Relevancy of Frankenstein
“The most miserable people are those who care only about themselves, understand only their own troubles and see only their own perspective.” This quote from an unknown source perfectly describes how selfish people are not always happy and they are not helping anyone except themselves. Victor Frankenstein shows many qualities that he is a very selfish person, and Frankenstein has been relevant for almost 200 years, but why? One of the major reasons is that we can learn from and understand that Victor Frankenstein was selfish and only cared about what he thought was right.

The monster tells Victor that he will be there on his wedding night and Victor immediately assumes that it is all about him and that the monster will hunt him down. When in fact, the monster has no intention of killing Victor; he will kill Elizabeth, the person Victor feels the closest to. He decides to not postpone the wedding because he loves Elizabeth so much. Yet, right after they get married and the newlywed couple is on their first trip together, Victor leaves Elizabeth in the inn room where they were staying to go and search for the monster, while he is doing this, the monster sneaks in and strangles Elizabeth to death. Many will judge someone based on the clothes they wear or the way they style their hair. This is a selfish way of making themselves feel better. People tend to try to bring people that are higher than them to their level by breaking them down and insulting them. This is a selfish way to make them feel worthy, and they don’t think about how their words could affect the other person. People also want others to act and be a certain way, but they don’t think that they should have to act in that way. People go on and on about how they wish that others would be nicer or more helpful, yet they themselves are rude, inconsiderate, and could care less about other peoples
