In the 2015 Australian action film Mad Max: Fury Road, directed by George Miller, the film is set in a dystopian world where all civilization has failed which led to it becoming a wasteland, Max Rockatansky, Imperator Furiosa along with five wives and a war boy called Nux get chased by the evil Immortan Joe and his army as they try to escape from his captivity. Since Mad Max is an action film, it consists of so many different elements that made the movie so appealing to watch. The film segment that will be analyzed in this essay is the first chase scene where Max is tied up on Nux’s vehicle.
The film escalates quite quickly as the first car chase scene has a lot going on in terms of mise-en-scene. The setting of the desert clearly depicts a desolate atmosphere after civilization has fallen on earth, all there is shown in the segment is merely dust and sand. Some props used in this segment for instance, are costumes, vehicles, and weapons. They all make up the War Boys' chaotic and barbaric nature. Their black and white face painting makes them look creepy and dangerous, their half-naked bodies without any armour to protect themselves show that they are wild, the “Valhalla spray” they put on their mouths before they die during the battle, shows that they are always willing to die for the sake of …show more content…

As it is cutting to different camera angles and shots, it introduces different characters and their role in the process, Max being the “blood bag", Immortan Joe being the indestructible leader, and the War Boys being the relentless soldiers in the wasteland.
