Music has been a part of society for decades and is constantly evolving. There are so many different types of music in this day and time that it is hard to choose one genre to listen to. People love to listen to music and people should not have to pay to download music from the internet. There are three specific reasons why people should not have to pay. Artists make billions of dollars every day and just because a person downloads a song for free does not mean that the artists will suddenly go bankrupt. Music is simply too expensive. The music will stay relevant if people do not have to pay to download songs. No artists can really claim a song as an “original” so they are getting paid for something that is not even really theirs.
First off, music is very expensive and a lot of people do not have the resources to pay for every download. Artists are worth billions of dollars, so losing a few extra dollars because of someone downloading a song instead of buying it will not break them. You don`t see the artist flipping out because people are downloading their songs. In fact, they are probably glad people are trying to find ways to listen to their music. Technology has progressed to the point where the artist can’t stop their music from being uploaded, downloaded or exchanged. So really we should not pay to download music. It costs way too much, the artist will be forgotten quickly and they would be receiving money for a song that is not even really theirs to claim in the first place. Plus, when one really thinks about it most people have no intention in buying a C.D because in this generation they will only listen to one or two songs off the album.
