The supernatural is more interesting than terrifying, not everyone believes in the supernatural just as some wholeheartedly believe in the supernatural. The interesting thing about the supernatural is trying to prove it is real some will go to extreme measures to ensure that what one believes is real. There have been reports of satanic summoning rituals taking place theres pictures to add to the truth of the reports however, whether or not the summoning part actually worked is a belief some agree and some disagree with. An individual could have a perfectly harmless interest in the supernatural but then something happens that triggers this delusion and they get stuck with it, reinforcing it by piling up one misinterpretation after another. In Dr. Tallis’ patient's case, the patient wanted to know the demon's name, with this information it showed Dr. Tallis the willingness the patient had to travel down this particularly dark path. In a supernatural aspect if a person is willing to travel down such a path the willingness that person has could lead to a demonic possession. If someone is willing to dabble in the dark arts he or she does not care about themselves and as that to can lead to a psychological disorder known a Narcissistic Personality Disorder. Psychologist cultivate a sort of scientific attitude in the patient, getting a patient to test what one believes.People jump to irrational conclusions based off of informational ignorance. Further understanding of the supernatural and paranormal is needed to comprehend demonic happenings. Possession by a demon could quite simply be a mental disorder such as multiple personality disorder or even schizophrenia. Treating one mentally rather than by an exorcist may be a safer way to protect the individual. One must have an understanding of psychology, mental illness, and paranormal religious happenings in order to comprehend the difference of a possession or
People become scared in their own minds because of paranoia and their own imagination. For instance, say you’re home alone and don’t have any animals and you hear a noise--your first emotion is most likely fear. Although you didn’t go check what made the sound or why it was made, you get scared and stay in one area until someone gets home or you call someone, it’s human nature. We make ourselves scared when there (usually) isn’t anything to be scared about. On the other hand, we purposely make ourselves scared sometimes by going to haunted houses, watching thriller movies, reading scary books, or watching horror shows.
Mental health, what was once considered being possessed was considered the explanation of mental health problems and the solution was to put you in a prison for the rest of your life or to have an exorcism done on you.

Everyone has a slightly different interpretation of the supernatural but the interpretation which we can start with is Shakespeare’s. Everyone of Shakespeare’s time found the supernatural fascinating. Shakespeare interpreted the supernatural as witches, magic, unnatural and evil and he expressed his beliefs in the play, “Macbeth” very clearly, as he portrayed the three deformed women with control over the weather and the ability to predict the future. These three evil witches with magical powers were the creation of Shakespeare’s interpretation of the supernatural. Shakespeare’s contemporaries believed in the supernatural very strongly and a majority of them were frightened of it, including the king of that time, King James I of England.
Werewolves are indicated in the paranormal activity. The history of werewolves has been out for a pretty long time and people do not know if the story is a myth or not. The history began in Wisconsin in 1936 as a man encountered a large creature towering over six feet and covered in hair. Werewolves are known as lycanthropes, which are mythological or folkloric people with the ability to shape-shift into a wolf or wolf-like creature (Werewolves in Wisconsin, 2014). Werewolves’ features are like a wolf mix with a man, very hairy, big and strong. Werewolves are shape-shifting creatures with unusual speed, strength, reflexes, a...
Typically, when someone thinks of religion, they think about worship of a higher power, compassion for all living things, and a general love of the world. Satanism, while a religion, does not fit these conventions. The faith holds no belief in a higher power, is rather selfish in nature, and paints a bleak picture of the world and its workings. In addition, Satanism has controversy riddled history dating back to the seventeenth century. Due to the religion’s unconventional nature, it is often looked down upon and its principles and values are ridiculed. To better understand a faith like Satanism, it helps to look at it alongside a more familiar and commonly understood religion like Christianity.
The Southern Ohio Lunatic Asylum, a sanatorium in which a melting pot of the state’s criminally insane, daft and demented were housed, was later effectively named the Dayton State Hospital, ultimately named 10 Wilmington Place, which completely “derails” past notions of the previous named building, and has now become a retirement home for the elderly. “It must be remembered that popular thinking at this time had by no means entirely removed from “insanity” its ancient association with demons, spirits sin and similar mythical phenomena. Neither was it generally considered in the category of illness and hence the afflicted were viewed with an admixture of curiosity, shame and guilt” (INSIDE D.S.H 2). The author is conveying that there was a misconception toward the afflicted that they were not only insane but also demonically possessed, hence the obscurity of the patients due to curiosity and shame by the community. In such films as House on Haunted Hill in which certain archaic medical experiments were performed on patients that once were housed there; as a challenge a group of people were offered money to spend the night in a house thought to be haunted by former patients years ago. This movie concept is in accordance with the author’s statement about popular thinking and public views.
