In this paper, I will clarify what Breast Cancer is. I will explain the symptoms, treatment options, and other useful information regarding this disease. The first thing to know about Breast Cancer is understanding what it is. According to the Cancer.org website, breast cancer begins when cells in the bosom begin to spread out of control. The tumor that is formed from these cells may be detected on an x-ray or can be felt as a lump. Malignancy can advance into neighboring tissues or trickle to distant places within the individual ("What is Breast Cancer?", n.d.).

In 2018, there are various Breast Cancer Treatment options available for breast cancer patients. These treatment options are available to Breast Cancer patients who range from having early-stage cancer to advanced breast cancer. When patients are at the point of deciding their treatments for their breast cancer, a clinical trial is often emboldened to think about as an option (“Breast Cancer-Treatment options”, 2017). It is always a good idea to get a second opinion when it comes to the plan for treatment of breast cancer. It’s so important to that a patient is sure they are comfortable with the plant of treatment for their breast cancer. As I mentioned earlier, there are various breast cancer treatment options that are available. Surgery, Chemo Therapy, Radiation Therapy, Hormonal Therapy, Targeted Immunotherapy, and clinical trials. Tumors can be benign or malignant, benign tumors are not cancerous whereas malignant are cancerous. Benign tumors will not spread, but it can damage the tissues around it. Malignant tumors invade, damage, and destroy tissues that are nearby and can spread. When cancer cells break away from a malignant tumor and enter into the bloodstream, cancer can spread throughout the body. The cancer cells from breast cancer can be found in the lymph nodes under the arm. Cancer that spreads into other parts of the body; its still has the same name as the original cancer. So basically if you are diagnosed with breast cancer and it goes into your lungs, you still have breast cancer.

Cancer patients often wonder if going through treatments like chemotherapy and radiation are worth the risk of the side effects, in addition to the cancerous side effects. They feel that they can’t enjoy or relax in what a short amount of time they have left because they are bedridden from the nausea and pain that treatments put them through. Patients tell their loved ones to just let them die so long as they don’t have to go through any more pain. Those who are too old, are unable to recover from the effects, or are just too far in the grips of cancer, should refuse the more harsh treatments like chemo and radiation. On the positive side, refusing treatments after a certain point can save their families from the stress and cost of hospital bills. If caught early enough, patients can opt for safer and easier routes to getting rid of cancer like surgery or by doing a stem cell transplant.

The significance of this topic is that when it comes to lung cancer screening, many individuals may or may not abide by it. There are many reasons to why individuals may not want to have their screening done for lung cancer. The top two reasons are that the screening itself is expensive and secondly, the results that they get from the screening may not be accurate.
