The article, “Measurement of Romantic Love” written by Zick Rubin, expresses the initial research aimed at presenting and validating the social-psychological construct of romantic love. The author assumed that love should be measured independently from liking. In this research, the romantic love was also conceptualized to three elements: affiliative and depend need, an orientation of exclusiveness and absorption, and finally a predisposition to help.
There were totally three major phases for the research. They are a paper-and-pencil love scale, a questionnaire study of student dating couple and a laboratory experiment.
In order to distinguish the difference between loving and liking, questionnaire should be undergone. Firstly, the love-scale should be set which referred to the association response from the questionnaire. Some questionnaire items had to be provided according to the attitude of the respondents toward the target person. The questionnaire represented the personal visions of two panels of students and faculty about the ideas of love and like. It contained theoretical thinking and pointed to the three elements of love mentioned in paragraph one. The questionnaire items included two categories, like and love and questionnaires were distributed to 158 dating couples at the University of Michigan. The results found that love and like were more strongly related among males than females and it gave some proofs for the suggestion that it was more illustrious for women to differentiate the two emotions than men. The results also showed that women like their male friends more than other side like them. Moreover, women were prone to say love to same-sex friends more than men and those might be some kinds of the gender differe...

The validity was not enough for the whole research. For the questionnaire part, it is valid at that time. Questionnaire items represented the personal visions of two panels of students and faculty about the ideas of love and like. Those questions were chosen under a serious consideration and related to the concept of love and liking. However, some questions are not suitable to use nowadays and this will be discussed below. For the experiment, it was not valid. The author used the eye contact to assess the couples’ visual behavior but it was not a good measurement. Some mature couple would develop into deeper relationship and have closer contact such as hug. Eye contact may not be a way or necessary for them to communicate but this didn’t mean that they were not close.
The thesis of the essay, "His Marriage and Hers: Childhood Roots" by Daniel Goleman, is the emotional difference between men and women. The author, through various research, has concluded that these differences can be traced back to the way children are raised. While I agree that the men and ladies respond diversely to enthusiastic encounter, I should differ to a portion of the examination that was led.
"Romantic love has been the norm since eighteenth-century Europe, when we began connecting marriage with romance." If people did not love each other, then there would be no relationship. Sure, they could try to make it happen, but what would be the point of having the relationship in the first place? If they are trying to escape from something and are not actually motivated by love, they are just creating a new entity to eventually want to escape from. Only love will cause people to remain and stay together in a relationship. According to a study done at Grand Valley State University, titled "The Social Psychology of Love and Attraction", it's true that "shared traits including similarity, religion, ethnic group and race were important features of the other person for over half the participants [in the study]. Each of these traits is linked to a commonality in background. People are subconsciously drawn to others who have the same familial background." This study shows that people do consider factors such as race and cultural identity when seeking a potential partner for a relationship. However, the study also shows that the most important factor in attracting a potential mate is personality. The second most is physical attractiveness. These traits are more important in deciding a potential mate than anything
The article '' love: the right chemistry'' by Anastasia Toufexis efforts to explain the concept of love from a scientific aspect in which an amateur will understand. Briefly this essay explains and describe in a scientific way how people's stimulation of the body works when you're falling in love. The new scientific researches have given the answer through human physiology how genes behave when your feelings for example get swept away. The justification for this is explained by how the brain gets flooded by chemicals. The author expresses in one point that love isn't just a nonsense behavior nor a feeling that exhibits similar properties as of a narcotic drug. This is brought about by an organized chemical chain who controls different depending on the individual. A simple action such as a deep look into someone's eyes can start the simulation in the body that an increased production of hand sweat will start. The tingly feeling inside your body is a result of a scientific delineation which makes the concept of love more concretely and more factually mainly for researchers and the wide...
Although the issues between two genders become serious and difficult to solve with, there still exists love between the two genders. Love is a constant topic among the people. Besides, Love is fantastic, unpredictable, and a main emotional connection in two human beings. There are several couple relationships in two movies. Some of them is searching for freedom of life. Some of them need to concern the ethics of society. No matter how the love has being created, the love is natural moments for human being to express their desires and thoughts.
