Argument Essay Are people always doing the right thing? A person is able to perform an act to better themselves and their community around them. They believe in that action, that everything around them is for good. Anne Frank’s statement, that people are truly good at heart, is true. The current generation and the past generation have had its faults, its own troubles, and events, just like the Holocaust and the recent Florida school shooting. Yet, there is always good in the world, no matter the evil. During challenging times, people will come together to help one another, and try to make a difference in the world. People will sacrifice their own for others. People have the ability to change their mind from thinking of the worst in people …show more content…
Mr. Frank answers their objections to this, that “Please. I’ve thought this out for weeks. It’s the best arrangement. The only arrangement,” (Goodrich, PDF 707). Instead of making the Van Daans sleep in the main room, the Franks sacrifice their own living space for the other family. They are willing to give away their own comfort and personal needs for the Van Daans to have their own privacy. They could have an entire annex, to themselves. Yet, they gave up space and comfort for the other family, who was facing the same trials as the Franks were. Later on, Miep brings supplies for the group in the annex, while risking her life to do so. This is heard in one of Anne Frank’s diary entries. She writes that “The people from whom Miep got our ration books have been arrested. So we have had to cut down on food supply,” (Goodrich, 497). Miep has risked her life to get these ration books illegally, for the family, and now has to find a way to get more food for the family while Mr. Kraler, another caretaker of the family, is in the hospital. Miep had befriended Anne and the family and was willing to sacrifice her own life for the group in the annex. She could’ve been faced …show more content…
Margot Frank, Anne’s sister, cares for her entire family, and she doesn’t want anyone to be hurt or discouraged. Whenever Anne is rude to their mother, she tries to help her mother feel better about herself. Margot says to her mom,“It’s a phase…¨ (Goodrich, 447). Margot is truly a good person, she cares for her family, and for others. She’s honest with Anne and kind to all. She listens to others and takes their concerns into mind. If one is willing to listen, and truly cares and invest in someone’s thoughts, then maybe one can learn more about the person given. They can truly care for them, and protect them whether as a family, or friend. Nearing the holidays, Anne brings presents for everyone in the annex. She had paid attention to everyone and their needs. “There’s a lot more, songs and presents.” (Goodrich, 480). Many members of the group hiding in the annex believed that Anne was aggravating and annoying, that she were someone who just didn’t pay attention to others. Yet, Anne had paid attention to everyone. She tried to give everyone a normal holiday, something to make their lives feel normal again given the current circumstances. Anne even thought that she, herself, was annoying and rude, but her sweet side still showed through because she cared about these people in her life. After the Florida school shooting on February 14th, 2018, students from Rosman
Everyday, their lives are filled with darkness and degeneracy. The whole world’s scared and they decide to swallow the fear. Growing up in a wartime environment isn’t easy at all. All of their lives have been mistreated, misplaced, misunderstood. Yet, Anne Frank still believes that people are good at heart.
