“Reading on the Beach”, has now been running for 4 years, it takes place in the first two weeks of every August on Lowestoft’s South Beach. We’re setup just in front of the Lifeguards station, on the beach, in a circle of windbreaks. Inside this circle of Windbreaks, you would see a collection of all different sorts of people, people of all ages, backgrounds, and places. The readers are all varying in age; the youngest we had was 10! Pairs or small groups of readers then go out handing out invitations to families sitting on the beach, who have young children, up to the age of about 10. They also explain who we are and what we do, they also answer any questions.
When it comes to the reading times at about 11

We then aim to read for about 20-30 minutes but have gone on for over an hour on an occasion, where we had nearly 100 children and parents, all begging for more stories!
When we have finished reading, and the children go back to their fun on the beach, we have lunch, a play in the sand and even ice creams occasionally! Then before we start up the next session, we hand out more leaflets to any new families on the beach. When reading time begins again, we often have the same children coming back for more, as well as a whole new crowd clambering in our circle!
“Reading on the Beach” was actually started in the year 2001 by “Caring for Education”, but due to lack of funding, they decided to stop running it in 2003. I was gutted, I loved this project, and it seemed I wasn’t the only one; I had people randomly stopping me in the streets asking if it was going on this year, as they had enjoyed it
campus to the ocean to swim. They have a drink at the bar, the spend the night
My parents have always stressed the importance of reading. Throughout my whole life, they have motivated me to read and they have encouraged me to find books that I find interesting to read. Because of their encouragement, I am an avid reader today. When I was a child, just starting to enjoy reading I liked to read books that were fiction. Some of my favorite books to read as a child are series that I still love today and I think I still have every book in each series stored in my attic. They are The Boxcar Children, Junie B. Jones, and The Magic Tree House.
I spent a minimum of half an hour in full pondering about having to choose a book. Not only a book, but the right book. I wanted to take this project as an opportunity to learn something new by reading literature I would enjoy. I did not want
A.R. reading is the new choice of torture among teachers across the Issaquah School District (411). A.R. stands for Accelerated Reading.
“Youth is not a time of life; it is a state of mind; it is not a matter of rosy cheeks, red lips and supple knees; it is a matter of the will, quality of the imagination, a vigor of the emotions; it is the freshness of the deep springs of life” (Samuel Ullman). As teens go along in life, they learn through the things they read, hear, and see; in particular, when one reads a book, they can connect with the connotations and it can alter someone or influence. Being able to connect to something that another is feeling can really draw people in like bugs to a light. As more and more people can connect to books it becomes more popular so that they may feel a sense of security. Anthem by Ayn Rand and The Giver by Lois Lowry are two very great examples
When my parents read to me, they enjoyed reading Dr. Suess books, which became popular with the publication of The Cat In The Hat. I was only interested in looking at books with color. When the books were colorful they grabbed my attention quickly. I couldn’t wait for my parents to come in my room at night and read to me from The Cat in the Hat. I think that this is one of the popular books that parents should read to their children.
My dad taught me that books could be my teachers, my mom taught me that our backyard could be my classroom, and my sister showed me that you could bring books into the swimming pool. I did not know it when I would spend hours in the pool reading a book that my parents weren’t encouraging it in vain, but my family life, for good reason, was centered on books. We were the planets orbiting around one sun that was the bookshelf. Little did I know that books would be the catalyst to academic success in my early life, and I owe it all to my family. Although a life with a book in your nose might seem boring, I was never bored. Living through the characters vicariously, I explored Narnia with Lucy, attended Hogwarts with Harry, and rode dragons with Eragon. Of course
Maybe between twenty minutes of break that the student can read or start to write an English paper.
.... Children also enjoy books that Rhythmic like. Children enjoy these books because they can participate in the reading. One book that comes to mind when I think of children is “If you Happy and you know it”. This book allow children to jump up and down, clap their hands, and stomp their feet.
A new day has begun. Slowly ascending into the cold dark sky, the sun glows vibrantly with delight. The passionate colours fill the sky with warmth like the pink grapefruits, zesty lemons, citrus oranges and cherry red. The sea so subtle sparkles preciously as it strolls up against the shore. The crystal water that stretch out far into the horizon gets darker and deeper but stays very calm.
As I lay on the minute golden grains of sand, I looked up at the brilliant sky, adorned with flashes of pink and orange and purple, mirroring the colours of a flawless seasoned apricot. The goddess-like sun’s face is being embraced by the demure navy fingertips of the skyline.
[HAN] We mostly go to each other's house, rent a movie or something, watch it, and do homework usually, because we have a whole bunch of homework. On the weekends we would go downtown; it's kind of like a shopping mall. It's a street. There are small restaurants, small cloths shops and all that stuff. It was kind of fun, but nothing special I think.
I use any excuse to walk along the ocean, especially alone and without my phone. The wind blew cold air, but the sun’s warm rays kept my body at a perfect temperature. It was three in the afternoon and I was calm.
My father is a Masters in English Literature, and because, or maybe in spite of that he loves reading, not just classics, but all sorts of books, science fiction, history, war novels, philosophy, you name it he's read it. I can very honestly say that my house resembles more a library than a home. There are books stacked every where, and periodically my mother throws a fit, and threatens to throw them all out, just so that she can have room to move about in.
