Introduction The crimes committed by Tsutomu Miyazaki were very cruel acts. Crimes that Tokyo, Japan had never seen before. It was one of the many cases that raised questions about why people commit crimes of such magnitude. Miyazaki , the “Little Girl Killer” , kidnapped and brutally murdered four young girls in the Tokyo area (Moon, 2013). A person like Miyazaki stands out in society because the actions that he took goes against society's norms, therefore meaning it must be something wrong with him but what and why. A theory that can be applied to this case is the Psychological theory, more specifically the mental illnesses- Antisocial personality disorder. The name was based on a collection of Japanese anime that had the female characters seducing older aggressive men. It was a violent and graphic anime which could have been a possible reason why his obsession with them turn into a killing spree because he was trying to reenact the films. Watching that type of anime could have triggered him to engage more in his obsession with child porn and women in general(Moon, 2013). Miyazaki showed signs of antisocial personality disorder before and after the murders. He was impulsive when choosing his victims, whoever he saw he would grab. It was no plan, just his impulse. After the murders, when he confessed he thought that they way he committed his murders were good. He never showed any kind of remorse or empathy for the girls or parents and never apologized for his actions. Although there is no evidence saying he displayed signs in his childhood, he did have a rough upbringing. His sister often tortured him and teased him. He received the same treatment at school with his classmates. His parents never seemed to acknowledge the bullying he was facing, however the consistently emphasized the importance of finishing school, going to college and getting a good career like his
