1) In regards to technology, the Amazon Dash shows the world that technology has power and more power than we thought at this point. It is no secret that there are countless movies about technology being the very thing that rules the world and although this button in no way makes me fear that happening, it does make me realize that technology will continuously keep taking over things of our everyday lives. This button is already able to replenish household items, therefore, I believe it will not be long before it can replace anything in your home at the touch of a button. The first step generating leads, at this part of the production Amazon is only selling a handful of these products. By this they will be able to more accurately figure out the target market and coming up with ads to increase the numbers in the target market as well as trying to draw others in. The second step qualifying leads, Amazon will need to see exactly how much people would be willing to pay for this service and be willing to play around with prices to see if results change. With the cutting out of interaction in stores for the trial stages Amazon should continuously follow up with consumers that are the first to try out the product in order to get feedback on improvements that they can make towards the product. The third step, Approaching the Customer, Amazon should make sure that anyone in contact with the customers knows everything there is to know about the product itself, and also that they know exactly where the customer fits into the market. For example, do they live in a rural or urban area, elderly or a younger market. Knowing exactly where they fit into the market will be essential in knowing what to say and key in on when trying to sell the product, or when talking to customers that have already bought the product to be able to get good feedback of satisfaction and concerns. For the fourth step, for customers that have already bought the product they must make sure they are listening to the concerns and ensure the customer that they Amazon will do everything in their power to address it. For people that have not bought the product, listen to their reservations and address ways of how what they are worried about is, respectfully, not an issue. If meeting in person, give the customer documents on why the product is good for them, or offer to email it to them. For some, a paper document listing the different ways that the product is good for them
The most obvious technological advance that helped Amazon, and the one that launched the company, was the internet (Parnell, 2014). Jeff Bezos knew that he wanted to open an online business and decided to start with a bookstore due to low pricing and an existing worldwide demand (”Amazon.com, Inc. History”, n.d.). After deciding on a model, he chose Seattle as a home for his business due to its proximity to high tech workers and a large book distributor. The website opened with a database of more than one million titles, whereas many competitors only stocked 2,000, and the orders went directly to wholesalers. Amazon quickly expanded their database to 1.5 million books and started offering deep discounts which attracted many new customers.
The major categories or modes of shipment for Amazon.com in the U.S. are drop-ship, split, partnered, and postal-injection.
Looking at Bezos’s business model from an entrepreneurial standpoint is very interesting. He decided to take a very unique approach to business and in doing so he took some big risks to get where he is today. For a company like Amazon that is constantly pushing the boundaries and moving into new territory one could do a SWAT analysis for nearly every year they have been in business and it would look drastically different. For now I want to retrospectively focus on the initial plan that Bezos laid out and strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats that came with it.
It's important to realize that first and foremost Amazon.com is a technology company. Over the past years, Amazon.com grew from an online retailer into a platform on which more than 1 million active retail partners worldwide do business. Behind Amazon.com's successful evolution from retailer to technology platform is its SOA (service-oriented architecture), which broke new technological ground and proved that SOAs can deliver on their promises.

Amazon was first started in Bezos' garage and has turned into a billion dollar operation over the course of 22 years (Smith). Amazon is currently headquartered in Seattle, Washington and has branch locations all over the world.
Amazon's website vendors are a myriad of products and services. The current hardware and software infrastructure in place is optimal but supplementing new technology can help the website reach maximum efficiency. Product X is being used for softwarre. X is for hardware. Database/comm is x. SDLC can assist the aforementioned technologies by analyzing what is currently being utilized and improving it. SDLC is a system that consists of 3 phases which are system definition, requirement phase, and component design. A disaster recovery plan should be in place for current and new technoliges. The plan would include data back up and a secondary facility. The System Desgin Life Cycle can improve Amazon's efficiency and functionality.
Amazon continues to grow, expand, and improve the goods and services the company provides through strategic mergers and acquisitions. In recent years Amazon has focused on acquiring a variety of companies that bring with them technologies from fields such as: robotics, education, voice recognition, and e-reader displays. One of Amazon’s most significant recent acquisitions came in March 2012 when Amazon purchased Kiva Systems, a Massachusetts based robotics company. The deal worth $775 million dollars was made in hopes that Amazon will be able to improve profit margins though the use of the robotic packing system produced by Kiva System’s. The robotics created by Kiva allows companies to manage inventory and streamline the order fulfilment process. This move comes after Amazon’s serious push of the Prime service which promises members two day shipment for the cost of $70 a year. This decision was also driven by the fact that Amazon plans to add more warehouses to better service its customer base. Kiva’s systems will also ease the difficulty associated with tracking and filling orders in a company the size of Amazon. In the article “Inside Amazon: Wrestling Ideas in a Bruising Workplace” by Jodi Kantor and David Streitfeld, both authors noted Amazon’s business and work strategy as harsh and strict but rewarding and life-changing at the same time. Apparently, Amazon’s business model focuses on harsh and strict regulations to keep employees more motivated, productive, and innovative. In comparison to other companies who values benefits and positive reinforcement for their workers, Amazon values constant productivity for improvement and growth and compensation as a competitive aspect in workplace.
