can put you in situations that you probably wouldn't experience or most likely would not want to experience in real life. Very similar mental advantages of being in a situation, a firefight for example, could also be gained by playing a game based around a similar dilemma, with less harmful corresponding effects. In first person shooters, people have specific amounts of health, health is lost when something harmful happens to the player's avatar i.e. getting shot. Often the goal of the game is to take out targets on the opposing team, aiming for specific areas such as the head can maximize your damage output. Opposing players have the same goal so the user must quickly adapt to the situation around him or her. A common instance in most F.P.S environments is when another player comes out from around a corner, the user must identify if the other player is friendly or hostile, then if the player is hostile he or she must begin to aim and fire their current weapon, aiming for a target such as the head, all the while the opposing player will be attempting something similar, so the player must also focus on making themselves a hard target to hit. situations like this are extremely common, and ar the basis of most F.P.S. since this is a common occurrence the player trains the brain to have very quick reaction times, as well as quick thinking and
The first video game arrived on the scene in the 1950’s. It began as a rather simplistic form of entertainment including games like “Tennis for Two” and “Ping Pong”. Fast forward 50 years later and current games advanced extremely beyond the basic oscilloscope. Developed animations have lifelike characteristics; some even mimic the movement of the player’s body. Video games have evolved and with evolution come many concerns about its sometimes violent and immoral contents. Rockstar Games are known for three things: Open world video games, strong protagonists, and extremely controversial games. Rockstar’s best selling video game series, Grand Theft Auto, is perhaps the most controversial game series of all time. The original GTA sparked so much controversy that is was condemned in Germany, Britain, France, and Brazil. Whether you’re torturing innocent victims, killing civilians on the streets, or going to a strip club, Rockstar Games makes sure to pack their games tight with content that gets people talking. This policy holds true in Rockstar’s most recent addition to their extensive video game catalog: Grand Theft Auto V. Along with enormous success, GTA V also sparked enormous controversy. Whether it was the game’s depiction of torture, its not-so-subtle hints at sexism, or its overly (sometimes unnecessarily) violent gameplay, adults (especially parents) around the world were, and still are, outraged. Many parents feel that the content of the game is not appropriate for children, and that it is polluting the youth. Of course, being the best selling video game of 2013, there are still millions of people who adore GTA V in all of its bloody, violent, sexual glory. These people are diehard fans of the franchise, and when put in a room with an anti-Grand Theft Auto activist, heads are sure to butt. There are countless articles online arguing for, or against Grand Theft Auto V, but it seems like everyone is missing the point. Rockstar Games doesn’t force people to purchase their games. Rockstar Games creates the game, and puts it on shelves, but it is up to the parents to choose whether or not to purchase the game for their child.

Or a family on game night all playing a game together and having a great time and bonding together because of the experience. And many games today don’t stop there at just play together and have fun. Many games promote teamwork skills through puzzles which can be solved together, or enemies that the players must work together to defeat. These positive social effects are not limited to one’s family but extend into online play, where one can converse and enjoy his time with others, creating entire
