The film Lion was made in 2016, created by Garth Davis. Lion is an Australian film based on a true story. An Indian boy who gets lost in his family and home gets adopted by an Australian family. Throughout the film, the importance of family is shown. Saroo makes a family as he goes through life and revisits the past. It shows how family can get you through hard times and how there is a happy way out. In the film it is shown that family doesn't have to be blood to be important. This is shown when Saroo moves to Melbourne and meets a group of Indians who he connects with. While Saroo tells his story, Davis uses camera angles to highlight Saroo and his new friends to emphasise the emotions. expressions are integrated, and the room is silent. The silent room adds the serenity and adds more intensity to the scene. The group and especially Lucy is what got Saroo to find his family, without them he would still have a sense of loss. …show more content…
“My dad was an alcoholic, he wasn't a good man.” Her saying he wasn't a good man could indicate he did something to her, showing she has had a hard life. Something had blown up and she had a vision, “for the first time I felt something good.a little boy like you was standing with me” this is when she realised she had a purpose in this world and she would finally belong to a family. The director in this scene does a close up on her face to show that she is speaking truthfully and to show her tears. It is dark in the room to give the audience a feeling that something isn't
It takes a lot of courage and boldness to step out of your comfort zone to stand up for yourself and what you believe in. This is clearly shown in the movie, Secondhand Lions, directed by Tim McCanlies, when 14 year-old Walter is dropped off by his irresponsible mother for an unannounced visit with his two great-uncles, Garth and Hub. Walter is dumped with his uncles for the summer because his Vegas-bound floozy of a mother, Mae, decides to attend court reporting school, but ends up engaged to a guy in Vegas. With the bad influence of his mother and a lack of a father figure, Walter has never learned how to stand up for himself but his uncles soon teach him that. As the movie continues, Walter changes from his timid self into someone bold and gallant.
Out of all of the poems we read, personally “They Feed They Lion” by Philip Levine stuck with me the most. Ironically, this was the poem I probably had the most difficulty understanding but after analyzing it and attempting to make sense of it, I became very transfixed on the style and eloquence of the work.
The theatrical film The Lion In Winter stars Peter O’Toole as King Henry II, and Katharine Hepburn as his wife, Queen Eleanor of Aquitaine. Adapted from his stage play of the same title, author James Goldman provides a fictional, but plausible, account of intra-family deceit and political conniving within the large and powerful Angevin Empire, which spanned much of the land that is now Britain, and much of what is now Northeastern France, within the medieval world. Directed and edited by Anthony Harvey, the story, set in the winter of 1183, details the succession crisis faced by the aging King Henry II, as his three surviving sons vie for the crown, and Queen Eleanor plots, both with and against them, to regain her freedom, and become the power behind the throne occupied by her choice of successor. King Philip of France patiently waits, seeking political advantage within the internal fracturing, for the opportunity to destroy the Kingdom that Henry II has worked a lifetime to build.
I watched the movie Animal House; it gave me an interesting perspective on academic life in the 1960’s. The movie follows two friends Lawrence "Larry" Kroger and Kent Dorfman, as they try to gain acceptance from a fraternity at Faber College in 1962. The movie starts off with Larry and Kent going to a social event at one of the better fraternities on campus the Omegas. The Omegas are the snooty, uptight, rich fraternity. Larry and Kent are not like them and find themselves uncomfortable but try their best to fit in. They are made fun of and they leave disappointed without a bid. They head over the Delta Tau Chi House where Kent’s brother used to be a member making Kent a legacy. There they meet John "Bluto" Blutarsky, who seems to be a little crazy. Delta Tau Chi offers the boys a bid because they need the due money. We next are introduced to the main protagonist Dean Vernon Wormer. The dean dislikes the Delta’s and there party attitude. The Delta house is already on probation so the dean puts them on double secret probation. He enlists the president of t...

Throughout the fantasy film, Conan the Barbarian, the directors use many different film techniques to imply to the audience a specific message or deeper meaning. The film is about a young boy losing his family and being forced into slavery under the ruling of Thulsa Doom and his followers. Conan grows up being exposed to a barbaric lifestyle. He then uses this lifestyle to defeat Thulsa Doom and the disturbing ritual-like worshiping of the serpent. The directors use of cinematography to convey relationships, and costumes to portray the time period and social status of the characters.
The success of an organization depended on how well their leadership is. Erik Peterson had a long work ahead of him and being a newly graduate with no experience, he struggled managing the operation and proving superb leadership. The underlying causes of Biometra’s problems stem from two main factors: internal and external factors. This is not the case with Zappos however, where they stemmed from hardly any issues because of their effective leadership and being able to motivate their workers successfully. Internal factors included: lack of communication, inexperienced leadership, conflict with workers, equipment conflicts, and no guidelines promotion and salary. For external factors: operation issues and location problems regarding the launch

For decades Disney has been the source of happy endings, fairytales, and family friendly stories for children of all ages. These stories range from realistic and familiar, to the eye-catching magical fairytale. The key to each of these stories are the happy endings brought about by each of the characters unique personalities and dreams. Disney’s films are attempted to provide children with the basic understanding of wrong versus right, but instead influences our society’s beliefs and awareness. Although Disney’s efforts to provide the basic morals to our children are misleading and affect our society strongly, they also contain the use of racism in a form which shows the major differences between characters. The once admired and well-known characters are seemed to be recognized by their species, ethnicity and even their social class. Disney films have taken out of context and have persuaded their viewers understanding of racial stereotyping, which is thoroughly explained in Henry Giroux and Grace Pollock’s novel, The Mouse that Roared. They bring awareness to the underlying racial stereotyping in Disney films, which deeply affect our societies understanding today. Giroux and Pollock bring into perception these admired and regularly watched films through precise examples and racist rendering of the specific characters species and ethnicities which strongly influence our society and lead children to intake these negative influences.
