SAC ISSUE: "Should same sex marriage be legalised in Australia?"
(A speech. You are a key speaker at a protest rally before the high court ruling on Same Sex Marriage Act. You are speaking to a group of like-minded individuals that you wish to motivate to take further action
Australian Marriage Act is Illogical
Good Morning Everyone, We are all here today to take action towards legalising same sex marriage in Australia. In this country, we are just moving from one form of discrimination to another. Now that racism is taking its leave, they have started to discriminate against same sex couples. Being citizens of Australia, it's our responsibility to fight for justice and equality. The high court striked down Australian Capital Territory's law on same sex marriage, as they conclude that this law is inconsistent with the current marriage laws. But the question is, how is it "inconsistent" with the current laws? Let's share our frustrations on same sex marriage and take action in support of it.
I personally congratulate Tony Abbot on becoming the prime minister of Australia, and drowning all hopes of legalising same sex marriage. I'm not blaming Abbot for the laws, but his view on same sex marriage does not position us to think that he'll take action towards legalising it. No doubt, this will bring despair to same sex couples around Australia. It’s a complicated process to persuade the government to change the laws for legalising same sex marriage, but it's definitely worth it. Frankly speaking, this protest rally is not to create fights against politicians but a movement about the strength of love, courage and a mature society that can accept changes.
According to stats, legalising same sex marriage will add an economy boost of a...

When we can acknowledge the love between an uncle and a niece, and give them legal recognition through marriage, why can't we do the same with same sex couples? In this world of lies and deception, we must accept and respect this feeling of love. To make this love a lifelong commitment, marriage is needed. Even the Beatles said it, all you need is love.
It's simple, everyone deserves the right to marry. I want you all to sign a petition after this protest rally, this petition supports same sex marriage. We've decided to fight against these laws by all means. You might be thinking, what can a few signatures do? But I can assure you, it does make a difference. Not legalising same sex marriage will continue to promote prejudice and intolerance towards homosexuals, who pay the same taxes as us, abide by the same laws, and vote for the right leader.
On 11th of February 2017, Australians will be asked to vote on whether they want to approve one of the most fundamental changes imaginable to our society. On that date, the Australian government will hold a plebiscite to determine whether Australians wish to change our marriage laws to allow parties of the same sex to marry one another.
This leads me to the next reason why same-sex marriage should be allowed across the country. Discrimination has not ever been right nor will it ever be. The idea that a heterosexual has more power than someone that is homosexual astounds me. There cannot be discrimination in the United States. The inability to unite with your loved one is difficult to say the least. Marriage is the thing some people live for. Why can’t they have
Traditionally, people involved in homosexual relationships have suffered social persecution in Australia, and there was no legal recognition of their relationship. In recent decades however, these social views have changed, and the law has adapted to reflect societies changing opinion of same-sex relationships. While there has been progress in the recognition of same-sex relationships, the ultimate goal of advocates for same-sex relationships is for them to be seen as equal to opposite-sex relationships, in all regards. The main focus point of this aim for equality is the legalisation of same-sex marriage, which is a highly controversial issue, and has proven difficult for supporters of same-sex relationships to achieve.
The Legalization of Gay Marriage in America; not for the Homosexual People, but for all People of America.
The purpose of this plan is to create a voice within the LGBT community and project that voice onto the policy makers in Washington. The focus will be on using non-violent direct action to generate the support of the general public. This will help create interest within communities to get involved with the LGBT civil rights movement. Then, the interested members will be specialized into groups that will boost same-sex policies in local government in order to snowball these policies into Washington. To finalize the policies, legal action will be taken in order to emphasize the need for nationwide civil rights for all lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender people.
In Conclusion, In conclusion, the same sex marriage should be legalized. It is human civil rights, it is encourage family’s value and increase child adoption. Two people of the same sex who love each other should be allowed to publicly celebrate their commitment and receive the same benefits of marriage as opposite sex couples. All lovers should be granted the final gift of marriage, because marriage is an inalienable right of humans.
