Arctic Tundra Cheyenne
Biomes, there are six different types of biomes on Earth. The tundra biome is one of these six on Earth and it has district, different characteristics than the other. There are two tundras so I picked the arctic tundra. The topics I will talk about in this essay are the characteristics, location, climate, some species and plants, and what I have learned.Have fun reading!
This paragraph will be about the characteristics. Arctic tundras are treeless regions. It is very cold and dry there and these tundras have permafrost. That means the ground is permanently frozen. Arctic tundras have simple vegetation structure, there is barely any vegetation. This tundra is know for the short growing seasons, little precipitation, and poor nutrients.

Tundras are located all over the northern hemisphere.
Arctic tundras are located in northern Alaska, Canada, and Siberia. They are mostly located in Arctics and on mountain tops. All tundras cover 20% of the Earth. These tundras do not exist in the southern hemisphere or in Antarctica because tundras are much colder than the southern hemisphere.
There are different kinds of climate in different places. In the arctic tundra, it is very cold and it is the coldest and harshest place on Earth. It has low precipitation which is less than 10 inches per year. During the winter time the average temperature -34° C (-30° F) and in the summer the average temperature is 3-12° C (37-54° F). Most of the year the ground is covered with snow and and in the summer the ground is filled with wildflowers. Melting snow is 15 to 25 cm.Also the rainfall here is very scant and it may vary in different regions of the arctic.
In this paragraph, I will write about some animals. I will also write about some plants. Some animals are the Arctic Fox, Polar Bear, Muskox, Arctic Wolf, and Caribou. Some plants are Arctic Moss,Bearberry,Labrador Tea, Tufted Saxifrage, and Pasque Flower. These plants and animals depend on each other to
survive. This paragraph is going to be about what I have learned. Also this is the conclusion. I have that summer in tundras are 6 to 10 weeks long or 50 days long. I have also learned that tundras are the most harshest and coldest biome on Earth. The biome I chose was the tundra biome. I also hope you learned something new.
Blacksad: Vol 2 Arctic Nation is written by spanish author Juan Díaz Canales and drawn by spanish artist Juanjo Guarnido. The story and setting is film noir style, in late 1950s Americana with all anthropomorphic characters. The story begins when private investigator Blacksad sees a lynching of a black vulture, where he meets a reporter named Weekly (weasel), his future sidekick. It is revealed that Blacksad is working for Elementary school teacher Miss Grey, who asks to look for a missing girl named Kaylie, and tells him her suspicions that the girl was kidnapped by white supremacist group Arctic Nation. After befriending Weekly, they go to local dinner joint, where they are harassed by members of Arctic Nation. After this encounter, they are at the police station, where it is revealed that the leader of Arctic Nation
What is a biome? Biomes are major life zones characterized by vegetation type or by the physical environment. Climate plays a role in determining the nature and location of Earth’s biomes. Texas has 10 different ecosystems with lots of diversity. Minnesota has 4 different ecosystems which are also quite diverse. Regardless of the size of the biomes or the number of biomes in each state, they are all important not just to the locate environment but on a global level because of the life they support. We are going to take a look at the different biomes, comparing climate and rainfall, as well as vegetation fauna.
Although industrialization revolutionizes America, it possesses devastating effects on nature. In 2003, The Arctic National Wildlife Refuge was threatened by plans of oil drilling and the construction of roads and pipelines. In response, former United States President Jimmy Carter crafted a speech, found in the foreword to book written by Subhankar Banerjee, with the intent of protecting the reserve. By utilizing diction, imagery and pathos, President Carter was effective in convincing America to protect the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge.
The word Tundra comes from the Finnish word Tunturia which means treeless plain. There's no vegetation because of the extreme weather conditions. It is located near the north pole and it also covers a fifth of the earth's surface. If it's too cold not vegetation can grow because of the ice caps not melting, if it gets a little warmer than maybe roots can grow. The arctic tundra has two seasons winter and summer, but the sun only heats up the tundra to 3 degrees celsius to 12 degrees celsius. When the sun cannot rise the temperatures drop to very cold conditions around -70 degrees celsius while the average temperature is -28 degrees celsius. The rain levels in the tundra are 6 to 10 inches a year because most of it falls as snow instead. It is basically a very cold desert.
