Have you ever wondered why your presents from Santa were always wrapped so neatly and perfect and how there were no crumbs around the plate that the cookies were on and that the napkin looked as if it had actually been used? That’s probably because it was a woman. Yes, in the pictures we see and the books that we read and maybe in the pictures that we have even taken with Santa, it looks like a man. But, today, I am here to tell you that things are, in fact, not always how they seem to be. On Christmas morning when I was little, I often wondered how Santa was so magical. I mean, how is it humanly possible to be smart enough to break into not only your house, but everyone’s in the world all in one night, be able to arrive on time bringing exactly what you “need”, and to have the neatest handwriting along with the best present wrapping. It just never made sense because at that point in my life I had NEVER seen a man who was able to accomplish all of those tasks, not only in one night but at all. Now that I am …show more content…
It is time to cut the paper to the perfect size. This way, you are able to fit it perfectly to the box with no bumps or humps. Santa, for me anyways, always had the neatest handwriting. In fact, I was very jealous of it. Every year that I saw it the more competitive I got. I wanted my letter to Santa to look neater and nicer than his. But unfortunately for me, that never went in my favor. He ALWAYS won. And every single year I got mad. I did not understand. How can Santa… who is a boy… have better handwriting than me! Every other boy in my class had horrible handwriting. I just didn’t understand. But again as I started reaching PRESENT-time I became aware. HMM… that looks A LOT like the handwriting that is on my birthday cards from my mom. Also, my mom asked me to go and get wrapping paper for my brother’s birthday gift and I saw the exact same wrapping paper that Santa uses. But I thought… eh it was probably just a
Dr. Seuss's original fable is a simple story told with a great moral that criticizes the commercialization of Christmas. The original story features an “Ebenezer Scrooge” type creature that lives up the mountains outside "Whoville." The Grinch indulges himself in the annual ritual of spoiling everyone's festivities with a series of nasty pranks. This particular year however he plans to sabotage the holiday season by dressing as Santa Claus, clim...
For instance the text states “Every man moves on...but there is no need to grieve. He leaves good things behind.” (MacLeod 305). This statement shows that although he stops believing in Santa Claus and moves on from his childhood years, his memories will always remain with him throughout his adulthood even though he knows that Santa Claus is fable. An example that supports this argument is when the narrator is describing his father's health, “He has “not been well” for over two years...he is most sympathetic of all concerning my extended hopes.” (MacLeod 302) .The main character realizes how ill his father is, he will have to soon replace his role as man of the house which requires him the move on from Santa Claus and become an adult. The last example supporting this argument is “The ones for my younger brothers say from Santa Claus but mine are not among them any more...It is as if I have suddenly moved into another room and heard the door click lastingly behind me.” (Alistair MacLeod 305) This shows that he is now an adult, the gift giving experience with Neil that Christmas. It shows his coming of age through his brother's gesture of letting his stay up at night to see the grownups in the family putting presents under the tree other that a jolly old man in a red
After what the spirits had showed him, he wanted to change into a nicer person, he then cried 'I will honour Christmas in my heart, and try to keep it all the year. I will live in the past the present and the future. The spirits of all three shall strive within me. I will not shut out the lessons that they teach. Oh, tell me I may sponge away the writing on this stone!'
As the reindeer got hooked up to the sleigh the helpful elves shook the bells on the reins, as they shook them everyone made a large uproar of joyful cheers and laughter. The main boy realizes that he is unable to hear the wonderful sounds made by the bells. As the bells are shaken more and more one particular silver bell falls from the harness and rolls right to the boy, he picks it up and shakes it and hears nothing, he repeats to himself “i believe, i believe.” he shakes it once more and finally hears it’s sweet sound. Hearing the bell and seeing Santa Claus, finally diminished his doubts about the magic of the Polar Express, Christmas, and Santa. Just before heading home the boy realizes he had lost the bell given to him by Santa. On Christmas morning his sister found one small box under the tree with the silver bell inside with a note from Santa, reassuring to the boy that his journey was real and in fact not a dream, and reminding him that seeing is believing. Even as an adult the boy could still hear the bells beautiful
Most people know the story of Santa. While there are many different versions, the gist of it is the night before Christmas, while children are sleeping, a fat man slips down the chimney to distribute gifts to boys and girls that have been good all year. The story was meant to bring hope and joy to children. It was a tale of giving and of love. However, as time goes on characters change, sometimes for better, and sometimes they take a turn for the worst.
“A wiffin’, sniffin’ gift, especially for you! It’s from Secret santa, bet you can't guess who!... It’s a woman!” Can you imagine a woman saying this? This holiday season at Macy’s Department store in New York City they hired 5 women to play the role of santa. The reason why the women were hired was because there were not enough men to play the role of Santa . Adults got VERY mad when they found out that Santa was being played by a woman. They said that they would never shop there again. i believe that Santa should not be played by a woman.
