And he said to me, “For two thousand three hundred days; then the sanctuary shall be cleansed.”
So, we know the length of the time—2,300 days. But we do not yet know what the 2,300 days means and when it begins.

First, the concepts earlier in the book of the ram and the goat give us a clue, as these are both the basic sacrificial animals. But more definitively, the concepts of nitsdaq (judgment) and purification are so clear in this book that we find ourselves clearly seeing this day as an antitype of the Day of Atonement, which is described in Leviticus 16 as a Day of Atonement.
8) Then we move to perhaps the most complicated part: establishing the day. As Jesus died during Passover (see Matthew 26), which symbolized His death, we can expect Him to do the heavenly Day of Atonement on the earthly Day of Atonement.
9) From here we move to the next point—what day is the Jewish Day of Atonement on in 1844. For starters, from the material we derive in Leviticus it is always in the fall. According to the rabbinic calendar, it was September 23.