Essay question: Compare and contrast the relationship between man and nature in Emerson and Thoreau.
There’s wet tundra, alpine tundra, glaciers and iceland, coastal western hemlock/ Sitka spruce forest, and post-glacial meadows and thickets. As for marine ecosystems, continental shelf, wave-beaten coasts, and fjord estuaries have been
The Arctic conditions are extreme; they consist of sub-zero temperatures, heavy snow, strong winds and ice. To survive these conditions animals must keep a constant body temperature to maintain the optimum temperature for essential chemical reactions to take place. If a living cell cools to a temperature below 0°C then ice crystals can form which will puncture the cell membrane causing the cell to burst. If a living cell reaches temperatures above 45°C then the proteins (including enzymes) are denatured; therefore no longer work. This means that the thermal limits for life are 0-45°C. Animals must regulate their body temperatures' between these bounds to survive. Mammals and birds stay closer to the upper bound.
The tundra artic plains completely cover most of the earth’s lands north of the coniferous forest belt. The tundra’s ecosystem is very sensitive. It doesn’t have the ability to restore itself. Controlled by sedge, heath, willow, moss, and lichen. Plains that are pretty much alike, called alpine tundra, occur above the timberline in the high mountains of the world.
of about -9° C (about 16° F) and an average July temperature of about 22° C
Generally though since climate more or less corresponds vegetation zones, the Tundra is located in Arctic climate areas. Temperature The Tundra suffers from a very harsh climate. Because of this fact most of the area remains barren, save for a few shrubs and lichens. Winters last from 8-10. months and the summers are cool and short.
The Arctic Fox can live up to 3 to 6 years. The Arctic Fox can live in extremely cold weather. The Arctic Fox usually lives in burrows, or they would dig holes, or tunnels in the snow. But that is mainly only when blizzards come. The Arctic Fox has pretty white (and sometimes it is gray) fur. They use it to camouflage in the snow. Their fur is actually pretty cool, because it changes colors when the season changes. It is either brown or gray. The color of the fur helps for when the Fox hunts its prey. The Arctic Fox can eat vegetables also. The Arctic Fox has a big bushy tail, and it helps keep the fox warm in the winter. Apparently The Arctic Fox likes to steal goose eggs from their nests. And the shed their fur in the summer. Arctic Foxes have a strong nose. They can smell seal lairs miles and miles
Before you hear about the solutions first you should learn some more about the problems. The tundra biome is the coldest biome and is
A tundra is a biome where trees and plants don't grow as much because of the cold freezing temperatures. The tundra has lots of warm animals that contain a lot of fur because of how cold the temperatures are there. There are mountain goats, sheep, marmots, and birds that live up there. The only way those animals survive is by eating the lying insects and eating the plants that rarely grow there. The shelter for these animals is going under a rock because the rocks protect them from the wind and it's warmer for them. Also other animals that live up in the tundra is Arctic foxes, polar bears, gray wolves, caribou, snow geese, and musk-oxen. The Tundra has harsh winters and hard summers. During the summer it last 50-60 days and it is sunny 24/7.
The major biomes are the tundra, taiga, tropical rain forest, temperate forests, desert, grassland, savanna, chaparral, and marine. Each biome has it’s own characteristics, such as the tundra. The tundra is a biome that is located in the Northern Hemisphere of the world. It circles the North Pole and reaches down to the Taiga. The tundra has a very cold and harsh climate, especially in the winters.
The Arctic region is home to a variety of valuable animals and plants, including polar bear, seal, and so on. The ecosystem of the Arctic region is fragile because these animals are evolved to live in extreme conditions. With the climate change, many animals are endangered. Ice is the habitat of polar animals because they have to rely on sea ices for resting, food, and reproduction. With the climate change and the decrease of sea ice, the number of polar animals is decreasing and their health is threatened. For example, the average weight of female polar bears in 1980 was about 650 pounds, but the number reduced to about 500 pounds in 2004 (Djoghlaf 15). The earlier breakup and later condensation of sea ice shortens the hunting season of polar bears. Polar bears mainly feed on seals that indwell icy land. The melting ice reduces the number of seals and food intake of polar bears. In addition, polar bears are used to living in ice caves. The rising temperature causes the collapse of ice caves, which can kill baby bears. The climate change is negatively affecting the biodiversity in the region and will definitely harm the ecosystem