This is not your typical Christmas tale. This story is about a group of friends who decide giving is better than receiving around this time of year. There are tons of children who aren’t fortunate enough to get Christmas presents, let alone plenty who don’t even have family to spend the holidays with. Three best friends ended up figuring that out and worked together to truly create a Christmas miracle.
The reason why I say no to santa being a woman is because it has been a tradition that has been held for 100’s of years since the third century. If I ever saw
This is a very hot topic issue with me! And I truly hope many others that either haven’t spoken out against it yet, or haven’t known how to speak against it. Really start? Maybe, it’s because somehow so few have been educated on halloween’s history. Or the history of witches and witchcraft in our Country and around the world. Why, is it that so many attach or try to attach witches with Halloween? Witches have been seen in books and movies as ugly, evil and cruel! They were never suppose to become role models to our society, or children ever! In fact most don’t know what really has happened in there secret meetings, because they remain secret for a very specific
People say that Nightmare Before Christmas is a Christmas movie, but I argue that this movie is a halloween movie because it took place in halloween town. Some people think nightmare before Christmas but some others think it is a halloween movie. my opinion this movie is a halloween movie because they still had all of the halloween features in it. The main reason I think this movie is a halloween because it took place in halloween town.
Meeting the Ghost of Christmas Past begins the first stage of Scrooge’s transformation: regretting his actions. When Scrooge is shown his younger self alone in his classroom on Christmas, he regrets chasing a Christmas caroler away from his door. The Spirit skips ahead a few years to show him a happier time. His sweet little sister Fan arrives to take him home, and this is his first Christmas in a long time that is spent with family. Unfortunately, Scrooge doesn’t see it that way; seeing this scene makes him “uneasy in his mind” as he thinks about the way he treats his nephew Fred. Instead of treating him like his only family member, Scrooge denies invitations to Christmas dinner every year and is rude whenever Fred speaks to him. He doesn’t have time to dwell on this for long, however; Scrooge has many other important things to think...
A few days later, my family were all gathered around for lunch when Emily began questioning me about Santa Claus. She appeared so enthusiastic and happy for Christmas that I did not want to ruin it for her. So I started telling her about The North Pole and the flying reindeers and anything associated with Santa. Deep down, I chastised myself for tricking her, but I thought a little white lie will not hurt anyone. I looked up and my mom gave me “the look”, and I knew that was not a good sign.
Frosty the Snowman waves hello alongside Santa 's reindeer that are ready to take off. Candy canes line the sidewalk and the ginger bread dolls dance in a merry circle. The trees all sparkle with thousands of red, yellow, purple, blue, and orange lights. Out back, Mary and Joseph stand over baby Jesus, Choo-Choo train’s chug in spot, stars twinkle with bright yellow bulbs, and Mr. and Mrs. Santa Clause wave in the distance. Kerkhoven, MN, the location of the happiest house on the block. Every year my breath is always taken away as my eyes struggle to soak in the utter abundance of Christmas spirit. I 'm smiling and we 're not even inside yet.
In today's society, it is far too easy to feel underappreciated in this self-centered working world—it is important to take a step back and enjoy a little me-time. With that being said, Christmas movies are the perfect remedy for the ba-hum-bug blues. Occasionally, one may come down with a case of the Grinch. The to-do list seems as if it is a mile long: hang the lights, mail out the Christmas cards, and find the perfect gift for the “un-shoppable” friend. Truly, Christmas movies give you the perfect opportunity to relax while still obtaining the Christmas spirit.
Ah, to be a kid again. How wonderful it would be to relive the magic of Christmas. Don’t get me wrong, I have always been a kid at heart and a true lover of Christmas. But as we get older and we realize that Santa Claus and the North Pole were just stories our parents told us so we’d behave, Christmas starts to lose that magical feeling. No matter how much we might still love it, Christmastime just isn’t the same as when we were young. And at a time of all the aggravating shopping hustle and bustle, dents in the pockets, headaches, traffic jams and long lines, I begin to realize that God has sent me the most magical Christmas gift of all, a beautiful three year old whom I can relive Christmas in all over. Through my child’s eyes, I see myself each time his face lights up at the sight of Santa, and I feel his anticipation each morning as he faithfully opens up one more window on the Christmas calendar. Tonight, as we decorate the tree, I admiringly watched his tiny fingers delicately place each of the ornaments on all the same branches until they drooped to the floor. So proud of his work, I secretly placed some elsewhere, as to not hurt his feelings, and wondered how many times my own mother had done the same thing. And after a long day of shopping and excitement, I watched his eyelids begin to droop while lying underneath the warm glow of the Christmas tree lights.
