Do you think children are getting too many trophies? Do you think children are getting too many trophies? It seems that today's kids are getting rewarded for winning or losing. When kids play or do a certain thing they are committed to, they should be disappointed if everyone is given a trophy. Participation trophies are lowering the expectations for children, they are causing the children to become rude and stuck up, and the sports clubs are wasting their money. One reason participation trophies are bad is because they are lowering kids expectations. A study documents that over one half of students believe they should receive a B just for arriving and joining in. This impression of this privilege is threatening for our generation and generations to come(Hoedel). Studies have shown that kids that are gratified just for participating can have a bad impact, creating an "all about me" ,snobby, and lazy generation of bogus achievers(Grossman). Again participation trophies are causing kids to become rude,stuck up and snobby because once in awhile,snobby self-regard, (that has been placed in them by things that had been handed to them) has been found in crooks, and bullies, which should have been what the self-regard development was attempting to control kids far from.(Grossman) Lastly, the professional term “Partial-reinforcement Extinction effect” means is that if you constantly reward a kid, you spoil them, and you don't build a capacity for them to be resilient to frustration,. In short, protecting kids from the agony of defeat dulles their competitive edge and never teaches them to properly deal with misfortune.(Grossman) This is why we should not let participation trophies be
