In a previous issue, we covered the Trans-Siberian Railway. In this article, we will be going on a journey aboard the Bernina Express, beginning our journey from Chur in Switzerland, traveling through wild Canton of Graubünden to Mediterranean Tirano in Italy. The Bernina Express is a direct train between Chur to Tirano that crosses the Canton of Graubünden from north to south. The classic route is a four hour journey through rugged Alpine mountains, green valleys and an amazing number of spiral loops, tunnels and bridges. In summer there are more options: there is a Bernina Express from Davos and St. Moritz. All trains cross the Bernina Pass and ultimately end in Tirano. There is also a connecting Bernina Express Bus in the summer from Tirano to …show more content…

After unloading your luggage consider going down to the Peddler. The Peddler might be able to satisfy your wants and desires. The Peddler carries everything for fresh fish, to mouthwatering chicken and even marinated steaks. The Peddler is a classy restaurant so dress accordingly. Expect the cost for the meal to be a bit on the "pricey" side. The Peddler is located on the corner where River Road intersects with Ski Mountain Road.
In order to detail the rise of railroads throughout this era of technological boom, it is important to understand the Industrial Revolution, which was the start of this success; it paved the way for major changes in the modern society we live in today. This is the period between the 18th and 19th centuries when major changes in agriculture, manufacturing, mining, transportatio...

In truth, the river is the border between the gothic space, the Other, and normal space in the novella. For example, in the beginning of the story, when Danillo and Katherine were travelling home on the Dnieper, they witnessed a rising on the side of the Other. “A withered corpse rose slowly from it [one of the graves in a graveyard]. one could see he was suffering terrible agonies” as he begged for air (Gogol 18). Things that should not happen, that should not be possible, happen on the other side of the Dneiper because that is the gothic space.
Unlike in the United States, train travel is a German way of life. You can get on at train at any bahnhof (train station) and travel to any destination in Europe you would like. The Germans use the train as their main mean of travel due to pollution and the inflated gas prices. Americans tend to use the automobile as our main mean of travel more than we should.

Glaciers, an integral feature of any mountainous landscape, were the focus of interest, curiosity and admiration for many travelers in the Romantic period, especially those in the Swiss region of Chamounix. During the 18th and 19th century, four of the voyagers who wrote excerpts on the glaciers were Coxe, Bourrit, Ramond and Shelley; these travelers made similar comparisons to each other regarding the nature of glaciers and the emotions evoked upon their viewing.
“You are to look upon this grim opening as travelers on foot confront a steep, rugged mountain: beyond it lies a most enchanting plain which they appreciate all the more for having toiled up and down the mountain first,” (Boccaccio, pg. 7).

It is situated at an altitude of 2,034m, being the highest mountain resort of Romania. The cliffs are covered with snow from November till late July, sometimes still persisting till the new one arrives. First, you have to reach Balea Waterfall, and only afterwards try to get to the lake. Late spring is the best time to come- you take the main road and you’re disappointed cause you see no sign of snow and you think you have come such a long way for nothing. But you keep driving, hoping to find that wonderful place where you can ski or snowboard in T-shirt only, without worrying you’ll catch another cold and hoping to meet some of the friends you haven’t seen for the past month or more. The road makes a big turn and suddenly you see what you’ve been waiting for: the big mountains are still covered with snow. So everyone is happy and anxious to finally arrive up there. The area is fantastic for the best skiers and boarders and it offers excellent routes for freeride.
