Ever since the age of 9, I have saved a spot in my heart for the love of animals. Growing up i have always known that i wanted a career involving animal care. Throughout high school i changed my mind several times about my future career, at first being an animal trainer interested me and then i grew an interest in becoming a veterinarian. As several months went by and after volunteering at a veterinarian clinic, i enrolled in college and changed my mind once again. I did not want a career working in the medical field, all i wanted was to care for all animals and not heal them. I looked into being a zookeeper and i told myself, no more changing your mind this will be your career. As the 2017 spring semester was getting closer, i thought about …show more content…
my degree plan and deep down i was not satisfied. After doing research and talking with my friends, boyfriend, and family i was finally able to choose a career that would satisfy me. I have decided to major in business management and minor in animal science. With this degree i will be allowed to start my own business, or manage a zoo, aquarium, farm or any other business that interests me.
Having a minor in animal science will give me a small amount of knowledge to care for animals. When i chose this degree, i felt happy, i felt like my life was beginning and i was excited until recently when registering for classes. My business management degree plan requires that i complete my core classes including an english literature course. I am unable to complete this course, because of a D i recieved in my English 1302 course. The english literature courses all require a C or better in English 1301 and 1302. I have taken English 1302 twice already, and taking it a third time will make me pay a higher tuition. I will be using my Post-911 GI Bill to pay for my spring 2017 semester classes, and they do not cover tuition for 3-peat courses. If my appeal is approved then i will be retaking English 1302 and i will make sure my grade is high and acceptable. After completing my spring semester classes i will be paying out pocket to enroll during the summer semester in a english literature course as well as a math course which is required to be completed before applying to the McCoy College of Business in Fall
2017. I am hoping that my appeal is approved so i am able to move on in my degree plan. I will work hard and i will earn high grades in all my courses, i will not fail and i will succeed.
The Greek word for gymno is “naked” or “bare”, and the word for gyps means “vulture”. The California condor is a bare-headed vulture.
Vet Tech has always been an option for me, helping animals is something that is very interesting. It was introduced in 1989, the AVMA officially adopted the name “Vet Tech.” In 1998, emergency vets debut on Animal Planet. And in 2008, student population grows from 500 to 700. There are about 17,000 people employed in the career field chosen. Some of the common trends of the job would be, working at Zoos, Aquariums, Boarding Kennels, and Wildlife sanctuaries. These jobs are usually found working in an animal clinic or hospitals and sometimes at farms because that is the “normal” areas for this occupation. In this career there are some general duties such as: Observe animals behavior and conditions, Provide nursing care, Bathe animals, Clip nails, groom animals hair, keep animals calm during exams or procedures. The more specific duties of the job would be to: take x-rays of animals and develop them, get utensils and prepare the animals for surgery, keep and record patient's history. Most of the clinics are open 24 hours. There is not anything that is unusual about the number of hours/nature of the job. (Bls.gov.vettech)
I have a plan to attend college once I graduate high school. I have not yet achieved that goal, but I hope to. I want to attend a two year school and study to be a Vet Technician. Hopefully once I do graduate college, I’ll finally be able to work with animals, My dream career. I’m unsure if I want to keep it simple and work in a shelter, or if I want to save lives and become a vet, or perhaps work as a zookeeper. Growing up. I used to always dream about opening my own “Pet Hotel”, maybe someday I could do that. Honestly, I don’t care much about what I do, as long as I’m happy doing it.
My name is Valorie M Altamirano, and I am a Central Arizona College graduate with an Associate degree in Fire Science Technology. Unfortunately, my degree does not meet the liberal study requirements to seek a Bachelor's degree. In order to achieve my goals, it is necessary that I complete seven General Study courses. The hold-up for continuing my education is unemployment, ineligibility for a Pell grant and a hold for a $252 charge that will prevent future
For as long as I can remember, my childhood dream has always been wanting to become a veterinarian. While other kids were outside having fun at the playground, I was at the library reading books and learning about the different animals. However, as I matured, I realized that being a veterinarian isn’t just about caring for and assisting injured animals. Being a veterinarian means having the ability to make quick decisions in stressful situations, showing complete dedication and passion to this profession, and being able to effectively communicate to pet owners.
