Two pairs of hands and two voices applaud me. I raise my hand to shield my eyes from the blinding light, that now seeps through, between my fingers. As the applause intensifies, their silhouettes emerge. My mouth curves as I lower my hand and stare down at my feet.
“You were fantastic,” says Angelo.
As I raise my gaze to search for him, I find Alice beside him, covering her excited giggle behind her hands. She rests her palms together under her chin, lacing her fingers together, allowing her smile to shine as she mouths, “You were fantastic.”
“Thank you.” Though I whispered into the microphone, my voice echoes loudly through the speakers, bringing forth a hot blush to my cheeks.
“Come down, let’s talk about your hours,” says Angelo, turning

His face beams almost as much as my own.
One side of Frankie's mouth curves, accentuating the scar upon his lip. “She was, Angelo, she was.”
My wide eyes dart back and forth from the pair as they talk about me like I'm not sitting with them.
“You mentioned writing that song a few years ago,” Angelo asks me. “Did you write it with someone in mind?”
“Not really. I went through some difficulties and lonely years. I guess my imagination juices flowed and created this

“Eva, I need to get some information from you.” Frankie slides an A4 sized folder with a pen clipped to it, filled with forms, across the table.
While the others continue conversing, I scribble down my information. Once finished, I close the folder and slide it back towards Frankie.
After flipping through the forms, he says “Great, you're officially part of the Mustang family.”
I can't stop my wide smile from emerging or the frenzied beat of my heart, making me giddy. I glance over to Alice to find her mirroring my facial expression.
Angelo slides his jacket sleeve a little way up his arm revealing a Rolex. “It's five o'clock now, we still have three hours before opening. Are you girls hungry? I'd like to take you somewhere for a meal.”
I sense Alice begging me to say no, that we will eat somewhere alone and return for my shift. But how can I say no to my new employer? I chew on my lip. What should I say?
“I know somewhere quiet. No one will bother us,” Angelo continues.
I gaze at Alice with silent pleads. She tilts her head, giving me the, ‘you owe me big time for this one’ look.
As my lips curve, I return my gaze to Angelo. “We would love
"Two-Bit, I swear, if you don't shut up I will come over there and personally beat the tar outta you."
I also don't own the idea, it was requested to me by the wonderful Amanda. Thank you so much! I hope I did this idea justice.
At the same time: Snap-Whoosh-Growl-Snap-Whoosh-Growl! Return with a fierceness, causing the rest of the men to separate into two groups with some moving to the left in search of the origin of the beastly sounds and the others moving to the right, combining their numbers with those searching for their missing brethren, while Gottlieb stays behind.
I knew it would happen. As much as I tried to stay optimistic, to put off my feelings of suspicion to an old man's negativity, I knew that this case would cost me something more than just my reputation in the town and that didn't even really matter. In Maycomb, reputation is a day by day concept. Sure, we have more than enough of our fair share of immovable gossipers, and drama kings and queens looking for a story to spread. But in everyone's own mind, if you did something stupid, immoral, or just mildly humorous or entertaining, it was the talk of the town and you were judged terribly for a few days, a few weeks tops. Then the whispers, and glances faded to conversations over coffee, and deep inside jokes. My reputation didn't bother me one bit.
"To this day I wonder what he really thinks of me. Is he proud of me?"
“Do you understand the impact of your music and the magnitude of influence that you had for many?” I said excitedly hoping for a reply.
She listened as I spoke, gently massaging her belly, never taking her eyes from my face. When I was finished, she said, “You’ll be okay. I have confidence in you.”
"Yes, I believe I'm ready," Lilah assured, closing the folder after skimming over the essentials one last time, the image of the patient engraved in
I felt him tense up, and I feared he'd just get really uncomfortable like he normally would. Then, he relaxed and put an arm around my shoulders, pulling me closer. I smiled. "There's nothing to be thanking me
“Well…” She still sounded concerned,” Here we are! And hold up a sec, k? I wanna give you something.”
“A little well-done for my taste, but ok,” Mary said. “I need to talk to you about something.”
My lip twitched, "I know how to sound like you. I've done it before, and no one suspects a thing."
hello. I smile back at her and ask what she's been up to. But I don't even
I was so glad that she did not realize any bad reflection on my body language. I smile at her: “She is very pretty, and thank you for sharing.” I walk out of her desk after went through the rest of pictures with her, and I make sure that she enjoyed very much the conversation with me.
As the crowd built up, it moved towards the doors that led into the actual theatre. I could see that some type of fog machine was at work. A pale mist came out of the cracks of the door. The inconspicuous sound of music could be heard just over the chatter of the crowd of people. Behind those doors there was a thrilling adventure about to ta...
