Since before even preschool i had had a crush on my best friend Anika Jackson, she was extremely smart, almost to the point of absurdity, her intelligence left mine in the dust, to call her a genius would be the understatement of the century, she was into all the same stuff as me, science physics, fantasy, sci fi, books, computers, star trek, animals, logic, and so much more. She was funny, but in a nerdy kind of way, we were constantly making puns none else got, computer jokes that confused everyone we knew, heck, she even liked my jokes. She was pretty too, she had platinum blond hair, blue eyes, and a face that portrayed an innocence more deeply rooted than even her intelligence. We had been friends for longer than I can remember, and …show more content…
The relationship i had with annika was no less serious than that of two adults that eventually get married. There is a difference between a childhood crush and actual love, but the difference cannot easily be judged by those not in the relationship. Nor can it be judged by the level of romantic acts between to lovers. Annika and I never went beyond a kiss, but still deeply cared for one another. I know of teenage couples that resulted in pregnancies, but had no more emotional depth than two strangers passing each other on the street. Annika and I were in a relationship of mutual love for one another, and as such, the only intimacy that occurred was out of affection, nothing else. So the most intimacy we experienced was the occasional kiss. But unlike many relationships, these came from love and affection, not lust or desire. A relationship for the purpose of bragging rights is not a real relationship. Neither is a relationship for the purpose of getting into someone's pants or having eye candy. These relationships do not, and can never have the strengths of one based entirely on affection. The kind of relationship annika and i had was one such relationship. These are the relationships that give truth to the phrase “it is better to have loved and lost, than never to have loved at all.” . while both annika and were heartbroken when she moved, neither of us had
This girl was everything I wanted, she loved nature, she was open minded, creative and smart. Christina was just like Mary. After the first year of University was done there was a huge student party on the residence. Me and Christina went off to the party together, we both met so many new people. But the one thing I haven't had in months was Silent Sam, and he was there. Through out the midd...
The Age of Jackson, written by Arthur M. Schlesinger, focuses on the long lasting effects of Andrew Jackson on democracy and American politics. The novel starts off with Jackson’s life story, a lowerclass boy from the west, raised by a single mother. After finding financial success on his own, he became well known for his military exploits, being a crucial factor in the Battle of New Orleans, and the acquisition of Florida from the Spanish. After the brief account of Jackson’s life, the author moves on to his administration, and stays with that topic for most of the book.
(TS) Stonewall Jackson was a military strategist and confident leader in the confederate army, Stonewall isn’t his first name but he earned it through his stern and impressive coordination of his men. Though he sided with the not so appreciated side of the war he is undoubtedly one of the better Generals in the war. Unfortunately he died due to one of his men shooting him by accident. His life was filled with peril and success like everyone else and died like everyone does.
Couples should love unconditionally because it is true love that is more than infatuation Nozick notes,
Shirley Jackson was born in San Francisco on December 14, 1916, a year prior to the U.S. entering World War I. It was a very tumultuous time in the world and especially influential in Ms. Jackson’s life as she developed through childhood. Events of the time that may have influenced Ms. Jackson’s view of society when growing up included the introduction of prohibition, the Roaring 20’s, women’s suffrage, and the advent of the Great Depression. Women were beginning to exercise their independence and more exciting opportunities to develop creativity as a female finally seemed a real possibility.
Michael Joseph Jackson was born on August 29, 1958 in Gary, Indiana (Sullivan 1005). His parents were Joseph Jackson and Katherine Scruse (Sullivan 1005). Michael was one of nine children. Michael and his siblings were not allowed to call their father “daddy” they were to call him Joseph (Collins 8). Michael was married and divorced twice in his lifetime. “His first marriage was to Lisa Marie Presley, daughter of Elvis Presley, in 1994” (Collins 22). They were married for two years, and had no children. Lisa filed for divorce in 1996 (Sullivan 1014). That same year Michael married Debbie Rowe. Five months after Lisa divorced Michael, Debbie became pregnant with his first child, Michael Joseph Jackson Jr. It could be concluded that Michael married Debbie because she was carrying his child. Michael and Debbie wed on November 14, 1996 after one of his concerts. On April 3, 1998 Debbie gave birth to their second child, Paris Michael Katherine Jackson. Their marriage ended in 1999. “In 2002, an unidentified surrogate mother gave birth to Michael’s third child, Prince Michael Jackson II” (Collins 23). Prince Michael Jackson is also known as Blanket (Sullivan 1016).