Marriage equality rights have come a long way over the last several year, however there is still more progress to be made. Achieving gay marriage rights across the nation has been a long fight and has caused quite a great deal of controversy. While more and more people, churches, organizations, businesses, etc. are all starting to support the movement, thousands of them still do not. While achieving the goal of marriage rights in the LGBT community may seem never ending, it’s important to recognize the small wins along the way.
The influential power behind words is often forgotten or misused, but when put together in a harmonious way one’s words have the power to change the world. Anywhere from ancient Roman times to modern day America, public speaking has been an art form many have mastered and used for persuasive purposes. The most successful and effective of speeches often times have clear indications of the speaker’s motivation, approach, and purpose. These themes are very blatantly portrayed in William Shakespeare’s Julius Caesar, as well as the famous speech of the great Martin Luther King Jr.
Years before, homosexuality was not accepted in the society. The thought of coming out as lesbian or gay is an alarming thing for homosexuals. Most that were gay hid it from others and did not act upon it. In today’s modern society, there is ample argument concerning the idea of men and women being attracted to anyone other than the opposite sex. Such concepts lead into the topic recognizing the relationship between these people. Because of this, same-sex marriage is quickly becoming one of the most common topics of debate in politics, social media and religion. Luckily, this is the land of the free, and most of us have the legal and social honor to get married. Unluckily, thousands people get left out of this deal for the reason that their partner is the same gender as they are.
Firstly, I want to talk about the gay rights in Australia, in Australia, people would call gay rights “LGBT rights”, LGBT or GLBT is an initialism that stands for lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender. LGBT rights in Australia represented that Lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender (LGBT) rights in Australia have gradually progressed since the late-20th century, to the point where anti-discrimination laws protect LGBT people in many areas of employment and service access, and same sex couples enjoy many of the same rights and benefits as non-same sex couples – with the notable
Love is a phenomenon, which is purely human. Hence, if two individuals of the same sex love each other, why can they not celebrate this love through marriage? Biology should not be an argument against this.
In conclusion I argue that banning same-sex marriage is discriminatory. It is discriminatory because it denies homosexuals the many benefits received by heterosexual couples. The right to marriage in the United States has little to do with the religious and spiritual meaning of marriage. It has a lot to do with social justice, extending a civil right to a minority group. This is why I argue for same-sex marriage. The freedom to marry regardless of gender preference should be allowed.
Why isn’t gay marriage legal yet? How does gay marriage affect people that aren’t gay? Why does it matter to those people? Why can’t gay people have the same rights as straight people? Gay marriage should be legal worldwide. Gay marriage or same-sex marriage is when a man and man or women and a woman get married. Same-sex marriage impacts society in different types of ways, some people are affected by it because they think it is against the bible, others seem to have no impact or problem with same-sex marriage. However for the gay community it affects them, because in some states they are not allowed to marry the one they are in love with it. Also it impacts them because there are groups of people against same-sex marriage and the gay community is constantly being judged by people opposed to same-sex marriage. Seventeen states have legalized same-sex marriage; Thirty-three states banned same-sex marriage. Same-sex marriage provides a more stable environment for children of gay couples. Legalizing same-sex marriage does not affect or harm heterosexual marriages. Marriage is a union of love, not a union of genders.
In recent years, same-sex marriage has become a more controversial topic on whether it’s right or wrong. People should not feel coerced to agree with something they believe is wrong; clearly, same-sex marriage is immoral and unnatural. Many complications come with same-sex marriages including financial pressures, social pressures, moral pressures, and health risks.
Marriage is just one way for two people to show their love for another. Whether it is two men, two women, or a man and a woman, love is love. People against gay marriage do not have the right to deny people of showing their love for one another. Everyone deserves the same rights as Americans and also just as people. The United States of America promotes freedom, liberty, and justice for all people. Same-sex couples are many times not included when it comes to marriage rights.
