Stephen Sondheim's “Company” with the New York Philharmonic was a wonderful welcome to the core of musical theater's finest creation. I was attracted to "Company" because it was well known as an unforgettable theatrical experience that will take me on an adventure into the maze of modern romance and deeper reflection. The decision to analyze "Company" was driven by an appreciation for Sondheim's amazing creativity as well as the excitement of seeing great actors bring classic characters to life. The lighting design from Natasha Katz showed the important role of light in shaping both the story and the emotional effect. Katz carefully managed the play of light and shade to make the scene visually interesting and accurate to the characters' changing feelings and problems in the outside world. David Gallo's set design for "Company" was flexible, rapidly moving between several locations while still looking simple and classy. The minimalist style made it easy to adapt, allowing the performers to live in the area without any restrictions and in their own way.