When I was little my teachers would ask me “Cora, What do you want to be when you grow up”? In reality, I couldn’t make up my mind on what I wanted to be ‘when I grew up’. When I was around seven, I went from wanting to be a Veterinarian to being an Astronaut, then back to a Veterinarian again. Around age 10, I wanted to be a dentist, even though I hate mouths. Then I wanted to be a Veterinarian again. Junior Year of high school came and when we started to research colleges and careers I heard that Premed programs were so hard to get into, and I wasn’t fooling anyone with my grades. I did some research on Veterinarians and I discovered that the Veterinarians don’t really handle the animals like I thought they did. Then I learned about Veterinary Technicians, they do so much with the animals. I
Growing up in rural Texas, you have to learn to care for the things that are important to you. There really is not much to entertain yourself with so many adolescents become vulnerable to trouble. Luckily for me, I grew up with the responsibilities that came with growing up on a farm. I had things to care for on a daily basis and for the longest time, the things I cared for most were animals. I exhibited livestock in my youth and this is where I spent the majority of my time. I would come home from football or basketball practice and go straight up to the barn to tend to my animals. Along with feeding and cleaning, I would often administer vaccinations and antibiotics when needed. Because of my interest in medicine and science coupled with my love for animals some could say that I was destined to become veterinarian. The major I chose, animal science, even supported that notion. However, it was not until the summer after my freshman year of undergraduate where I realized it was human medicine that my heart was yearning for.
Just recently I have been accepted to Texas A&M University I have also decided my degree choice will be biomedical science. With a biomedical science degree I have over fifty career choices I can go into. Also, this is my backup plan if I am not accepted into vet. School right away. The choices of careers range form agricultural economist, animal breeder, dentist, game manager, veterinarian assistant, and even zoologist. I have decided that what ever my career will be, it will be in agriculture and will deal with animals. Animals are so interesting and tricky they can’t tell you what is wrong with them like people can. With animals you have to find out for yourself.
This job appeals to me because I really enjoy working with animals and I would like to travel around the word to study all kinds of different animals. I think it would be fun to travel to places like Africa and the Amazon to study the different animals in those two places.
Cats and dogs are fun to play with and fun to be around. However, some people go for snakes, birds, or rodents; most people usually prefer a four-legged animal like a cat or dog. Dogs and cats share seldom similarities, but they 're totally different. They have different attitudes, habits, and needs. Wanting love, loyalty, and protection, a dog is a choice. Cats, on the other hand, don 't need attention nor love. Sometimes do we take advantage of our animals because of their size and vulnerability? Beating, improper care, and use of fighting, causes harm to our furry pets. Inflicting pain and making our animals suffer is atrocious. Because our animals can 't speak for themselves, we need to speak for them and stop animal abuse.
Working with animals has always been what i wanted to do because personally, i am a animal lover and will try to do everything i can for them. I do believe that this job can be difficult at times because the outcome may not come out like you wanted it to be. The worst part about this job is dealing with the deaths of the animals and then telling the owners about it. It will become very stressful in the long run because you can do you best but it may not come out like the way you planned and then you would have to deal with that pain of losing someone 's animal. Working with animals is a great chance for you to learn different things and you can get the chance to go places and go to different vet offices and learn other ways to do
I have thoughtfully decided to not let anything stop me from trying to get into vet school and have told myself that the odds might not be in my favor, but I will have to make them be. After graduating from veterinary school, I would love to begin practicing at a city or any zoo that I can get into with my doctorate in veterinary medicine. I have always been interested in exotic animal behavior, physiology, anatomy, and health care. But I have done my research, and I have asked other veterinary doctors, and I learned that it is not easy to get a job at a zoo. I was told that a lot of kids have the same idea going into vet school, and that it is not easy. But no matter what, I plan to open up my own exotic animal hospital and with this I hope to better the lives of animals. I hope to travel the nation and provide cheap, or hopefully free, spays and neuters to animals in shelters or to owners in need. I believe that it is necessary to prevent unwarranted and excessive births of animals who will not be placed in a good
How will animal research tell us the outcomes of the human body? How can we live longer and healthier lives with the use of animals? Do animals have a link to the human body that we are able to prove that trying new drugs or new cosmetics will be a benefit for us? I disagree. I believe we test on animals to figure out what are the possible outcomes for humans; however, the use of animals is cruel and unnecessary because they do not have a similar body system as humans do.
Disney World is one of the most magical places on Earth to go with family and friends. All the disney characters bring kids joy, happiness, and excitement. Having everyone come together and have a good time is the best thing to do. Animal Kingdom is one of my favorite places to go to at Disney World and also seeing different animals is a plus. The Animal Kingdom has epic rides, delicious ice cream, and great entertainment.
For as long as I can remember I have been engrossed by the animal kingdom, and as I have been growing up my fascination has only increased and my aspiration to learn about what went wrong and how to discover ways to solve the problem, especially in relation to the welfare of animals. I have invaluable experience with working with livestock as I have grown up on a suck cow farm. As well as growing up in this environment I have attained several weeks of work experience. The work experience I have undertaken has given me a realistic insight into what the entire wide-spectrum veterinary career consists of, including the highs and the lows. Having volunteered in the MSPCA for two weeks I got an insight into animal welfare issues, particularly the
