Our wonderful country is known for a lot of things, unfortunately, dumb laws happen to be one of them. When you think of dumb criminals you usually think of morons trying to steal an ATM machine (it never works people, give it up) or dullards who write their bank robbery note on the back of their personal check but, occasionally, it's the law that's dumb, not the offender. For instance:
Number Twelve: In Alabama it is completely fine and legal to drive the wrong way down a one-way street as long as you have a lantern attached to the front of your car. And the reasons not to visit Alabama just keep on commin…
Number Eleven: In Connecticut, it is illegal for imbeciles (their word, not mine) to marry other imbeciles. Which candidate plans on making this a national law? That’s who I’m voting for!
Number Ten: In Massachusetts it's illegal to make clam chowder with tomatoes. It should be illegal to make clam chowder with tomatoes everywhere.
Number Nine: It’s illegal to dispose of used razor blades in Connecticut. So, what, exactly, are you supposed to do with them??
Number Eight: In Maine, if your Christmas decorations are still up after January 14th you will receive a fine. Maine, here I come!
Number Seven: It is a legal requirement to drink milk in the state of

I mean, the crazy, stupid laws are a few relics here and there leftover from a less enlightened time, right? We’ve grown as a country, evolved from the random and archaic circumstances that led to the creation of some of these laws, right? Yeah, keep telling yourself that. While I’d love to tell you that I had to look far and wide to bring you these “gems” the sad truth is, there are many, many, many more where these came from. (Honestly, how surprised are you?). Turns out, our county is a wealth of useless…well, let’s just say pointless and random is something this country does really, really well. The good news is that there are more off the wall laws for us to laugh at! Stay
Throughout time there have been many amendments to the United States Constitution. Some have had little to no effect on the population. One amendment that this writer will take a look at is the Fourteenth Amendment. The wording of the amendment has been debated here recently but bottom line it abolished slavery. This amendment also made an attempt to equalize everyone that is born here in America or naturalized. The ripple effect of this change to the constitution is still being felt today. It is hard to imagine living in a world where the African American community was not considered equal to the white man. A ground breaking distinction in the language written out in the document was that of it applying on the federal level as well as the state jurisdiction. This is especially important as we see the civil union marriages have conflict

The sixth amendment is indeed a right that carries tremendous importance with its name. It constitutes for many protections which Mallicoat (2016) summarizes by saying it “provides for the right to a speedy trial by an impartial jury of one’s peers in the jurisdiction where the crime occurred. Provides the right to be informed of the nature of the charges, to confront witnesses against oneself, and present witnesses in one’s defense. Provides the right to an attorney.” Having an impartial jury of one’s peers is extremely important in efforts to eliminate bias and a subjective, limited range of mindsets. If this cannot be obtained in the jurisdiction where the crime was committed, one may request trial to be held elsewhere, such as in the case

The majority of the population living in this distinct place, who settled on today’s Massachusetts, Connecticut, Rhode Island, and New Hampshire, lived off of the Puritan authoritative laws. New people were always arriving at the ports of these peculiar settlement areas because of their surplus of natural resources (plants, fish, etc...
The Prohibition was started in the 1920s when the 18th Amendment was ratified. This leads to many disruptions in America. The 18th Amendment caused many people to become upset with the government. The 18th Amendment was the prohibition of alcohol but was this Prohibition really good for this country? This research paper will tell the positives and negatives of the Prohibition and the overall effect on the country. There are many arguments to both oppositions. This paper will be focusing more on the negative points of the argument. The Prohibition was put into effect on January 16 1920. There was very few people that supported The Prohibition. US leader and temperance movement groups supported it. Many People opposed the Prohibition including, the average citizen, teenagers, and the mafia.
Secondly I noticed when I was in my car on my way to work was the license and the insurance that the government requires in order to operate a motor vehicle. The government requires that all drivers pass a drivers test to demonstrate that they are capable of operating a motor vehicle without harming themselves or others. When they pass this test they are giving a drivers license. If the person violates the laws of the road too many times or seriously this license can be suspended or revoked. The government also requires that the driver have insurance. Insurance is required so that in the event of an accident the parties involved in the accident can afford medical care.
You look at some of the things that the US government has passed in recent years and are appalled yet somethings that make sense they refuse to take a second glance. Making it illegal to ...
Today the Second Amendment is in the media more and more due to the recent up rise in crimes with firearms. Every person seems to have an opinion on whether our Second Amendment should be removed or it should not ever be touched. “A free people ought not only be armed and disciplined, but they should have sufficient arms and ammunitions to maintain a status of independence from any who might attempt to abuse them, which would include the government.” (George Washington) The Second Amendment of the constitution reads "A well-regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a Free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed." Today the actual meaning of the second amendment is still not fully clear. If you were to ask multiple people the definition of the second amendment, you would receive a different one from each person. Also, you would be able to determine whether they are pro or anti-gun
I want to prevent would-be killers from having access to weapons of war. I want to stop them from teaching themselves to kill through video games. I want mental-health services to be more easily obtained. And I want to deny murderers the notoriety they seek. Our leaders must attack the entire problem--and if they do, I believe my fellow gun owners will have their back.(P. 10)

Law is one of the most important elements that transform humans from mere beasts into intelligent and special beings. Law tells us what is right and wrong and how we, humans, should act to achieve a peaceful society while enjoying individual freedoms. The key to a successful nation is a firm, strong, and fair code of high laws that provides equal and just freedom to all citizens of the country. A strong government is as important as a firm code of law as a government is a backbone of a country and of the laws. A government is a system that executes and determines its laws. As much as fair laws are important, a capable government that will not go corrupt and provide fair services holds a vital role in building and maintaining a strong country.
