“Heroes can help us lift our eyes a little higher” (LaBarge). LaBarge is saying that heroes inspire us and because they inspire us, the sword Excalibur is popular in animation. Everyone searches for a person who can lead them, who possesses great power, and who can inspire them; the sword Excalibur is always wielded by someone who fits those traits. The powerful blade makes an appearance in the animation Soul Eater, Sword Art Online, and Fate/Stay Night Unlimited Blade Works, which takes different approaches on the sword Excalibur and its abilities. In the chronicles, Excalibur is described as a majestic weapon that possess incomprehensible powers. The sword is always evolving because of how the Arthurian legends were written, the sword inspires …show more content…
In Fate/Stay, Arthur is a beautiful blond girl who wears knight armor and Queen Arthur always refers to herself as a guy. For example she says "I am Arthur, King of the Britons"(Fate/Stay). She refers to herself as king as opposed to a queen because she feels like her kingdom would rather follow a king. Queen Arthur wields the legendary sword Excalibur to defend the mage that summoned her. For most of the animation, Excalibur is an invisible two-handed sword, and when Queen Arthur is pushed into a corner, she will reveal Excalibur and its true powers. Excalibur’s true power is it can cut anything with a blinding yellow light, and in the series, Queen Arthur uses Excalibur to cut the Holy Grail in half. In Fate/Stay, Excalibur is almost identical to the sword Excalibur as it appears in most of the Arthurian legends because both are enormously powerful and wielded by Arthur, but in Fate/Stay’s rendition, it is different because Excalibur can turn invisible and it shoots a blinding yellow light. Fate/Stay is popular in pop culture and animation because Arthur is a girl and because Excalibur is present with its own special powers, making the animation stand out from other King Arthur references, while also making the animation more popular in pop
Moving through art we start to see more and more human figures being represented. At first they appear on paintings, then small figurines, and finally in full body realistic rock sculptures. Two examples of this are Anavysos Kouros and Doryphoros the Spear Bearer.

In the United States, citizens have put forth their views on the rights and wrongs they see in society. This can be observed throughout American history. The United States was founded on freedom, rebellion, and revolution. An example of how Americans have represented revolutionary and rebellious ideals is through the speeches, writings, and civil activists throughout American history. Two writers, from different time periods, who display rebellion and revolutionary ideals through their writings are Henry David Thoreau and Thomas Paine. Henry David Thoreau the author of Civil Disobedience, and Thomas Paine, the author of Common Sense. Although these writers lived in different time periods, they both invoked similar messages through their writings, that
Who was King Arthur? Most people would tell of a great King; a devoted circle of heroic knights; mighty castles and mightier deeds; a time of chivalry and courtly love; of Lancelot and Guinevere; of triumph and death. Historians and archaeologists, especially Leslie Alcock, point to shadowy evidence of a man who is not a king, but a commander of an army, who lived during the late fifth to early sixth century who may perhaps be the basis for Arthur. By looking at the context in which the stories of King Arthur survived, and the evidence pertaining to his castle Camelot and the Battle of Badon Hill, we can begin to see that Arthur is probably not a king as the legend holds.
The balance that defined the samurai's way of life found its focus in his sword. It was both a work of art and a weapon of death. The sword was the soul of the samurai, deemed sacred as the symbol of the warrior. He ate with it, slept with it; he would never be without it. The sword was so precious to him that if he had to leave it somewhere he had a secondary sword to go inside people's homes. He could not be without an edge weapon. It was something that identified him and from which he could not be separated. Accorded the highest status among the daimyō's luxurious possessions, swords were the items most frequently given as gifts among the military houses of the shogun, the daimyō, and their retainers.
In this essay, I will uncover the countless insights that can be learned about the characters in Beowulf, as well as the society as a whole, based on the weapons the characters choose to use in battle. During the Anglo-Saxon time, roughly between 400 and 1066, swords were considered the most precious weapon someone could own. Although it is not certain who wrote Beowulf, and when, many people believe it was composed in the middle to end of the Anglo-Saxon period. Analyzing the different weapons, and significance of each, in Beowulf, and comparing them to the weaponry at the time, provides the readers with a great deal of insight into the society during this period. The use of weapons in Beowulf not only provides the readers with insight into
Arthur was the first born son of King Uther but was advised to stay hidden until the need of his reign. However, when the King died, there was much controversy over who would be the next King. Merlin, a magician who knew of Arthur, set a sword in stone that read, "Whoso pulleth out this sword of this stone is the rightwise born king of all England." When Arthur unexpectedly stumbled across the sword and pulled it out, he humbly took his place as King of England.
I have heard, too, that the monster's scorn of men is so great that he needs no weapons and fears none. Now will I. My lord Higlac might think less of me if I let my sword go where my feet were afraid to, if I hid behind some broad linden shield: my hands alone shall fight for me, struggle for life against the monster (Beowulf page #).
Swords in the Middle Ages had many uses. One of these uses was to knock enemy riders off their horses. Once they were off, their long riding weapons were of no use to defend them. They were bombarded by soldiers and killed easily.
“’Whoso pulleth out this sword is by right of birth king of England’” (Lang, pg. 21). These thirteen words define in every way how Arthur gained his early recognition. People from far and wide pulled with all their might, with hopes of drawing that sword out of the stone. However, not even the most noble and prestigious knights could do so. The only person to do so was young Arthur, who pulled the sword out so his foster-brother Sir Kay could participate in the tourney that day. After proving himself, he obtained the titl...

Although King Arthur is one of the most well-known figures in the world, his true identity remains a mystery. Attempts to identify the historical Arthur have been unsuccessful, since he is largely a product of fiction. Most historians, though, agree that the real Arthur was probably a battle leader of the Britons against the Anglo-Saxons in the sixthth century. In literature, King Arthur's character is unique and ever changing, taking on a different face in every work. There is never a clearly definitive picture that identifies Arthur's character. It is therefore necessary to look at a few different sources to get better insight into the character of Arthur, the once and future king.
The main topic of the first article deals with the intersectionality between sports, class, racism, education, money and housing in St. Louis. This author talks about the success of the St. Louis Rams in the 1990’s and the low and middle class children of St. Louis are victims of segregation subsidies and racism among the housing market and education.
Arthur was called Wart when he was a child, whom people considered as a nickname, but his actual name was Arthur. Arthur was always discriminated by his brother Kay, who belittled Arthur all the time. Even sometimes when Arthur achieved something Kay was always being jealous about it, and he did not acknowledge in order humiliating to him. Arthur also had never thought about that he would be a knight because he knew nothing about his lineage, and only thing that he knew about his life was that he was not the real son of Sir Ector. And he convinced himself that he could not be a real knight for his entire life. Even though Arthur was being suspicious of his knighthood, but he influenced man called Merlyn, who always encouraged Arthur that he will be deserved to be a knight. Likewise, Kay was another role model for Arthur to be a knight because Arthur learned a lot of things from Kay as well.
