Black Beauty, written in 1877, by Anna Sewell is a progressive text that demonstrates her multidimensionality as a writer. Sewell explores several relevant themes and social changes regarding Victorian England. Sewell’s unconventional writing style, narrated by Black Beauty himself provides the reader with a unique illustration of Victorian society from an outsider’s perspective although he and other horses interact with human lives throughout the novel. Sewell’s ability to incorporate two over-arching ideas of Victorian society, specifically regarding the legislative changes for animal rights, and commenting on the role of women demonstrates her creativity and skill as a writer. In chapter 111, “My Breaking In,” utilizes the house, Duchess,
Once I graduate, I plan to become employed in an established salon to build my client list and experience. A lot of my style inspiration comes from vintage styles, 90’s punk styles, and vibrant colors. I hope one day to move west, continuing to learn and accomplish my goals.

and gender. It is apparent that from these two ads, Covergirl changed their advertising strategy to adapt to this change in fashion and beauty. “Over time the way woman apply their make up on has changed”. In the 1960’s woman wore little to no makeup with the main thing being lipstick or blush, but in 2018 you have woman that wear eyeliner, fancy eyeshadow and do a lot of “contour”, it completely changes the way woman view themselves.

Take the consummate ideals of beauty and clash it against the paradoxes of the human condition and you get Zadie Smith’s fresh and original “On Beauty”. “On Beauty” follows Smith’s critically acclaimed “White Teeth” novel in her writing style that is smart, observant and humorously ingrained with current politics. The novel centers around the rivalry between the liberal sharp-tongued Belsey family and the conservative close-knit Kipps family. Both patriarchs, Howard Belsey and Monty Kipps, are erudite art professors with polar opposite politics whose academic and personal tug-a-war is set in the prestigious fictional Wellington University in Boston. “On Beauty” serves as Smith’s thesis on beauty which deconstructs its ideals such as art, love
In 1970, a billion dollar company that revolutionized the beauty industry came to life and opened its doors to people across thirty countries. This French cosmetic retailer continues to dominate the beauty industry by capitalizing on areas such as “color (makeup), skincare, and fragrance” while being applauded for their exceptional customer service that strives to make clients feel beautiful. However, this glamourous image is the product of hard-working employees at store level who suffer from inconsistent employee recognition. Although clients receive outstanding service that makes them feel euphoric, the employees who generate customer satisfaction are not appreciated enough for their efforts. Essentially, the organizational culture of this company focuses immensely on being “client driven” to increase sales while not enough emphasis is placed on “appreciating employees” for fostering these sales. Throughout shifts, managers focus on communicating the importance of helping clients while no attention is given to communicating the tremendous

When a person thinks of the word “art,” the first thing that comes to their mind is most often visual art, such as paintings, sketches, sculptures, and drawings, but there are many other kinds of art that can be found in the world. Art can be music, literature, photography, graphic design, fashion, theatre, film, architecture, graffiti, or even cooking and baking. As seen by the examples, there is a large number of activities that can be considered art. As long as something involves the personal expression of creativity and it can somehow be observed and/or consumed by others, it can generally be considered art. There is one form of art that has been left off the list: makeup. Despite its booming popularity in the twenty-first century, most
I am a Senior in High School at Midlothian, Virginia, a Suburb of Richmond. I lived the first seven years of my life in Arizona, where all of my grandparents and cousins live. When I was seven my dad got a new job and moved my family and I moved out here to Virginia where we did not know anyone. It was a hard transition for me at first moving between three different elementary schools in three years, but it all ended up working out great for me. After moving here and going to school for a year I was sent to a gifted school. It was the best possible thing that could have happened to me at that time. I had never had to work for my grades before, but when I started the new school in third grade I got my first bad grade and ever since then I have always tried my hardest on everything. That third grade teacher was a tough love type of teacher she was a stickler to the rules and always made sure that everyone was living up to their full potential.
