The list id so long and complicated that one can never solve it in a way that everyone can be happy. Because of that, most of the ethical issues in the business world are solved in a manners that both affected parties can have win-win situation. In this paper, we will be discussing a case in which we will focus on how conducting a personal business at work while using corporate asses for personal use affects the moral behavior in any organization. It also show, how influence can affect one’s judgment. In this case, there are many negative consequences which are brought up by one employee’s behavior. First, looking at the long term consequences, the other employees will follow the example of this girl. They will also try to away with other rules and regulation, too. Also the standard for the company’s ethical behavior will get low. It will also affect the organizational culture. Breaking the rules and the regulations might not be the problem for just one team or one section but also for the whole company. Since this company works with two different organizations, it will affect the relationship between them, too. If the standard of moral decrease, the company will have to face some serious reputation. One of the two affiliate organization is government, so they can start using the law if the services this company provides does not have high quality level. First, getting job through connection, then getting away with braking rules with, and making sure that the team leader will not bother again about that is an impressive in its own. The courage one need to pull something like that in their first job is very impressive from any normal person’s perspective. However, is it the right thing to do? Is it right thing to even let that happen? That is the main issue here. If one is taking the job and title, they should accepts the responsibilities that come with it. In conclusion, I think that the company is at the big fault here. The company let the things go very easily when the regulations were broken. Even if one gets the job through personal connection, it should have kept hidden since it can bring the moral down for other people who work hard to get the job. In addition, using the personal connection to get way with breaking rules is unethical thing to do as a human being, and that should be understandable by even a regular citizen. From my point view, if you are going to work in the industry, you should work hard to achieve the goal that you have decided on no matter what. By doing so one can get the pleasure of the hard work when they achieve
However, it may not be the best solution to be used first when dealing with unethical corporate practices. From more of a Utilitarian approach one should seek to do the greatest good. An approach that gives the company a chance to change its unethical behavior internally would follow this idea. Having the ability to change practices internally before outside intervention can have many positive effects. The company is able to make the changes, reestablish its integrity, maintain business, and retain employees. The whistleblowing option brings in outside forces that could lead to repercussions for the company which may include restitution or even being closed down. If the business is closed it effects more than just the corporate entity, all of the employees are also negatively impacted by this as well when they would lose their jobs. Sometimes however, when the company is unwilling to change its practices and do business in a more ethical manner people are left with little choice but to report to outside sources what is occurring within the business. Many see whistleblowing as law-breaking when employees are contractually obligated to
Throughout your life, you’ll face tough decisions where you'll have to decide possibly against your ethical beliefs. Ethics don’t necessarily always have to involve law abiding. It’s rather about trusting your moral path and doing the right thing. Dori Meinert is the author of “Creating an Ethical Workplace” she explains the thought behind the never black or white decision making when it comes to businesses. Can businesses truly trust those individuals hired to steer their companies? It was mentioned that last year 41 percent of U.S. workers said they observed unethical or illegal misconduct on the job, according to the Ethics Resource Center's 2013 National Business Ethics Survey. Meinert’s article was not only eye-opening but very truthful since we’ve all been faced or witnessed unethical decision making. Once employees see individuals breaking the rules and regulations others will then think it's okay, which could result in employees leaving or major hoops for companies to jump through. When we tolerate misconduct we lower productivity and diminish the reputation of a company. Meinert mentioned that if
Abortion has been a political, social, and personal topic for many years now. The woman’s right to choose has become a law that is still debated, argued and fought over, even though it has been passed. This paper will examine a specific example where abortion is encouraged, identify the Christian world views beliefs and resolution as well as the consequences of such, and compare them with another option.
Within a company, illegal practices can be seen by many as the “in thing” and the people working within that environment may not see what they are doing as morally wrong. The issue of the lack of media coverage of these types of crimes must also not be overlooked.