The first thing that came into mind was that Anne felt bad for all of the bad things she did. For example, Anne always argues with her mother, Edith. I also assume that Anne felt that way since she knows that she has to stay on her roommates' side of the dispute so they do not send her to the concentration camps. Finally, I thought that Anne thinks everybody else will sometimes get on her nerves. Due to the fact that Anne cannot go anywhere to get away from all of the turmoil. Therefore, I think Anne Frank said, "In spite of everything, I still believe people are really good at
Many students who are enrolled in FFA are already heading in the right direction to a bright future. FFA has many career benefits within the program. Any of the career development events (CDE’s) have something that will tie to a career in agriculture or to a career of other sorts. According to the National FFA Organization, “FFA members embrace concepts taught in agricultural science classrooms nationwide, build valuable skills through hands-on experiential learning and each year demonstrate their proficiency in competitions based on real-world agricultural skills”(“Statistics”). There are so many careers that tie into FFA, and many of them have to do with agriculture. Not every career that has to do with agriculture is about farming. There are so many different aspects of the agriculture industry that many people never think twice about. Most people are not interested in agriculture because they think it is just about farming or
Anne Frank stated in her diary that "In spite of everything, I still believe that people are really good at heart." As a Jewish teenager during the time of the Holocaust, Anne had been hiding in an attic with her parents and sister, as well as the Van Daans, their son, and Mr Dussel. This time was extremely rough for her entire race. This quote shows how optimistic she really was. She had the attitude to think that even underneath all of the hatred that not only the Nazis beheld, but perhaps also the people that she was hiding with for years, there was at least a small amount of good in them. With that optimism, came the strong hope that she had. She was completely aware that the Nazis were not good people, but she refused to take that as a
They had to sacrifice their place to many others -sometimes strangers, their food, and their privacy. At some point all the people in the family dreaded that they allowed so many people into the annex with them, and it caused conflict between the families as well as among family members. An example was when Mrs. Frank lost her temper on Mr. Van Daan and said things like “ I’ve watched you day after day and held my tongue. But not any longer! Not after this! Now I want you them to go! I want him to get out of here!” (620) That is a prime example of how people change when they are locked in the same room, because before the Franks went into hiding, Mrs. Frank would have never snapped on somebody the way that she did. During this time in history, Hitler had all of the Jewish people taken to concentration camps and did unimaginable horrible things to them, so that’s why all the Jews were either taken to the camps, fled to other countries, or went into hiding like the Frank family did. Just being the race that they were took courage alone. Anne and the rest of the family had to have courage and be brave because they wouldn’t have survived through the war if they were cowardly and fearful about where their next meal was coming from or if they were going to be caught in hiding. The Franks also had to give each other courage and keep positive thoughts, even if they did not
In my English class we were learning about Anne Frank and her life during the Holocaust. During the Holocaust, many people, mostly Jews lost their lives; Anne was one of the 6 million Jews who died. Before her family and everyone else were taken to concentration camps Anne liked writing in her diary. After the war Anne father the only one in their family that survived received Anne’s diary from Miep, the caretaker of the families while they were hiding. One of the most eye catching quotes of Anne’s was” I believe people are really good at heart”, I believe Anne when she says that.
The definition of grit is simple; it means being passionate about long term goals, and showing stamina to pursue them, but should students in public schools have a class dedicated to a grit-focused curriculum? This has become a major topic of discussion among teachers and mentors. Angela Duckworth, a professor of psychology at the University of Pennsylvania, claims grit is not a fixed quality but one that can be developed. Many disagree with her statement. Grit is something everyone all have within themselves, but some just do not utilize this characteristic as often or as well as others. Grit is a puzzling concept. Duckworth has had an obsession with grit for over a decade. Her obsession started when she visited West Point,
In America, knives, forks, and spoons are necessary tools people have in order to function properly everyday. Without cutlery, people would continue to eat with their dirty, bacteria covered hands, slurping and licking their way through their meals. People would drink bowls of hot soup, maul steak like a feral dog stealing his first bone in weeks, and scoop large chunks of ice cream with frostbitten fingers. Like most individuals in the world, I never put too much thought into how important a spoon was until I needed it. I especially did not care where my family’s flatware came from or how they were created, as long as it was in the cabinet when I wanted to grab a quick bite to eat. Unfortunately, no one cares about a spoon, a fork, or
Most people aren’t familiar with ways our government is trying to lower health care costs of the homeless by putting them in houses, here is their chance to learn. “Housing First” approaches are aimed at reducing the number of homeless people in metropolitan cities, especially in USA and Canada. In Tulsa, the Mental Health Association operates housing models that are successful using the Housing First approach, but only with a success rate of around nine percent. These programs are able to help people achieve self-sufficiency. Special consideration is given to people who have mental illnesses. The main advantage of the approach is it makes an efficient use of the existing systems and services, and then eliminates the need for new ones. The approach has been said to lead to better quality of life, less alcohol and substance use among the beneficiaries, and less use of emergency services by the beneficiaries. Despite all of the advantages and purposes, the program has many challenges that make one think it’s not as successful as first projected. This could lead to program loss or the challenges being dealt with appropriately. If the government wants to use money to help end homelessness, they should put it towards resources and organizations that can, not towards homes where the homeless go to be ignored.
