Rape is defined as the unlawful compelling of a person through physical force or duress to have sexual intercourse. This act knows no bounds. It is not color restricted and can touch a woman of any age. Now, this kind of issue does happen to adult women, but does not happen as often as it does in younger women. Statistically speaking someone is being raped every two minutes, which means that women and adolescents are left being traumatized. Men are not free from this horror. Most rapes of men occur in adolescent years as opposed to adulthood, but it does happen. However most men do not come forward and admit any thing which makes it hard to put together statistics on the male gender. So for the remainder of this paper my information will be about how rape victims such as women.
Rape has to two major types which most people are not aware of. The first is stranger rape; this form of rape is when an individual doesn’t know the person they are assaulting. They may have met in passing or the victim could have been stalked which make the assailant a stranger to the victim. The most common of all rapes is acquaintance rape. This is when the victim knows the individual. Statistics show that eighty percent of all rapes occur in this form. The predators are more often a family member or very close relative and has assaulted the woman or young lady because of convenience. The closeness of the relationship causes the victim to feel alone, isolated, and as if they are to blame.
In many instances, emergency rape counseling is offered by first-response teams: police, ER attendants, doctors, nurses, rape-crisis call respondents. These counselors are trained to help a victim cope with the immediate pain and shock. A long-arc counselor is trained...

... notions at the door and become a neutral party that is just in the room as sounding boards for the counselees who need help. Crisis arise everyday any in a vast amount of ways. Who is to say what crisis is of great merit and which is of no consequence. I as a counselor in training strive to not only up hold my promise to God to follow him, but to also look out for my fellow man. To help in any capacity necessary to move them forward and to be the rock or voice of reason they may need.
