Based on the article written by Siva Rani in The Star, 30th July 2017, “The Foodie Paradise We Live In is Killing Us”. We found that the population people getting obesity in Malaysia increase gradually as we know that Malaysian is a famous with the variety of food as we get a title as a “country of food paradise”. For us, the obese people getting addicted into food without thinking the impact of the large portion of food taken in their life. The people nowadays favorable eat more than their body’s needs. To be more specific, the obese people tend to eat in higher quantity of food without doing exercise to balance the bad habit in their life.
We agree that the people addicted to the food without thinking their body weight issue has reach overweight in their BMI (Body Mass Index). Food is essential to human survival and important aspect in our wellness.

Not only Australians but also the world’s problem obesity is studied as one of the main causes of chronic diseases such as coronary heart disease, Type 2 diabetes, and some cancers and sleep apnoea as well as other serious conditions, which put national economies and individual lives at risk. Obesity is also regarded as epidemic. Obesity is caused by a calorific imbalance between diet intake and consumed calories. Obesity has become the biggest threat to Public Health in Australia shown by Australia Bureau of Statistics (2013). Also, the prevalence of obesity is predicted as the ratio of obesity in adults and children will be doubled by 2025 (Backholer et al.2012). It is believed that this phenomenon is happening due to many social determinants of health, which have a strong negative impact on not only individuals but also society and economy. (Wilkinson and Marmot 2003) The social determinants of health are explained as conditions in which people are born, grow, live, work and age by WHO (Wilkinson & Marmot 2013). Different circumstances can be formed depending on their finance, power and global resources. These social determinants seem to be responsible for health inequities, which seem to be unfair and avoidable. Social determinants of health including social gradient, high calorie food intake, excessive amounts of stress and poor early life care are the relevant factors to contribute to be or being obesity. It is important to understand that the correlation of social determinants of health and obesity to manage the health problems and enhance public’s health.
In our fast pace society, we base everything on time and money. This need to save money and time has transformed the way we see food and purchase food. Food is an essential part of all cultures. It plays a role in every person’s life. The population has the power to choose what we eat and how the food industry is shaped. Not only have that calorie’s people intake from these restaurants even been miss looked. While people may think they can overcome the urge, fast food chains exclusively use addictive’s in their products to hook people from day one of use. Healthy lifestyles among society have been misled by the very fast food chains, which state their “healthy”. With that said, emotional issues even come to play when involving a human’s appetite to fast food. Even beverages sold at these fast food chains exceed the normal limit of sugar a healthy being should consume. Even America’s view point on serving sizes of meals served at these fast food chains goes way beyond a healthy lifestyle that everyone wants.

In a sense, we are all addicted to food. Think about what it feels like when you aren’t able to eat. You start to crave food, and become more physically and emotionally uncomfortable the longer the cravings go on for. At that point eating becomes the most important thing for you to do. This is the constant experience of people struggling with food addiction. An abundance of food changes nothing to an overeater’s appetite. Food is essential to survival, and unlike other addictive behaviors, it is normal to eat repeatedly every day, and even to look forward to eating for pleasure. Several characteristics separate normal eating from a food addiction or binge eating. When an addict’s binge begins they will experience a feeling of pleasure and the food may seem intensely tasty, but soon after they will have a feeling of disgust, shame and even physical pain. Many times they will take a bite of food, chomp down a couple of times and swallow without appropriately chewing it. Leaving food on the plate is very difficult. Left overs haunt them during sleep. They find themselves having to get up out of bed to eat. The addiction can become so intense the overeater will steal from friends, stores and even eat discarded food.
