Lose Weight – By Believing!
If you need help to slim down, how about you start believing you can?
Many of us have heard the Henry Ford quote,
“Whether you think you can or think you can’t – you are right”
How many of us have given that quote any real thought? And even more telling… how many of us actually believe it? Yes,the power of belief may be the MOST important factor in creating the body of our dreams. You may not realise it but your belief system drives who you become and where your potential could take you.
“Don’t be afraid if things seem difficult in the beginning. That’s only the initial impression. The important thing is not to retreat; you have to master yourself.” Olga Korbut, the four time Olympic gold medalist.

Many people who are trying to lose weight fail to make the distinction between weight loss and fat loss. A big mistake, since weight loss and fat loss are not interchangeable terms. Misunderstanding that there is a major difference between weight loss and fat loss often leads people to fitness frustration and stagnation. In order to really achieve your optimal body and health, you need to have a proper understanding of how everything really works so let’s start by getting a better understanding of the difference between losing weight and losing fat.
Fat loss is not about how many kilos you lose, how much you weigh on the scale-fat loss is about getting rid of body fat and inches in the right places while maintaining a good muscle mass. Weight loss, on the other hand, is literally only about how much you weigh. It does not care about whether or not your body weight is made up of fat or muscle-only the kilos

Your weight is not what defines your fitness. Muscles weigh more than fat, so sometimes you may have a lower weight but still look flabby and out of shape. Many people focus solely on their weight as a sign of their fitness progress and become exasperated that they aren’t looking any better even as their kilos go down. Some people stop focusing on building muscle mass (the right thing to do) because they see that their kilos are going up.
Both of the approaches to fitness mentioned above betray the fact that many people do not understand how their bodies work. Your body has two stores that it uses for energy: fat and muscle. When your caloric intake goes down, your body selects one of these stores to use for energy. If you are not working to build muscle through physical fitness, your body will turn to the muscle stores for energy and leave you stuck with excess fat. Fat weighs less than muscle and so losing muscle means that you may weigh less, but still have that pesky stomach overhang.
The way to ensure that you get fit, lose fat and retain your muscle is by combining a healthy diet with regular exercise. Crash dieting is the perfect recipe for fat disaster-without the exercise it needs, your body will eat away at your muscle for energy and leave
In any diet working out should be an addition to staying healthy. Yes, you can also possibly lose weight by eating a lower calorie count than your body regularly so your body can instead use stored fat, however it’s not that simple. Tom Naughton shows that “every time you eat you store some fat. In between meals fat comes out of your fat cells to provide the fuel for your muscles and organs. If you’re naturally thin then that means you have efficient fat cells which means fat cells go in quickly and comes out easily. Your body doesn’t need much fat because the little bit of fat you do have is a reliable source of fuel.” but on the other hand “ If you’re predisposed to be fat it’s because you have greedy fat cells. When you eat you tend to store calories as fat instead of burning them and when your other tissues need those calories the fat comes out slowly if it comes out at all. And you do what your body is telling you to do. You eat more.” Which means you’re not getting fat because you’re eating more. You’re eating more because you’re getting fat. However eating things such as grain, which is at the bottom of the food pyramid which means it should be the main portion of your diet, can impair your body at the cellular level. “When you
Exercising regularly can help prevent excess weight gain or help maintain weight loss. You don’t need to go to the gym to exercise, doing small actives such as walking somewhere sort distance instead of taking the car or even do some exercises whilst watching T.V. Exercising boost energy, reduces stress, helps you sleep better and lifts our mood. It’s important to eat regular to ensure that your body gets the required amount of energy to move. Skipping a meal doesn’t help loss weight, it means that you will be more likely to eat more during the next meal.
-- Most of the weight you lose is not fat, it is more in the form of water and muscle
Even though their process in achieving weight loss and good health are in complete contrast; researchers found that each of the diets accomplish the same results. Starting with each diet’s idea, low fat diets state that fat is bad for the body they also address that not all fats are dangerous. Low fat dieters actually admit that some fats are needed to stay healthy. The low fat diet does not restrict a person from foods that contain fat. In an online article Choose a Diet low in Fat, Saturated Fat and Cholesterol, it was stated that “Fats supply energy and essential fatty acids and promote absorption of the fat-soluble vitamins A, D, E, and K”.
One of the main differences between healthy diet and exercise and fad dieting is they can yield very different long term results. When fad dieting, you may be able to drop quite a bit of weight in a short period of time, but rest assured you will most likely see those pounds again. Fad diets focus on losing weight too quickly. The initial weight you lose is water weight, but as soon as you go back to regular food the pounds lost will return. Fad dieting can also wreak havoc on your muscles, and cause your body to go into starvation mode. Fad dieting works off of the idea that since your body needs fat to produce energy, it will burn the access fat that is stored to get that energy. The problem with this theory is that when you deprive your body of the necessary nutrients it needs, it then stores all the fat it can and starts burning energy from your muscles. The loss of your muscles slows down your metabolism, thus making it more difficult to lose weight in the long run. Healthy dieting promotes a lifestyle change, allowing for results...