The experience of evil possession persists as well, and eventually, the boundaries between “divine” and “evil” possession plausibly blends together within societies. Through the centuries, this uncontrollable event of possession increasingly became far-reaching. The spiritual comprehension of what exactly a person happen to be dealing with, whether good or bad, ultimately, became acceptable by acquiring large amounts of alcohol, drugs and various sources of stimulators, (as today). This control of a person by a god or deity could easily manifest itself through Apollo, Dionysus/Bacchus, the mother goddess, Cybele, the Muses, Eros, the nymphs, and others known for their abilities to possess. At the same time, on a somewhat obscure level, evolves
The constant struggle to explain the unexplainable is not a new concept. The world’s first civilizations including those of ancient Mesopotamians and Egyptians practiced polytheism for this very reason. Gods and goddesses were created to honor all things that could not be explained logically. Everything from weather to illness was thought to be controlled by these deities. As civilizations shifted from practicing polytheism to monotheism, the belief in these good (God) versus evil (the devil) supernatural beings did not completely end. Anyone believed to be able to channel these beings was accused of witchcraft. Throughout the age of witchcraft and magic, people accepted the reality of only two kinds of magic: natural magic and demonic magic. “Natural magic was the manipulation of occult forces believed to exist in nature.” (Levack, 2013) Natural magic was thought to never have any contact with the devil. Demonic magic, however, was thought to be the calling of evil spirits to do harm onto others. (The West, 2014) People who practiced demonic magic usually were thought to be women. Even...
In a country based around free will, the United States contains a vast variety of personalities and behaviors. Plenty of people, probably more than we know, exert abnormal behavior. Abnormal behavior is patterns of emotion, thought, and action that are considered pathological. Historically, people blame witchcraft for this eccentric type of behavior and tended to perform exorcisms in hopes of abolishing such actions. Anxiety disorders and personality disorders, two forms of abnormal behavior, can alter a person’s personality as a result of life experiences.
We start with Animism. In animism, spirits are considered to inhabit familiar objects in the landscape. There are traces of animism in the Judeo-Christian and Jewish religions. For instance, Satan was represented as a serpent; Jehovah, like Osiris(Deity in ancient Egyptian religion), was worshiped as a bull; Christ was the lamb of God, and the Holy Ghost appeared in the form of a dove. However, these are only symbols themselves and are not worshiped themselves.
Paranormal activity means unusual things that occur, that is not normally expected. Paranormal means beyond the range of normal experience or scientific explanation. According to Stefanik (2000) “investigation into paranormal activity evolved into the field of parapsychology”. Ghosts, spirits, and scary stories have always been a part of our nation and society for years. Spiritual movement of the late 1900s, had people fascinated with spiritual hope that there would possibly be life after death (Stefanik, 2000). People in society set out to do research, not just focusing on the reality of life after death, but to study a variety of forms on psychic phenomena (Jason, 2000). As life goes on paranormal activity will always be a myth to some people and will be reality to others. Vampires are preternatural being, commonly believed to be reanimated corpses, which feast on the blood of sleeping persons at night. According to (Origins and History of Vampires. 2000) vampires are “mythical creatures of the night that lived in dead bodies, feasted on the lives of the unsuspecting people and prolonged their unholy lives by drinking fresh blood. Before vampire traits, vampires were defined as ghosts, evil spirits, ghouls, and demons. According to Origins and History of Vampire 2000 “The term vampire did not exist until 19th century. The word caused an uncontrollable outburst of fear. According to “various evil spirits roamed the lands and caused havoc upon population that tried to defend it by using various folklore tales and religion.
Nevertheless , the arts of the evil continue to cast a shadow in the folk traditions and folklores , making many of us to wonder, if this is just a rabble of silly tricks and illusions or whether it is infinitely more sinister than we want to admit.
The paranormal is not what most people believe it is, “ghosts”. There is a wide range in
Demons do exist and are walking the earth trying to destroy Gods children. And as followers of Jesus Christ we have to keep in mind that Satan is here and his man purpose is to capture the weak. “Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil” (Ephesians 6: 10-8, KJV). As children of God we know that Satan does exist. According to Etzel, Satan will not stop trying to attack the believers of God so that he can make a statement that to God his believers are not worthy of his grace (2015) (206). (words 106)
