Introduction This guest speaker name was Amanda Severson and she was originally from Washington state, but now works at Iowa State. At Iowa State, her job title is Assistant Director of Marketing & Alumni Relations at Iowa State University for the College of Business. However, she used to work for the Seattle Seahawks planning all the events for them team i.e. players, player families, kids, VIP’s, sponsors, etc. The main purpose of her presentation was to go through her power point for planning an event for the Seattle Seahawks and all that entails planning a big event like that one. Main Points One thing that I found interesting was that when she was working for the Seattle Seahawks she was working 50-60 hours a week and only getting paid $30,000. I thought it was interesting because they are a big corporation that has money and so it surprised me how little she got paid. Especially because she was working so many hours and planning a lot of events I just thought that she would make more than that. Another thing Amanda talked about that I thought was cool and interesting was that for her event for the Seattle Seahawks that they hired Uber. I did not know that you could do that for an event, but I think that it is a great idea especially if you have a bigger budget and can afford to provide …show more content…
I think this is a great and fun idea to get people to mingle and to have a good time at the event. That is also another thing she mentioned in her presentation is that there may be different types of people at your event and you want everyone to have a good time and interact with each other and get to know one another a little bit better. I loved how the interactive “host” for her event matched the theme of the event and walked people through the night and then at the end of the night queued people to start to leave by putting on pajamas and acting

“Ah, the creative process is the same secret in science as it is in art,” said Josef Mengele, comparing science to an art. He was less of an artist and more of a curious, debatably crazy, doctor. He was a scientist in Nazi Germany. In general, there was a history of injustice in the world targeting a certain race. When Mengele was around, there were very few medical regulations, so no consent had to be given for doctors to take patients’ cells and other tests done on the patients’ bodies without their consent. This was the same time that Henrietta Lacks lived. Henrietta Lacks was an African American woman who went to the doctor because she had cervical cancer. Her cells were taken and are still alive in culture today (Skloot 41). Hence, her cells were nicknamed Immortal (Skloot 41). Although many, at the time, saw no issue with using a patient without consent issue with what?, on numerous occasions since then courts have determined that having consent is necessary for taking any cells. The story of Henrietta lacks is has similarities to an episode of Law and Order titled Immortal, which is an ethical conundrum. Despite this, the shows are not exactly the same and show differences between them. Both of these stories, one supposedly fictional, can also be compared to the injustices performed by Josef Mengele in Nazi Germany.
“I would like to thank everyone involved in this conference, and the organizers in particular, for inviting me to deliver this talk. I am very obviously an outsider and wish to come to this group to talk about something that is central to all work that you people are doing.”
Everyone took their roles very serious, which was the fun part to me. When doing a project like this you want everyone being as serious as possible and playing their role as it should be. Logan Diehl (mayor) really set the stimulation when he stepped up to the podium in his suit to give an overview of the meeting and call the meeting to order. Another aspect of the stimulation I enjoyed and thought it brought realistic vibes was when the city council representatives which included myself introduced themselves and stated what ward they represented before asking their

While only a small percentage of the entire workforce was able to participate in the event, its intention was to provide employees with something to strive toward. It was also rejuvenating for those given the opportunity to attend. The event was inspiring and left you with the feeling that you work for a great company and they do care about you; so much so that they are willing to spend a lot of money and provide you with a wonderful experience . The event also focused heavily on the driving force of the company: the students and helping them to improve and change their lives. Employees returned to work feeling inspired and ready to do just that. The event provided the company with an opportunity to invest in their employees, reward them, and make them feel
“I Want to be useful or bring enjoyment to all people even those who I’ve never met, I want to go on living even after my death!” (from a Diary of a Young Girl by Anne Frank). This quote has a lot of meaning because she wanted to be remembered and I am now writing and telling about her eighty one years later. Anne Frank is a hero because she was a spirited young Jewish girl that had to go into hiding at the age of thirteen.
Many people know Susan B. Anthony as ‘the women that dared to vote.’ Many women go to vote without knowing how important she was on that decision. She is one of the most recognized historical people fighting for Women Suffrage. She was an icon on Women’s Rights history. Women regardless of age, religion, social class, fought for one objective; the achievement to get the right to vote, the right to make their own decisions. She was part of this achievement. Susan B. Anthony was an American women hero.
“When you're young you don't know anything, but you have lot of energy to express yourself. So you make a lot of mistakes and you stumble, but you also get a lot of truth from within.” Said Gilbert Hernandez. This idea shows when one is young it is necessary for that person to express their emotions to deal with any complications they might encounter. In the play, “Diary of Anne Frank" Anne is a teenager dealing with the challenges of the Holocaust. Due to this her family goes into hiding. Throughout their experience conflicts start to come up between Anne and the other residents. When facing these conflicts she turns to her father, a sixteen year old boy named Peter, and her diary. It is in this play that the author uses Anne Frank’s relationship with her father, Peter, and her diary to demonstrate the theme of expressing feelings can help cope one with societal challenges beyond someone’s control.
Inside every human being is the desire to be evil. In society, rules and order exist for the purpose of keeping human civilization from revealing our inherently immoral sides. In William Golding’s novel, Lord of the Flies, it is witnessed that when order is absent from society, people choose to act immorally. In fact, many of the boys fall into the hands of evil behaviour and are conquered by savagery. Whereas only three boys in the novel named Piggy, Simon and Ralph, stay true to themselves amongst the chaos of their rule-free society. As a result, the three boys are forced to endure isolation and abuse and are dehumanized by the other boys.
I introduced myself. I learned that the facilitator for the night is actually a member, a 30-year sober member. I was asked to enjoy refreshments and was greeted cordially by present members. The meeting was held in a church reception hall and the room was set up with 3 tables parallel from each other. I participated in this group as an observer, although, I did introduce myself at the beginning. The issue of this group was alcoholism and how to stay sober. The purpose of the group is to be a support system for those who are struggling with sobriety and those who have been successful in sobriety. The group focuses its healing around the 12-steps of Alcoholics Anonymous. This support group is open and provides no limit to the attendee
Despite starting out with a low IQ of under 70 she went on to become a teacher and earn a college degree. She is now an internationally renowned public speaker (which is no small feat considering her former sensitivity to noise and bright lights) and is also a singer and songwriter. She has also since published many other books. Her first book was on the New York Times Bestseller List for 15
Within my school, I was Co-president of the National Junior Honor Society group for our school’s annual Parking Lot Party (PLP). For this project, I, along with the help of my other officers, led a group of students to create a set of games and activities for the PLP, which came out with very good results and lots of smiles from the students who both played the games and volunteered for them. From this experience, I have learned how much I enjoy planning an event and seeing it executed successfully with positive results on my community, and I hope that I can continue to do this in YAC.
The Diary of Anne Frank is about Anne Frank’s life in the Secret Annex hiding from the Nazi’s. The diary shows how the members of the Secret Annex help each other keep hope in spite of dark times.
“Not all events are equally created. Companies must consider live events as an extension of the brand and marketing the content to build events that really engage. This is the means thinking about the experience of the customer whom you really want to portray.
