One of the themes that was not actually in Statecraft simulation, but it should have been created. International Organizations should have been placed in the simulation in order to have some diplomacy enforcement virtually or horizontally. Here are some examples of how the absence of International Organization impacted on our act in Statecraft simulation world. If there were an International Organization such as United Nations, some countries would behave differently and respectfully to one another. The United Nations would put sanctions and punishments to a country like the Empire of Naponiello because they created violence and established wars against some weak states. The United Nations would use the International Court of Justice to prevent the Empire from attacking countries for no reason. Another example of an International Organization is Amnesty International. This organization is responsible for Human Rights that conducts research and generate action to stop and end grave abuses of humen rights and to demand justice for those whose rights have been violated. We discussed in class how International Organizations have a huge impact on the world. We said in class International Organizations were created to achieve objectives that states cannot achieve on their own. We also talked about what were the main reasons of creating International Organizations. Security and poverty have been the main reasons. Moreover States help to establish International Organizations in order to have a platform to interact with one another, to develop norms, and to cooperate to solve problems. Next in 1899, 1907, 1954 the International Peace Convention (originally The Hague Convention) where held because, in the last wars multiple cultural, art, literature and artifacts pieces were destroyed. The Statecraft simulation is a helpful tool for understanding the different aspects of international politics. In the simulation, students are able to experience diplomacy through trial and error in political positions within their designated countries. In addition, the simulation was created by Dr. Keller to resemble reality. As a result, each country has different advantages and disadvantages with regards to recourses, location, country attributes and government type. Furthermore, through this recourse, students have the chance to gain valuable learning experiences in a manner, not harmful to society.
How CAPSIM Works: The business simulation is relatively unaffected by external factors such as politics. The only time CAPSIM required additional decision-making was in regards to the ethical dilemma of offshore cost-cutting. Not once did CAPSIM require the teams to make additional decisions in regards to changing labour, tax, regulatory and other legislations.
The text begins by examining a series of wargames developed for the military and the federal government to determine the best options for growing problems around the world (Mark Herman). Additionally, the ground work is placed to outline the goals which are expected by the client. The developers of the simulation begin by finding, with the greatest precision possible, what goals the client plays to achieve (Mark Herman). Moreover, the developers ask a number of questions, to include, is the client needing confirmation of an existing strategy, are they looking for potential weaknesses in their operation, are they looking to develop a new product, and the client needs validation to move forward with the introduction (Mark Herman). If during the test a fundamental weakness or an unforeseen problem arises the methodology is reworked and the test can be run again, all this is done long before any substantial money has been lost. Furthermore, if these tests are conducted by the military, a strategy for either a war time crisis or a civil catastrophe can be formulated long before human live is placed in harm’s way.
The United Nations was formed on October 24, 1945, after the Holocaust, to prevent genocide from ever happening again. In the beginning, it seemed like we were doing well compared to the other countries, but Panem soon caught up to us and surpassed us. The United Nations charter prescribes conditions to be met by states when it comes to military interventions. As stated in the United Nations Charter, article 2(4) outlines the general prohibitions on the use of force. The International Criminal Court (ICC) is a court of last resort; it is an intergovernmental organization aimed at bringing to justice individuals charged with crimes of international concern such as war crimes, crimes against humanity, and genocide. It is a relatively new organization established in 2002. The ICC prosecutes criminals who have not been tried by their own national judiciary system or feel have been unrightfully protected by their national government removing an individual from criminal responsibility. The ICC is not a mandatory organization all countries must be a part of, it is only valid in countries that have decided to ratify the treaty of the Rome Statute. The international system is an anarchical system which means that, unlike the states, there is no over ruling, governing body that enforces laws and regulations that all states must abide by. The International System in today’s society has become highly influential from a number of significant factors.
