An animal is abused every 10 seconds (SOURCE). The abuse needs to stop. These animals are with us for their entire lives, while they are only with us for a part of our life. They are being tortured in experimental labs, at farms, and even at houses. Animals are getting abused all over the world, and if we work together to help the Animals Rights Movement, we can help animals everywhere.
First off, yes, animals can’t speak or reason ,but they still suffer and are sentient like anything or anyone else. The animals in factory farms, experimental labs and even at home all suffer from domestic violence. The LD50 test and Draize test are two awful tests being used on animals. So many animals have went through these tests and have to suffer from the effects from these tests. Animals from the Draize test have gone blind and have to live the rest of their terrible lives blind and painfully. Also, animals from the LD50 test go through extreme and excruciating pain just in the beginning of the test. The other 50% of animals that do make it alive eventually die from having seizures, convulsions and start to lose the ability to move. Animals in any of these tests will suffer until their lives are over.
Next, is the history of the movement. Prevention of cruelty to animals became an important movement in early 19th Century England, where it grew alongside the humanitarian current that advanced human rights, including the anti-slavery movement and later the movement for woman suffrage (Walls). The Society of Prevention of Cruelty to Animals was created in 1822 by Colonel Richard Martin. Since he created this group in Britain the people of America followed. Henry Bergh created the American SPCA in 1866 in New York.