Andrew Jackson was one of the most controversial presidents that has governed the United States, both historically and while he was the leader of the country. Like many Americans during the time he was born, Andrew Jackson was born to Scottish and Irish immigrant parents on March 15, 1767. It is unclear for certain which, but Jackson was born in one of the Carolinas, which at the time were British colonies. Jackson was raised as a child of the frontier, and likewise received the type of sporadic education that most children got at the time, with formal primary education being years away. Jackson would become an orphan in the American Revolution, and gained early experience in battle, foreshadowing his future military career. In the years after the war, Jackson would study law for a time, becoming a traveling lawyer on the frontier. He would also rise in prominence and gain wealth through the purchase of land and slaves, becoming a planter as well as a merchant and lawyer. At the same time as he acquired affluence, Jackson delved into politics, becoming a delegate to the constitutional convention for the state of Tennessee, where he was living. In a quick timeframe, Jackson would go from this position to a representative in the House for his state to becoming a U.S. senator representing Tennessee (Tregle, Joseph G., Jr.).
In the 1820-1830’s, Andrew Jacksonian Democrats boasted their glorious actions to defend the American people. Andrew Jackson claimed to be “the common man,” but some of actions seemed more like a king. Andrew Jackson’s opponents tried to exploit his overassertion of authority. Some of Andrew Jackson’s actions and policies promoted the common people, while his other actions exploited the people and created an ineffective democracy.
I’m 17 now. 17 years of endurance and if you think it gets easier, think again. I had my first crush then, she being a bud that blossomed beautifully into the ripe of age of 17. She was the epitome of lovely. Making my insides flutter and brain turn to mush whenever she graced me with her charming smiles and calming presences. But oh how much I detested myself even more then. As I caught her secretly wiping her palms onto her skirt after shaking my clammy hands. She knew of my condition and that small action alone was yet another painful sting to remind me of how I just wasn’t the
It all started the first week of grade 10. I was walking to math class and i met up with a few of my lunch crew friends. I noticed my friend Ashlea talking to Erin Berring. Erin was an attractive, smart and fashonable girl. I always had a thing for smarties. In school she had straight A's, and was also the leader of the female wrestling team. I felt a little up on myself that day for some reason. I figured there was no better time then the present to chat it up a little. The conversation went quite well, which was different from what I expected. She even asked for my number so we could continue our talk later that night. "Why would she be interested in me?," I said to myself. After all, she seemed way out of my league.
The creation of a legend involves an enduring struggle and a triumphant recovery from that struggle. On January 21, 1824, the legend of Thomas “Stonewall” Jackson was created in Clarksburg, Virginia. As early as two years old, his older sister died of typhoid fever. His father, Jonathan Jackson, died of that same disease a short amount of time after leaving his wife, Julia Neale Jackson. His death separated him from his wife and three children with immense amounts of debt to pay off. In 1830, Julia Jackson remarried a man who apparently disliked his stepchildren. Thomas Jackson and his siblings were then sent to live with another relative due to this mutual disliking between the children and their new stepfather. The future Civil War general

I am one to be attracted to someone for whom they are first and follow with physical appearance. I already had an attraction for her even though our friendship had just started. Since I had an attraction for her solely from our similarities and her personality, the physical attraction was soon to arise and become important. Of course I always thought Leah was pretty, I just never worried about looks in the beginning. Yet since I had learned so much about her, it was time for my physical attractiveness to take over. This attraction not only brought us closer but increased the tension between the friendship giving it power to become more than a friendship. It seemed as everything was almost perfect. No conflicts of any sort had arisen after finding this new attraction, but this was soon to
We started talking daily and after a couple months it evolved into a sublime but content friendship. Kara asked for my hand in a class on a beautiful cloudless morning. I couldn’t get myself to come to the realization that she might actually like me more than a friend. But I declined. I knew it couldn’t be real and I didn’t look forward to being embarrassed. It had to be a joke and even if it wasn’t, she was too good for me. I wouldn’t want to bring her down to my level especially when she could have any guy she wanted.
When I was a young girl in elementary school I developed a friendship with a girl that lived a block from me. We began visiting each other’s homes every day. Having sleep overs, riding the bus together and even sitting with each other during lunch. We developed a friendship that couldn’t be broken. It didn’t matter that I was African American and she was Caucasian her whole family made me feel like I was one of their own. While I didn’t know much about anything and didn’t really know what family meant I learn it from her family. She taught me how to line dance and I learn to love his strange music that was peaceful and full of love called country music. It had a way of making your feel happy when you were down. We formed a bond and became best friends she was the only friend I had and I remember when her other friends came to visit I grew kind of jealous because I thought they would take her away from me and I would be all alone again so I became distant. She was such a great friend and for somehow she knew what was bothering me without me even having to say anything so she told me that it shouldn’t worry we will always be friends and it’s okay to have more than one best friend. She was so wise for her age I use to think to myself. As I grew older my mother and siblings and I moved out of town and I lost connection with her but with the increased technology like Facebook we have reconnected. I believe attraction played a major part on us becoming friends. Our friendship started on the school bus on the ride home from school. A couple of bullies started picking on her because of her freckles and fi...
