According to Pierre de Vos Gold medal favourite, Caster Semenya is in hot pursuit to claim the 800m track and field at the 2016 Rio Olympics games. As usual, there are many who do not share this hope, many critics are suggesting otherwise, saying that she should not be allowed to compete due to her high testosterone which supposedly gives her an “unfair advantage” over her opponent. Even though many of these claims seem to hold no truth critics still remain sceptical whether if Caster is truly a woman or do we simply have to ask are we just so badly indoctrinated by societal myths ?
