Media For media we decided to choose national network television advertisements as our main media channel with a smaller focus going towards using their social media presence to produce more sales. We chose to go with television as main channel for advertising because of Lululemon's lack of presence in that medium, by choosing television they will be able to go up against other athletic heavyweights like Under Armor and Nike. By choosing national television networks to advertise, Lululemon would be able to reach a larger audience and create a stronger image for the brand by grabbing the consumers attention with a strong commercial. We also decided that Lululemon, who already has a strong presence on social media, could use this to push more sales with advertisements mixed in with their general posts.

An American Apparel ad is laid out with half of the page showing a colorful image of a man and a woman, but is only shown from the waist down. The woman is atop of the man, with her hands on the man’s stomach. She is only wearing underwear, and the male is appearing to be wearing boxer shorts. The bottom half of the page is white. In big bold text in the upper right hand corner of the second half, it says ‘Playtime’. In the lower right hand corner, it lists all the locations of the American Apparel stores. This is an ad for American Apparel, a clothing company. But there is a problem; these models are wearing little to no clothing whatsoever. If a store wishes to sell clothing, putting a picture of half naked people surely is
middle of paper ... ... The 'Standard' of the 'Standard'. Top 10 Legal Issues in Social Media.
A great example of this is described in David Kerpen’s book Likeable Social Media in his introduction he describes a vacation to vegas where he had to wait in line an hours at the trendiest hotel in town, the Aria, in his frustration he tweeted “No Vegas hotel could be worth this long wait. Over an Hour to check in at the Aria #Fail”. Just two minutes later a competitor of Aria called Rio hotel tweeted back, “Sorry about the bad experience, Dave. Hope the rest of your stay in Vegas goes well” (Kerpen 1). The hotel used social media to listen and empathetically respond to their consumer like a friend which gained them a customer for life and possibly countless others if Kerpen decides to endorse and recommend Rio on social media. This idea of endorsing business through social media is revolutionary as well as quite exciting and daunting for companies. Before if you had rave reviews about a company you would share it with 10 or 15 friends but now with one click you can share your thoughts with with 350 Facebook Friends, 300 twitter followers, or 150 LinkedIn connections (Kerpen 8), with that power the consumer can have positive or negative impact on that company's
McCurry’s photos were not often dramatic in alteration, the outcry from the public clearly shows that trust was violated. McCurry went beyond simply touching up some photographs by creating significant alterations (2). Ethical lines are very clear around image alterations. While most bodies understand that there are occasions when slight alterations can be made, the editing, removal, or any alteration that harms the relationship between author and reader violates this code (9). Beyond simple ethical rules, we see that journalistic integrity is on trial today in America. Even with the freedom of the press enshrined in our Constitution, we see hostility toward media and journalists (7) where the main accusation lobbied at them is the willful promotion of bias and dishonesty from the media who are supposed to be trustworthy distributors of the truth. As photographers and journalist who are bearers of the public trust, it is critical that that trust be maintained or their work becomes subjective and open to interpretation. Often times, powerful people use any breach of that trust toward their own ends which only works if the public believes the ethics of journalist are in doubt. To summarize, while I believe that Mr. McCurry’s alterations of photographs are indeed trivial, I think the impact of public perception of his work by nature means that his actions were
