Analysis of Lady Macbeth's Speech
I am delirious with happiness at the glad tidings that Macbeth brings.
He says that he met super natural forces upon the heath and recalled
their predictions about his future. He says they predicted that he
will be Thane of Cawdor and he will be greater as time moves on.

“Glamis thou art, and Cawdor, and shalt be what thou art promis’d.

I am delighted with the news. I love my husband, yet I do fear that
Macbeth is too weak and kind. Macbeth seems as if he does not have the
strength, the devilish courage and a reckless spirit to murder
Duncan.
“Yet I do fear thy nature;
It is too full of the milk of human kindness”
I know my husband is ambitious, but he is not callous enough to commit
murder. Without treachery, he will never achieve anything in life. I
am relentless in these thoughts. Duncan has to die so that Macbeth and
I can rule Scotland.
“Art not without ambition, but without the evil that should attend
it.”
I am elated. I wish Macbeth had wings on his feet so that he would
hasten home to me where I can give him the wisdom and courage and help
him clear all doubts that hamper his efforts to become King and attain
the Golden Crown. I will cajole, chastise and convince him till he
believes him and carries out my wishes. This is the fastest way to the
throne and there is no other way.
“Pour spirits into thine ear
And chastise thee with the valour of my tongue
All that impedes thee from the golden round.”
Glad Tidings have come my way. There are bells on my feet and rings on
my toes. I am dancing with ecstasy. A messenger has brought good news
that King Duncan will feasting and boarding in our castle tonight. Can
you believe this? Luck is riding our way.
Macbeth thinks he is unstoppable now because of this revelation and continues with his conspiracy to kill people even though at times he regrets it.
Macbeth has the desire to be the king and would do anything to get the crown.
“If chance will have me king, why, chance may crown me Without my stir?” Macbeth ponders after three witches foresee that he will become king in the tragic play Macbeth written by William Shakespeare (349). Macbeth is wondering how he could become king of Scotland without him intervening as he is not in line for the throne. He believes that he will have to take action to gain this position. Macbeth was right to doubt fate, because his choices led to his ascension to the throne and, later in the play, to his downfall.
Macbeth rejects conformation to traditional gender roles in its portrayal of Lady Macbeth’s relationship with her husband, her morals and their effect on her actions, and her hunger for power. Her regard for Macbeth is one of low respect and beratement, an uncommon and most likely socially unacceptable attitude for a wife to have towards her spouse at the time. She often ignores morality and acts for the benefit of her husband, and subsequently herself. She is also very power-hungry and lets nothing stand in the way of her success. Lady Macbeth was a character which challenged expectations of women and feminism when it was written in the seventeenth century.
Ross: I am sitting before this elderly man. I have found his company to be quite calming in the
Macbeth doesn't seem to be anything but a scared coward who cannot stand for himself. He couldn’t even tell Lady Macbeth that he had killed Banquo.
The descriptive nature of ‘laugh to scorn’ influences Macbeth to stand with confidence and be steadfast in his actions –encouraging him if you will. The power over Macbeth’s mentality is portrayed through his doubtful nature and constant need for reassurance. “Then live, Macduff; what need I fear of thee? But yet I'll make assurance double sure. ”(Act 4, Scene 1).
Splendid Productions adaptation of ‘Macbeth’ was performed on the 13th of December 2016, at the RADA studios, London, and was performed by Scott Smith, Genevieve Say and Mark Bernie. The original version of Macbeth was written in 1606 during the Jacobean era, and the adaptation created in the 21st century. I would agree with the statement as the interpretation by Splendid was created to be enjoyed, engaged and relevant to the audience of the 21st century.
Shakespeare’s Macbeth: Exploring Ambition Macbeth is a tragedy-drama from Shakespeare that is perceived as consuming ambition. Essentially, the word ambition is defined as a strong desire to achieve something, achieved through hard work. In Macbeth, Shakespeare demonstrates powerful ambition in the characters of the drama by giving them an intense desire for power. Furthermore, their unchecked ambition would lead to more chaos, tension, and hamartia throughout the plots in the story.
The scene I chose was act 2 scene 2 of Macbeth written by Shakespeare. It was between two characters, Lady Macbeth and Macbeth. I played the role of Macbeth. In the scene, Lady Macbeth celebrates her plan being a success. Lady Macbeth waits for Macbeth to come with news that he has killed Duncan. Macbeth announces that he has committed the murder but he is so afraid that he brings the bloody daggers with him and Lady Macbeth takes them from him, to place them with the sleeping guards. Macbeth hears knocking sounds which frightens him so his wife comes to lead him away, they then wash the blood from their hands before they get caught. My character was challenging because I had to understand his emotions and find ways of interpreting that on stage. I chose to perform this act because Shakespeare was able to create tension, build the right atmosphere to show them Macbeth’s reaction to Duncan’s murder but also show the relationship between Lady Macbeth and Macbeth. Shakespeare’s use of imagery, dramatic irony, rhetorical questions helped emphasise the guilt Macbeth felt after the murder.
deep down. Macbeth has no control over the way he is. It is his vaulting
Lady Macbeth, one of the main characters in the play Macbeth, is an example of a character that throughout the course of the play has had a change of heart of some sorts. Lady Macbeth's conscience, which seems to have never appeared or mattered to her before, suddenly becomes an uncontrollable part of her psychological state of being.
I know it will… I just know. These last few years have been crazy. I have kept hope, but did not focus on our separation. I continue to stay focused more on my heart and determination to not give up. I weep as I see our freedom as women being taken away from us, but I am so hopeful your life will be different.
O Horror, horror, horror, The sun is strangled by the night, as day is too weak and night too strong. Darkness glooms over the earth when it’s meant to be light. You can hear the cries of grief, strange screams of deaths ushering in a woeful new age. I even dream now of the weird women, I see those things offering sacrifices to the goddess Hectate, and no Merciful power is keeping away the nightmares that plague me when I rest.