Anne quoted, "In spite of everything, I still believe that people are really good at heart." Anne may have felt this way due to the fact that everyone was down because of the possible imprisonment of the Frank family and The Van Daan's. She may also feel this way because she was starting to regret everything she had said to everyone who was staying with the Frank's. The last reason I think that Anne felt that way is because she might have felt that Adolf Hitler was forcing his military to do something they knew was wrong. There are yet many more influential quotes spoken by Anne, and yet most of us have no idea of what they mean. Given the fact that some people study famous quotes, but a majority of the American civilization little or nothing about Anne Frank, let alone her quoted words. This can cause riots between modern day Germans and Jews. Even though Anne said, "In spite of everything, I still believe people are really good at heart", she means that even after all of the bad things they have done to her, she
I wouldn’t put up with it if Anne were my daughter” (52 Frank). Even though Mrs. Van Daan can be very rude at times, there is still good within her. During the novel there are not many times when her and Anne get along, but once Anne went upstairs to just talk to the Van Danns alone and visit them. This time Mrs. Van Daan was nice and they had a good time together. As Anne explained, “Yesterday evening I went upstairs and “visited” the Van Daans. I do so occasionally to have a chat. Sometimes it can be quite fun. Than we have some moth biscuits and drink lemonade” (50 Frank). Finally I appointed this theme because Anne can see the good in most people. She gets judged many times by the people in the “Secret Annex”, but she does not consider them evil people and in fact she understands and can see the good in them. Most people do not show the good in them all the time but it is secretly hiding inside. Anne wrote, “Yet I keep them, because in spite of everything I still believe that people are really good at heart” (337 Frank). During the novel The Diary of a Young Girl by Anne Frank one theme was, in the world there some evil individuals, but inside of most people there is a least a some
During the first century of rulings within the Supreme Court, it was apparent that oral arguments had evoked a potent effect on the courts overall decision making process. Within today’s modern day society oral arguments continue to maintain their effect over the decisions of the court. There are several legal scholars who argue for the opposite effect. This effect establishes that oral arguments no longer have the same impact on the court because individual Justices have strong attitudes about personal policy preferences. However, oral arguments help Justices gather information not presented in the briefs and further aids them in utilizing those proceedings to raise questions about personal policy preferences. In addition, oral arguments serve
Two sided messages present an argument in favor of a position, but also considers the opposing argument. They offer the opportunity to increase the audience’s confidence and trust by asking both sides of the situation, and given that each aspect of the message has been analyzed. Although a speaker will present that they are in favor of a particular position, he/she will recognize the opposing viewpoint of their competitor. If a speaker is attempting to deliver a persuasive speech by speaking in favor of the audience about a particular issue in which they intend to persuade one on they must provide information that will capture their attention. Most times this is followed by a refutation of opposing viewpoints. When dealing with two-sided arguments the main focus is to concentrate on the concerns and persuading the audience that the idea or thought is legit. It is a natural instinct for human beings to be cautious or aware of anything that doesn’t no comply with their viewpoint
It has been rightly noted that tension between theology and psychology transpires only when psychology attempts to fully and exclusively explain religion in its own language.58 It is certainly true that findings from contemporary neuroscience have raised important questions about the origin, nature and destiny of the human person – questions that will continue to spark numerous healthy and contentious debates. Such findings have led some theorists to adopt a strong reductionist position that deems all human mental properties to be ontologically reducible to neuronal brain activity, and to accordingly classify all metaphysical theological postulates about the human person as illusory.
Before, the education system used to have the best interest of children but instead it seems as if the professionals who work for the system cares more about the job qualifications than the true value of education and how well the people are attaining it. Public education uses to led the road to success, but after going through thirteen years of it and seeing what the public education system is all about, people have come to realize that it only affect others later on in life negatively.