Robert Nozick’s Love’s Bond is a clear summary of components, goals, challenges, and limitations of romantic love. Nozick gives a description of love as having your wellbeing linked with that of someone and something you love. I agree with ideas that Nozick has explained concerning the definition of love, but individuals have their meaning of love. Every individual has a remarkable thing that will bring happiness and contentment in their lives. While sometimes it is hard to practice unconditional love, couples should love unconditionally because it is a true love that is more than infatuation and overcomes minor character flaw.
Love and affection is an indispensable part of human life. In different culture love may appear differently. In the poem “My god my lotus” lovers responded to each other differently than in the poem “Fishhawk”. Likewise, the presentation of female sexuality, gender disparity and presentation of love were shown inversely in these two poems. Some may argue that love in the past was not as same as love in present. However, we can still find some lovers who are staying with their partners just to maintain the relationship. We may also find some lovers having relationship only because of self-interest. However, a love relationship should always be out of self-interest and must be based on mutual interest. A love usually obtains its perfectness when it develops from both partners equally and with same affection.
Going into details of the article, I realized that the necessary information needed to evaluate the experimental procedures were not included. However, when conducting an experiment, the independent and dependent variable are to be studied before giving a final conclusion.
In this chapter 2 of Knox and Schacht the authors explain the way to conceptualize love as well as all the aspects that are incorporated into love. The ways in which people view romantic and realistic love and how here in America we look at romantic love in a sort of fairy tale way. The authors explain the different styles of love that people can be categorized under in different relationships. Knox and Schacht take a look at arranged marriages in other countries and how love is intended to come after you are married and not before Knox and Schacht 2016, pg. 37-45). If relationships are focused on sexual attraction it takes away from simply being friends with a person which can also lead us to not actually seeing a person for who they really
Love is a concept that has puzzled humanity for centuries. This attachment of one human being to another, not seen as intensely in other organisms, is something people just cannot wrap their heads around easily. So, in an effort to understand, people write their thoughts down. Stories of love, theories of love, memories of love; they all help us come closer to better knowing this emotional bond. One writer in particular, Sei Shōnagon, explains two types of lovers in her essay "A Lover’s Departure": the good and the bad.

The word “love” has always caught attention with its meanings. There have been many definitions used for this word throughout history, beginning with its start during the ninth century. With the examples of current use(from Urban Dictionary, Twitter, a student survey, a song, and a film) it is obvious that the definition of this word has been lost in translation in many different ways. Looking closely at the synonyms, along with the history and current use, the true definition is clearly seen through a usual worldly haze.
Love has been the cause of some of the greatest feats, discoveries, and battles in the history of man. It has driven men to insanity and despair, while it has lead others to happiness and bliss. This idea that love has a strong influence on man’s decisions can be seen in the poem, “Love is not all” by Edna St. Vincent Millay. The most prominent theme presented in “Love is not all” is that although love is not a necessity of life, it somehow manages to provoke such great desire and happiness that it becomes important.
...p love has to do with people that are not relatives, such as classmates. Fake love is when people think or assume someone is in love and it causes confusion because people are assuming the wrong thing. When types of love complement each other, decisions are simple because the kinds of love support each other. On the other hand, contradicting forms of love make decisions difficult because they do not support each and make the character choose which form of love is more powerful. The different types of love found in a person’s life can amaze some people and when making a decision, thinking about how kinds of love interact can make deciding effortless. Although we all might think those four letters of the alphabet are very trouble-some, we have to admit that without them, our lives would be nondescript because everyone needs a little love in their life to enjoy.
In analyzing the aspect of attraction, we take a look at attraction from the perspective of Elaine Hatfield and Ellen Berscheid. Hatfield and Berscheid are American social psychologists whose work has helped to provide insight into what we now know about relationship science. According to Hatfield and Berscheid’s theory on interpersonal attraction, people are attracted to one another for four main reasons. Each reason presented helps to develop the reasons for attraction and relational differences between Landon and Jamie.
The reason why is so difficult to define is that it is one of the most complicated feelings in the human range of emotions. Love is a bundle of emotion felt at the same time. There are many different types of love, family love, friendship love, conceptual love and intimate love. Family love is unconditional, meaning its is timeless and everlasting. The great part of this is love is you can be yourself, make mistakes, and you will always be forgiven. The love shared between friends is similar. But there are boundaries not to be crossed. Friendship love knows that you have someone there to talk to. Especially about things that you could not your parents. Conceptual love is a love of material things, and ideas or characteristics. This love we feel towards object or material things. It also is the feeling of loving characteristic traits, such as kindness, humor, and others.
