Air Resistance on a Fan Car
Problem: When a large fan is blowing air against the fan car at three different speeds (high, medium, and low), then will the overall speed be lowered?
Materials:
· Fan car (K’NEX pieces, small, battery-powered fan, wheels with tires)
· AA batteries
· Large 3-speed fan
· Timer
· Masking tape
Process:
1. Load two AA batteries into the fan that is attached to the K’NEX car.
2. Mark a starting line and a finish line two meters away from each other with small pieces of masking tape.
3. Plug in the large fan and place it approximately 5 centimeters away from the finish line.
4. Place the fan car on the starting line with the small fan facing opposite the large fan.
5. For the first test, test the amount of resistance when the large fan is off.
6. Turn the small fan on and time how long it takes for it to reach the finish line with the timer.
7. Repeat this test for three trails and record times and observations.
8. For the second test, put the large fan on a low setting and time the fan car’s progress.
9. Repeat this test for three trails and record observations and results.
10. On the third test, switch the large fan to the medium setting and time.
11. Repeat the test three more times and record observations and times.
12. For the last test, turn the fan on the highest setting and time the fan car.
13. Record observations and organize all trails and times into a table and find the average time of each trail.
Observations:
In this particular lab there weren’t many things that I observed, though I will state the small amount that I did. I saw that there was a slight incline on the surface that we were testing the car on. I also observed that the wheel alignment kept making the car veer off to the right. When the small and large fans were on I could hear their engines going. And when I turned the small fan off I found that it was very warm in my hands.
Hypothesis:
If the fan car goes up against the wind provided by the large fan, then the car will go slower with increasing resistance, because there is more opposition between the two with every increase of speed.
Data/Results:
I organized my times, trails, and averages into a table and a graph to present my information.

J.M Barrie is the author of Peter Pan, he writes Peter Pan as a boy who never grows up and lives on a floating island that’s called Neverland. In the book Barrie uses a large amount the book Peter Pan as a form of symbolism in his own life. Maggie Tonkin the author of “Whilst Birkin’s book was by no means the first Barrie biography, it was the first to focus so extensively on his family trauma, and on his relationship with the Llewellyn Davies boys. …he does not reduce Peter Pan to being merely a fictionalised account of Barrie’s psychological complexes” (Tonkin 263). This shows that there was more to the a fictional character in Peter Pan and it relates to the author more than anyone expects. Barrie created Peter Pan to write his story
Repeated steps 2-5 above using the radii of 14.3 cm, 14.6 cm, 14.9 cm, and 15.2cm respectively.
In part two and three of the experiment, the following conditions were the same as part one, but with:
At first, Peter Pan seems to be a playful children's story. With closer examination, one notices that the play not only entertains but teaches an important lesson. Do not squander your youth. At the same time, one must realize when it is time to let it go and to move on. By the end of the play, it is hard to envy Peter as much as pity him. He never touches reality. All others are allowed to experience both the magic of youth and the joy of growing up. Peter is never allowed to transition into adulthood. His life is incomplete. Though one cannot help feeling a yearning for one's own youth when Wendy's face is seen growing older. Peter should be pitied for being the only little boy who never grows up and truly gets to discover what it is like to have a family and not just pretend.
In the United States today, gun control has become a very big issue in the lives of its citizens. People arguing with each other over whether it is our constitutional right to be able to obtain and bear any kind of arms that we choose or that it only belongs to the militia. Many arguments come up over whether or not just average people can show up at a gun show and sell a gun to any person without giving them a background check first. Not only do they want back ground checks they want restrictions, and bans. Should there be bans on certain kinds of weapons? If so what kind of weapons? Should any person be able to buy a gun anytime or any place? Are people getting the right picture on what guns do for the country or are they getting deprived of information? It was shown that, “Out of 300 evening news segments, anti-gun stories outnumbered pro-gun stories by 164 to 20” (Dickens 1). This is an outstanding number that shows that the media plays a huge role in what people think about the issue of gun control. If all they see is guns involved with murders, and not involved with self-defense; how much longer will we have our guns? All of these things are factoring in to the issue of gun control and how important it is to some people and hated by others. In this paper I will lay out different views, arguments, and issues that could affect gun collectors, hunters, and the every day citizen for years to come.
The aerodynamic efficiency is the single most important element in designing a competitive car for professional racing or getting the car model on the front of a Car and Driver or Motortrend. Aerodynamics is the study of the motion of gases on objects and the forces created by this motion. The Bernoulli effect is one of the most important behind car design. The Bernoulli Effect states that the pressure of a fluid, in gaseous or liquid state, varies inversely with speed or velocity and a slower moving fluid will exert more pressure on and object than the same fluid moving slower (Yager). The goal of car designers is to make the air passing under a car move faster than the air passing over the car. This causes the air passing over the car to create more downforce than the air passing under the car creates upforce creating a force additional to the car’s weight pushing the car to the road. Large amounts of downforce are needed to keep light cars grounded at high speed and keep to cars from sliding around turns at high speeds.
His dream is to start a liquor store. This goal is significant to Walter for multiple reasons. First, he believes that going into the liquor business would help financially support the family. Second, he thinks that this would give his son a better life. In the story he tells Travis, “You wouldn’t understand yet, son, but your daddy’s gonna make a transaction...a business transaction that’s going to change our lives…” It would give Walter a sense of control and pride. In the play, Mama trusts him with the rest of the money that she inherited from the insurance. Walter is supposed to save half of the money for the house and the other half for Beneatha’s schooling. Nonetheless, he decides that he wants to fulfill his dream and takes the money to invest in the liquor business. As a result of this, his friend, Willie, steals all of the money for himself. Losing the money leaves all of the families’ dreams in jeopardy. This shows that sometimes pursuing a dream can affect more than your life. In the worst case scenario, it can even ruin other people’s
“If there’s even one thing we can do, even one life we can save, we have an obligation to try” (Barack Obama). In America, safety has always been a priority when it comes to the security of its citizens. However, one continuity that has always remained since the country was founded are guns. Guns for many Americans are a source of protection in the case of an emergency or even for sport such as hunting. In current times, the topic of gun control has become a major issue due to the rapid increase in armed shootings across the nation. There is a necessity for more effective gun laws in America as well as better enforcement when it comes to arms. The United States should place more effective restrictions on gun control laws in order to maintain
Peter Pan was born as a regular human baby boy, and he grew into a child. It was in that stage of his life that he refused to grow up and to mature as a man. He didn’t want to handle the responsibilities and the issues of becoming a grown up. All of these attributes ran through his mind, and he decided that he didn’t want to grow up at all. As a result, that took him into the fantasy
The issue of gun control is a largely debated topic. Shootings have been a major issue, yet no one has a solution to the problem. Although, In the wake of so many tragic mass shootings, like the recent Parkland, Florida shooting, the conversation tend to pull in two directions; Those who believe gun laws should be less strict and those pushing for more restrictions. The Government should ban gun control because of it leading to many shootings in the United States.
Gun control is one of the hottest and most controversial topics in our society today. “Gun control” is an extensive term that relays to all sorts of restriction on guns. Such as what firearms can be bought and sold, who can have or distribute them, who and where they can be carried, and what duties both the seller and the buyer have to report purchases to the government. Despite the fact that there are strong opinions on both sides of this argument, the facts show guns are involved in most of all violent crimes.