Loyalty to your profession and professional standards is the most important for a business professional to maintain in their career no matter what when it comes to ethical issues that may occur in the workplace. You obviously want to care for the company you work for and ensure its great success, but when that company influences an individual to engage in unethical activity in order to profit or remain in business, then an individual’s duty to their employer diminishes when it conflicts with their personal morals. As stated in an article by the Josephson Institute, an organization that strives to create an ethical society, “In today’s ultra competitive, high tech, interdependent
When working within any professional body, an individual will be subjected to circumstances in which personal ethics will come into play. The Accounting profession is no different as ethical questions arise as part of any working day and can effect how an individual or the company conducts business. These questions can vary greatly in practice from selection of new customers to the rates at which those clients are going to be charged. These ethical questions are raised regularly within the workplace and each employee will react to them differently. The varying reactions will depend on the morality of each individual, or each employees own ‘ethics’. As each employee has their own set of values companies must be alert to the fact that some of their employees may have more ‘flexible’ morals than others. This ‘flexible’ morality can lead to corruption and manipulation within the workplace and can give companies serious problems. As a result of this, all of the main professional accounting bodies have begun to re-introduce mandatory courses teaching ethics to their employees. As well as this, ‘A Guide to professional ethics’ was published which contains a number of different principles in order to govern the behaviour of accountants and also to identify and reduce the greatest areas of risk with respect to unethical behaviour.
The employee should usually seek less harmful ways to resolve the issue first. Employees should usually alert management and executives of wrongdoing before making the wrongdoing known to the public. Management or executives should usually be given a chance to rectify

In the story, Bowen was a participant in a sabbatical program for Morgan Stanley, where he spent sixty days climbing the icy and dangerous Himalayas in Nepal. He set out for this journey with his friend Stephen, who was an Anthropologist, their porters and some Sherpas. During their hike, Bowen & Stephen encountered a New Zealander who had with him a barefoot, barely clothed, Indian man who happened to be a Sadhu, who at the moment was exhausted and hypothermic. The New Zealander was on a mission to complete his goal, and carrying the Sadhu with him made it almost impossible to trek any further. Stephen and Bowen tried their best to help the Sadhu by helping him stay warm. Surely enough, the Sadhu recovered, but he was still unable to walk. Soon Bowen also realized that the Sadhu was getting in the way of his trip to the summit. So, Bowen decided to leave the Sadhu with Stephen. Following Bowen’s departure, some men from Switzerland and Japan also helped the Sadhu during their trip. It is important to note that all the different cultures of climbers: the Sherpas, the Swiss, the New Zealanders, and the Japanese were able to provide the Sadhu with some sort of assistance that was vital to his survival. However, in the end, the Sadhu was left behind with some clothes, food and drinks to trek two days to the nearest village. Ultimately, all the climbing parties were determined enough to accomplish their goal to reach the summit. Unfortunately, no one knew whether the Sadhu was still alive or not. Even thought it is apparent that everybody contributed in reviving the Sadhu, nobody took complete responsibility for the Sadhu’s life. Seemingly, in the end, Stephen and Bowen assumed that the Sadhu might have not survived the hike to the n...

Everyone in this world has experienced an ethical dilemma in different situations and this may arise between one or more individuals. Ethical dilemma is a situation where people have to make complex decisions and are influenced based on personal interest, social environment or norms, and religious beliefs (“Strategic Leadership”, n.d.). Before any disciplinary action can be implemented, a manager must first give advanced warning. Employees must be informed clearly that certain actions will result in disciplinary actions. This is a very important step. It is not the employee's fault if he is not informed of the company's rules, ethics and standards. It is management's responsibility to educate and inform all employees. It is easier to accept discipline if the rules and standards are clearly stated befo...
This issue would be disastrous if the media is involved in the investigation of the Company because news would be spread, consumers would then lose confidence in the Company and hence there would be loss of loyal regulars and profit. The careers of the Company directors and employees may also be drastically affected if they are being investigated on suspicion of involvement in corporate misconduct because it would be as if their privacies are being robbed and transparent to the
