Five Essential Truths The poet Richard Rohr wrote a five line poem about what he called “five essential truths”. The poem’s ideas are what he considers true. It is about life and ideas about the way we should live it. Actually, I agree with him and I will explain the reasons. “Life is hard”. At the very beginning of our lives, we were inside our mothers, but after a short period of time, we get out of them, and I consider that is a difficult moment in anyone’s life. Life outside of the womb is quite different. Indeed, there is a new world, which there is not just one human being. It is you and many others. From that moment on, life is constantly changing, and each change represents unknown new ideas and experiences. Therefore, life is a …show more content…
This fourth essential truth could have two possible meanings, I reflect. I might regard, first that we are not in control of ourselves all the time and secondly, that nobody or nothing controls us either. Moreover, I agree with him if this line is related to what I just wrote. In life, there are some situations that could make us examine that we lose what we call “control” under those sudden situations. A tiny complication could make us react strange even without analyzing it. Besides, if he is referring to nobody controls us, it is also true because a person could presume “I control the world”, or “a country” but the thoughts, feelings or ideas are not under nobody’s control just under God’s control. Additionally, “You are going to die” is the last truth. People should know we all will die once. It is not fundamental to go deep into this truth, since that is something we all have for sure. A truth that is awesome is the fact that we do not realize we are not alive forever and it causes problems because people cultivate not so good feelings and tend to hurt others. We will pass away once, so we always should remember it. If we accomplish that, we will enjoy more each day as if it would be the last one in our life. Thus, we will do well to others. Richard Rohr wrote five essential truths that if we take some minutes to analyze them, we will notice their reality with us. We are just one person with much valuble stuff to offer and just with one life to live along with others. Each day is just a miracle and we should take advantage of
“The way [one] expresses both the agony of life and the possibility of conquering it through is the sheer toughness of the spirit. They fall short of
The speaker introduces the idea of the natural cycle of life, where something becomes born and eventually dies. This reflects back to the Native culture where the cycle of life was much celebrated. The idea of "death and birth" symbolizes the speaker 's love that was once born to die in the end. It also symbolizes the pleasure and pain that comes with falling in love. She was born again with the new knowledge and pleasure the love had to offer. However, it is an undeniable fact that the same love that gave her so much joy at one point, gave her just as much pain. A part of her past- self had to die in order for the speaker to be reborn.
Both awe-inspiring and indescribable is life, the defined “state of being” that historians and scholars alike have been trying to put into words ever since written language was first created. And in the words of one such intellectual, Joshua J. Marine, “Challenges are what make life interesting; overcoming them is what makes life meaningful”. Essentially, he is comparing life to a bowl of soup. Without challenges or hardship into which we can put forth effort and show our potential, it becomes a dull and flavorless broth. But for characters in novels like Nathaniel Hawthorne’s The Scarlet Letter, and Zora Neale Hurston’s Their Eyes Were Watching God, the difficulties and trials that we all must face can transfigure the mundane liquid mixture of existence into a vibrant and fulfilling gumbo. The protagonists of these works are two strong-willed and highly admirable women, who prevail in the face of overwhelming odds stacked in everyone’s favor but theirs. In their trying periods of isolation brought about by cold and unwelcoming peers, particularly men, they give their lives meaning by simply pushing forward, and living to tell the tale.
Susan Wolf, born in 1952, is widely considered one of the greatest philosophers of the 20th and 21st century. One of Wolf’s most renowned works is The meanings of Lives, which drew a lot of attention in the philosophical world for a number of questions that arose from it. Arguably her most widely debated and questioned assertion in The meanings of Lives is “If you care about yourself you’re living as if you’re the center of the universe, which is false.” This however I don’t not believe to be true. Every human being, no matter how successful or unsuccessful, has the right to care for them sleeves and not believe they are the center of the universe while doing so.
Self-preservation, natures first great law,All the creatures, but man, doth awe.-Andrew MarvelleLove, family, and small thrills are but three things to live for. Sometimes they are the only things to live for. Sometimes they are what drive us to survive. For some of the inmates at Angola State Prison, there is little to live for and they still survive.
In conclusion, humankind is blessed with life as God created it. One must reflect on their actions throughout life because one will be judged by God in the next life, one must see the importance of gasping liberation, and one must have a loving and open heart when helping the poor. Life should be lived to its fullest because once time is lost, it cannot be regained; life needs to be appreciated.
We each ought to regard this one life which is very importance to us, since we each have just one life.

The first noble truth is that life contains unavoidable suffering or dukkha. This truth came into fruition when the Buddha left his palace, and he saw an old man, a diseased or sick man, and a decaying corpse. From then on he realized that all of our lives include struggle, anguish,
...ers of life are what make it so unique for each person. In this way, one could say that this is a part of one’s spirituality and one’s ongoing search for the meaning in life.
Ralph Waldo Emerson, nineteenth century poet and writer, expresses a philosophy of life, based on our inner self and the presence of the soul. Emerson regarded and learned from the great minds of the past, he says repeatedly that each person should live according to his own thinking. I will try to explain Emerson’s philosophy, according to what I think he is the central theme in all his works.
Now, I can truly say that life today has a value for me only because of this; it does not matter what force has to be put in motion, what results can be obtained. The development of all the germs that are present in the individual conformation of human life, this is what I consider the true goal of man on earth, not precisely happiness. (1)

I can look forward to it and manage my expectations but happens when something gets in the way? I will never have the answer to “What is the meaning of life?”—but I will have the ability to try. There is a reason why I’m always soul searching to become a better me. It’s because the best me hasn’t happened yet. I will never be the best version of myself but I am always a work in progress trying to reach the ultimate goal. Life isn’t about being successful and leaving your “mark on the world.” Maybe life is about leaving a shadow so one can follow in. Maybe that’s why we’re all here—to try and make it easier for the people to come. My fulfilling life hasn’t been fulfilled yet—the best is yet to
