The world as you know it is over. A bomb has been dropped, killing over seven billion people and creating an environment that is toxic to humans. Whether it be by chance or miracle, ten select people have survived and managed to get to a bomb shelter. The bomb shelter contains enough supplies for seven people to live until the earth is habitable again. The people are: a minister who is70 years old, a laboratory scientist, an electrician, a female vocalist, an armed policemen, a pregnant woman who is hysterical, the pregnant woman’s husband, a famous writer, a professional athlete, and a high school girl. Your goals are to establish a government, create a viable society, and repopulate the earth. Using this information and logical thinking, I have chosen to kill off the laboratory …show more content…
The gender and age of this person is unknown, so we don’t know if he or she could help with repopulating. This person knows how to fix problems and glitches with electricity, and could possibly help us to get everything back up and running when we leave the bomb shelter. This person could also help if there was something that runs off electricity while in the bomb shelter. The downside to this person is that we do not know if the bomb destroyed the power plants and if electricity over the entire earth was down. If everything was destroyed, this person would have to start up a power plant to get electricity started, which is not including in the education of an electrician. There is also no guarantee that there would be a generator or something the electrician could fix in case of malfunction in the bomb shelter. Just like the laboratory scientist, even if there was something, the person wouldn’t have their tools with them. The seven people could survive without electricity if it became necessary. For these reason, I have decided that the electrician was someone we could get rid of and still be successful in our
This episode of The Twilight Zone “The Shelter”, focuses on a neighborhood set into mass hysteria because there has been an announcement over the radio that an unidentified flying object has been spotted flying towards America. This is assumed to be a plane carrying an atomic bomb because of the tensions that were happening at this time between Russia and America during the Cold War. The tensions at the time of production for this episode were very high as the Berlin Crisis of 1961 had just taken place the summer before. This Crisis is why the writer of the episode, Rod Serling wanted to create a fictional scenario where there was an immediate threat of a nuclear war. Rod Serling was a soldier during WW2 which influenced his future stories
The world has seen numerous engineering disasters and from each one, has gained insight to better prepare for future calamities. However, it is very difficult to fully foresee how an accident might occur just by looking back to past disasters. In addition, it is even harder to prepare for something that hasn’t even happened before. The Chernobyl accident is a prime example of an event that couldn’t be fully prevented just by looking to past disasters or even predicting this exact accident. Psychological biases, as well as other contributing factors such as human factors, and design flaws made the Chernobyl accident a catastrophe that no one could have anticipated.
In 1941 Pearl Harbor was bombed by the japanese. This occurred during World War II. After this incident all japanese-americans living on the west coast were sent to internment camps. These camps were unnecessary and racist. They were made because the americans thought that japanese people were a threat to other citizens. They thought that the japanese people were going to go against and they were going to give out information. This is absurd because even if that was true, why would the japanese soldiers be so decorated in the army. In this essay I will go more in depth of why the japanese internment camps were such bad idea.
The statement “Killing 150,000 people in less than a second actually allowed fewer lives to be lost.” might sound horrendous. However, that statement is the reason why the United States was able to win the Second World War. In contrast to this statement, some people might argue that it is inhumane to massacre that many people in less than a second. The dropping of the atomic bombs on August sixth and ninth of 1945 was the correct decision for American in order to effectively and efficiently end World War Two. America should have dropped the bomb because it saved American lives, there was a lack of incentives not to use the bomb, and dropping the bombs was the quickest way to end the war.
For years on end, countries have been fighting with big museums from other countries for ancient artifacts that belong to the original countries. The argument of whether or not the museums should be able to keep them still remains. It is the right of the country to have their own artifacts. It is imperative for countries to be able showcase their historical artifacts, therefor museums should return them to their rightful owners.
Analyzing the Argumentative Article “Let’s Be Clear, There is No Surviving a Nuclear War” The debate over if humans can survive a nuclear war or not is an interesting topic. Who exactly is a homeless person? A homeless person is someone without permanent housing who could be living in the streets; or be staying in a shelter; abounded vehicle or building. There are more than 600,000 people in the United States which are homeless on a given night according to the government. There is exactly 610,042 homeless people in the United States. Who exactly are the homeless? Homeless to most of us would be inconceivable. Why is that, because we have no idea what it’s like to not have a home and have to move from one location to another?
Being homeless is a very big problem for Americans today. Each day we see it, but what about the causes? The definition of a person who is homeless lives in public with no shelter. Homeless people must do things out in public that other people have the resources to do in the privacy of their home. Many things factor in when it comes to understanding being homeless. One problem that homeless people face is medication and sleep problems. Another situation is finding a job or income to support a shelter. Lastly, people who are homeless have types of diseases that they must face along with the troubles of no place to call home.
Homelessness is a big problem in the United States and we the citizens are not doing enough about it. You can’t go anywhere in a large city without seeing a box where a homeless person calls home, or just seeing a person in need holding up a sign. There are millions of people that are homeless in the world that won’t ever have the opportunity to speak to their loved ones again. You never really understand what someone is going through or how they got homeless. In this article it shows a group of people helping homeless people locate their long lost love ones http://www.npr.org/2016/10/16/498074856/harnessing-social-media-to-reconnect-homeless-people-with-their-families. People should really think to themselves what if this happened to my father or my brother, and never got to speak to them again. There are many contributions we can make to help that
Homelessness poses a danger not only to ourselves but also to our society and its ability to succeed. Image yourself living as a homeless person you would have to consider your whole day, where you would wake up to in the morning, which will likely shape up your whole day and determine if you can make it through or not.
Although homelessness is widespread and almost next to the catastrophic global hunger problems, it can be brought under control and its effect reduced to a greater percentage. By simply tracking the root causes of low wages and the lack of affordable housing as well as improving other support systems like housing vouchers and health care, homelessness can be solved.
People might get hurt from the electricity generator explosion. In this event, the generator might have to work overload because they need a lot of electricity. This generator is located near the audience, therefore it has a chance to explode and hurt the audiences. My suggestion is the generator should be located farther to the audiences, and should have technician to check them often.
On a normal of our everyday life, we find ourselves going to work or heading somewhere to meet up with a friend. While on the way there we pass someone that we don’t know sitting down on the ground alongside with him is a cart from a store filled with old clothes that either found or got from someone, some trash, maybe something small to eat to help with his hungry stomach growling throughout the day. You wonder how he got themselves into a position like that? Yet sometimes we know how he got there, although, we don’t always know someone else’s story. You leave some money by his foot to help get himself somewhere for a short time. Homelessness has increased over the years, from 1990s up until now. I believe that we can help these get back into a better environment for their life with the help of local shelters, food banks, donations from churches and schools, and many more things we can do in Licking County.
On April26, 1986, the nuclear power plant was exploded in Chernobyl, Ukraine. At 1:23 AM, while everyone were sleeping, Reactor #4 exploded, and 40 hours later, all the city residence were forcefully moved to other cities, and they never return to their home. The Chernobyl disaster is ranked the worst nuclear accident. The Chernobyl nuclear power plant was ran by the Soviet Union central nuclear energy corporation. In Today’s world, the composition and how work is done has massively changed and is still continuing to change. Work is now more complex, more team base, depends greatly on technological and social skills and lastly more mobile and does not depend on geography. Companies are also opting for ways to help their employees perform their duties effectively so that huge profits are realized in the long term .The changes in the workplaces include Reduction in the structure of the hierarchy ,breakdown in the organization boundaries , improved and better management tactics and perspectives and lastly better workplace condition and health to the employees.
