Good, now I want you to picture yourself in medieval England during a time of kings and kings . Put yourself in the stands of spectators watching a jousting match between two noble knights. Now imagine for just a second that these knights are beating the living tar out of each other to a soundtrack of classic rock n’ roll music. Brian Helgeland was a genius for making this the opening scene for A Knight’s Tale. The story of a peasant in the 15th century who pretends to be a knight, becomes a jousting champion, and would dare to court the daughter of a noble. There are those who would say that this movie breaks all tradition by telling a tale of knights and kings to a soundtrack of classic rock. These people may as well be arguing that it breaks every commandment in the movie rulebook by mixing classic rock and the middle ages together. There is only one question to ask. Who exactly cares? All movies state that there must be a villain, and that would be none other than Count Adhemar (Rufus Sewell) . Now given that the knights wear face plates, it might seem a little hard to distinguish them. Good thing, since time immemorial the great, and revered movie geniuses have managed solve this dastardly dilemma by giving the good knights attractive facial armor.
