The government in Finland is similar to the US. Finland laws say “ legal firearms must be registered and licensed on a per-gun basis.” Just like other countries, you can’t sell alcohol to a persons under 18. Just like any other country you stop at a red light, go at green, use turn signals, go the speed limit, and yield when a sign says. On the other side, you have the USA. In the constitution the second amendment states “ A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed.” You can’t consume or purchase alcohol unless 21 years of age, and one can enters bars at 18 years of age. Just like Finland you have to stop at red lights, go at green, use your turn signal, go the speed limit, and yield when sign says. …show more content…
Finland has freedom of speech, Freedom of religion, Freedom of association, and Freedom of assembly as upheld in law and practice. On the other side, we have the USA. They have the Freedom of Speech, Freedom of Religion, Freedom of the Press, Freedom to hold Assembly. Even though that they have similar freedoms they don’t always have the same constitution. They don’t always have the same number of amendments. An amendment is a change that can be made to a document. Even the US constitution can be changed.
Finland and the US have very powerful militaries. Finland’s military is ranked 55 out of 126, while the United States military is ranked 1 out of 126. Finland’s manpower is 5,467,922 and on the other side the US manpower is 321,368,864. Finland has 90 SPGs, 250 tanks, 1,370 AFVs, 58 MLRs. Finland also has 0 attack helicopters, 27 helicopters, and 54 fighters. The US has 1,934 SPGs, 8,848 tanks, 41,062 AFVs, 1,331 MLRs. The US also has 957 attack helicopters, 6,084 helicopters, and 2,308 fighters. Even though Finland isn’t ranked #1, they still have a good
The Punic Wars left an impact on Western Civilization because it was a turning point for Rome. Rome used to be a tiny city-state that had no potential to become an imperial power, by the time the Punic Wars are won, Romans would have dominance over the Mediterranean power. Rome’s survival was challenged over and over again, but Rome thrived on their victories. But one by one, city-states joined Rome. This was allowing them to gain more power. Carthage was fearful of Rome and it escalated into a conflict, which led to the Punic Wars. (Frankforter & Spellman, 141) The Punic Wars are made up of three different wars. The Carthaginians lost all three wars. The cost of the first war was that the Carthaginians lost Sicily and they had to pay reparations. The cost of the
The Japanese had more training and combat experience. Their leaders had better education and tactical knowledge. The fighter pilots of Japan were veterans. The Japanese doctrine to fuel under hangers on the deck caused issues. Fueling under the hanger caused delay in action for Japanese fighter. The US weren’t as experienced in air combat. The Sailors and fighter pilots on USS Hornet were the least experienced in
For decades, certain people have been contemplating on how to go about the issue of underage drinking; people of the government, parents, and other individuals concerned in global affairs. The problem is, the issue of underage drinking and the nationwide ineffectiveness of the drinking age law of twenty-one isn't debated and discussed as much and as aggressively as it should be. And the main components of discussion ought to be the matter of binge drinking among teenagers and college students, drinking issues and statistics in foreign countries, and finally, possible solutions for this problem. The main point is that the states of our country can only attempt to enforce the law rather than try approaching the problem in any other way. So for that reason, states should be allowed to figure out and experiment on possible ways to solve this matter on their own without government interference.
One such difference is the third article of Declaration of the Rights of Man and Citizen and the ninth and tenth amendments of the Bill of Rights conflict in that the tenth amendment maintains that powers not given to the United States will be reserved for each individual states or person and are not limited to the rights listed within the Bill of Rights. In contrast the third article of the Declaration of the Rights of Man and Citizen states that rights not specifically stated are resides in the nation and that’s no group or person is permitted to exercise authority is not directly provided for by the law . Thus giving unstated rights to the nation while the Bill of Rights leaves the decision of legality of such rights to both the state and the

The legal age to consume alcohol in our nation, The United States of America, is 21 years of age; although, it was previously allowed at the age of 18, when one is accepted in adulthood. The National Minimum Drinking Age of punished every state that allowed persons under 21 years of age to purchase and publicly possess alcoholic beverages
Drinking under the age of 21 should not be allowed because of the medical reasons behind it. “Brains can be severely damaged by alcohol, especially if the brain is not fully developed” (BigJohny). When you drink under the age of 21, you will get these long-term consequences from doing so. The long-term consequences that could come from drinking under the age of 21 are having brain malfunctions and becoming brain dead. Every time you drink you cause yourself to lose brain cells, without the brain being fully developed you will stop the growth of your brain cells while killing others. The brain is actually never fully developed until the age of 21. “Research indicated that the brain continues to develop until age 21, and young brains can be irreversibly damaged by alcohol” (BigJohny). When you are under the age of 21 and you decide to drink, the growing process of your brain could...