When promoting plus sizes and television shows, are self-esteem or heart disease also being promoted? People throughout the world struggle with being anorexic, bulimic, overweight, or obese. TLC’s now popular reality TV show, My 600 Pound Life, displays the daily struggles of morbidly obese people. While encouraging women to love their body is appealing, there are many dangers in the fondness of obesity. Glorifying obesity can lead to being morbidly unhealthy, as demonstrated by Dominique Lanoise, a woman who died from morbid obesity.
America is one of the most obese countries in the world, and the reasons are quite obvious. Take a look around. Fast food chains on every block, more and more technology to make our lives easier, and high amount of stress are just a few factors to weight gain in our country. There are many different views on obesity and how the people think it should be resolved, whether it's government making the change or the people taking care of themselves. Childhood obesity has more than doubled in children and tripled in adolescents in the past 30 years. Are we doing enough to bring these statistics down? No. In the last 40 years, there has been a growth to more than 160,000 fast food restaurants in America (“Adolescent and School Health”). Restaurants (such as Wendy's, McDonald's etc.) serve more than 50 million people per day, generating about 65 million in sales annually. Only since obesity has become a national epidemic have fast food restaurants changed their ways. But we need to do more than just change the kind of oil the french fries are fried in. Better yet, why don't we remove, or intensely decrease the number of the unhealthy fast food chains, and spread more healthy fast food chains, such as Subway? Is it something government could take act in? Should the United States government take measures to fight the rise of obesity in the country, or are choices concerning diet and nutrition better left to the individuals, free of government interference?
Low-fat, low-calorie, and low-carbohydrate diets are of unequal effectiveness and merit. Low-carbohydrate diets are simply better. All three diets attempt to induce weight loss by managing the body’s energy intake. The body gets the energy it needs to stay alive from food. Food can be broken down into three major categories: carbohydrates, protein, and fat. Even though fat contains the most calories per gram, because of the way digestion works, the body gets all of its energy from carbohydrates and none from fat found in food. When the body takes in excess energy, it is stored in body fat. If it ever needs to, the body can dip into these energy reserves by breaking down the fat in which the energy is stored. Low-carbohydrate diets work by cutting back on the body’s main fuel source, carbohydrates, and replacing it with fat and protein. While protein and fat have other vital uses in the body, they do not provide any energy. So, the body is forced to burn fat for fuel. Low-calorie diets simply proscribe a lower overall caloric intake thereby providing the body with insufficient fuel, again forcing the body to dip into its reserves. Low-fat diets reduce fat intake because proponents of low-fat diets claim that fat is the type of food with the biggest caloric bang for its nutritional buck Low-fat diets are based on the fallacious connection between body fat and fat in food. There is no such connection, and this is a mistake that can have dire consequences. The body does not use fat as an energy source. People actually gain weight on low-fat diets because snacks toted as low-fat are frequently high in carbohydrates to compensate for the loss of flavor from lack of fat. Becau...
In life I believe we all should be as fit and healthy as we can. In order for me to trim down my body fat lifting weights has helped in addition to a healthy diet. Lifting weights burns calories while building muscle and having muscles in general burns calories. My metabolism
There is an epidemic running rampant across the United States and most people do not know the effects it has on society; this epidemic is none other than obesity. In the last thirty-five years, the obesity rate has more than tripled. Obesity has many ill effects and is the cause of many diseases. Washington Post journalist Wil Haygood, elaborates, “A lot of our medications are for ‘disease states,’ such as Type 2 diabetes, hypertension, things that can be adversely affected by increased weight” (411). Speaking with a pharmacist, Haygood explicates how obesity can lead to serious disease and further health implications that are difficult to overcome.
Cardio burns off calories; weight training makes you gain weight. Could Weight Training Strictly Be Used For Fat Loss. You Bet.
Balancing the calories you use through physical activity with the calories you eat will help you achieve your desired weight. When you eat more calories than you need to perform your day's activities, your body stores the extra calories and you gain weight (a). When you eat fewer calories than you use, your body uses the stored calories and you lose weight (b). When you eat the same amount of calories as your body uses, your weight stays the same (c).
First, losing weight happens faster through a proper diet and not doing exercise. Good nutrition is more important than exercise because it helps to lose weight.
Burning calories is what makes us lose weight, but it is important for your health to know what your calorie intake should be. Exercise burns the calories, but if you neglect to put calories in, you will basically lose your muscle. As soon as you have convinced yourself that you are committed to becoming healthier, losing some weight will be an added bonus. Clean out the fridge and cupboards to get rid of all the stuff that tastes yummy but is bad for your health. This includes chips, ho ho’s, cookies and soda’s.
Weight loss and health: Is loosing weight closely tied to health benefits to know this we have to review the evidence of the long-term effects of weight-loss diets on health outcomes. Physicians recommend a diet to their patients with the only assumptions that losing weight will lead to improved health. The original standard weight recommended by a physician was based on Metropolitan Life insurance tables. The tables designated for an average height women 5 '5" the expected weight would be 134 lbs. Reviews of diet studies showed that over next 30years individuals tended to lose an average of 8% of their starting weight. To be a successful dieter the standard would be an average height women weighing 200 lbs would need to lose 10lbs even
