical, academic, and financial protections” ( Farrey). Huma filed a petition to the office of the National Labor Relations board on behalf of the players of Northwestern. Besides this being the first move towards a labor union in college sports what’s important is that the athletes of Northwestern are not seeking unionization due to mistreatment by Northwestern. According to Colter, “The school is just playing by the rules of their governing body, the NCAA.” Also, this isn’t about just helping players at Northwestern. Colter expressed how he wan...
Football is a game of adversity and emotion. People who have not played a sport or follow one closely don’t understand the emotion behind game. They think that football is just a game, but for those who are involved with the team don’t think so. All those horrendous hours of countless preparation are for something players and coaches love. About a few years ago, a football player at the collegiate level was told that he wouldn’t be able to play another down of football again due to his banged up h...
Sports affect major institutions of society, including the mass media, politics, religion, education, and family. The Super Bowl gathers thousands of viewer’s attention, including those who do not usually watch the regular season games. Football is by all means an American sport. Since the day a baby is born in America, whether it be a boy or a girl, one of the first words they learn to say is ball, and after a few months they add the word foot in front of the word ball, and by the time you know it your baby boy is playing football, and your little girl is cheering “Go Steeler’s go!” and without intention their cultural identity starts.
No matter what sport it is or where you watch the game; at the stadium, a restaurant, or at home, you will come across these different types or fans; the ultimate fan, the casual fan, and the bandwagon fan. Although all three are important to any sports team, the ultimate
NFL players need an education in case of injuries or if they can’t play for any reason. Players can have a degree in any type of subject. If a player wants to play in the NFL, he has to attend a college or a university that has a good football program. Some players come from high school but most players come from a four year college (Field 11). If you have a son that is going to be in the NFL who wants to play linemen, he has to be about 6’8” tall and weigh around 350 lbs. Players have to know the game. They can’t hope to be a NFL player if they don’t understand how to play the game (Green 174).