Recently, Finland is considered one of the best when it comes to education and how they have come to teach their children. Finland, is located in Northern Europe and main religion, is that of Evangelical Lutheran. In Finland their government is called a republic and their main language is Finnish. When it comes to how to act the Finnish people are very modest and will often downplay being praised, as they are modest people. When it comes to how one should behave the Finnish culture believes that you should always act in a proper and courteous manner as it is the most important to never to be disrespectful. They believe in talking in moderate tones and do nothing that would call attention, as this wa...
air combat losses were split almost evenly between aerial combat (46%) and air defenses (54%). By the Korean and Vietnam wars however, combat losses due to enemy air defenses had risen to approximately 90 %”( Bolkom, 2004). During the Vietnam War, the enemy air defense outshined that of the U.S. Army. Soviet Union forces helped in both equipment and workers. Surface to air missile sites, teaching air defense tactics and strategy to Vietnamese soldiers, and funding played a large factor in the capabilities they
In fact, the state and federal laws for consuming alcohol are different. “The federal law requires states to prohibit purchase and public possession of alcoholic beverages [for people under the age of 21]. Contrary to belief, it does not require prohibition of minors from drinking alcoholic beverages” (Minimum). This means that the severity of restrictions depend on what state you live in. For example, residents of Missouri have some of the most lax alcohol consumption laws in the country. It is one of six states that allow parents and guardians to provide alcohol to their children (Missouri). However, the lucky Kansans out there have it a little differently. Kansas’ law states that no one under the age of 21 can “possess, consume, obtain, purchase, or attempt to obtain or purchase alcoholic liquor” (Kansas).
Some laws even make it easier for teens to drink, like in some states if a parent purchases the alcohol it is fine for the teen to drink. That law is abused though since one parent will buy beer for a complete party and not just for their teen. There have been some cases where the cops have cracked down on this problem but not enough. Teens are not seeing underage drinking as something wrong whether it be because they think it will help them fit in or to cover up feelings of sadness or hatred. When a teen sees the "cool" kids drink they want to join in so that they ...
China is the most populous state in the world, with over 1.3 trillion inhabitants (Central Intelligence Agency 2010). Because of its large population base, China also has the largest military and a booming economy that is third only America and Japan in terms of GDP; however, economic trends show that Japan’s economy is stagnating, while the American Chinese economies continue to spike upward (Google, Inc. 2010). Despite its growing economy and large military force, China lags behind America in technology and naval power. Chinese Admiral Wu Shengli said, “The Navy will move faster in researching and building new-generation weapons to boost the ability to fight in regional sea wars under the circumstance of information technology” (Xuequan 2009). This quote shows that China wants to remain a regional sea power, and not develop a blue-water navy that can compete with the American navy. Furthermore, a Popular Mechanics article showed the world that China was stealing American military “leap ahead” technology, or technology that is decades ahead of Chinese technology (Cooper 2009).
Unsupervised, underage drinking has become an epidemic throughout the world, but in the Americas more than anywhere else. Even the president’s 19-year-old daughter has been arrested for underage drinking. America has the highest legal drinking age in the world. In fact, only four countries in the world have a legalized drinking age of 18. When we turn 18 in America we are supposed to be adults, but then what is the 21 age mark it is like we get an adult trial version for three years without some freedom but with all the consequences.
The Bill of Rights laid out the liberties and rights of its citizens. We are allowed to speak badly about our government. We are able to protest when we feel we have been wronged or we want something changed. We can bear firearms freely. We have the right against being detained without a speedy trial. We have the right not to self-incriminate ourselves. We have the to right to vote for our government leaders. Most or all of these rights we often take for granted. I would not know a life where I could not speak freely. I might not be able to write this article if there was not free speech. Many countries have a shortage of these liberties. They are forbidden to do certain things. They aren't given the basic liberties that we feel are second nature to us. They aren't allowed to follow their dreams or pursue the happiness that every one of us seeks throughout our lives. We reach for it, live for it, and even die for it. Television has illustrated that many countries are striving to procure that freedom.
As this has been an ongoing question at some point in just about every 18 years olds head if they should or should not have the right to consume alcoholic beverages. And the cliché answer usually is “ they should be able to drink at 18 because if the have the right to fight for their country they should have the right to drink alcohol”. Many
