Introduction This essay is in response to the Blog which discusses the African discourse of America and the understanding of African Culture based on a Western stand point and view of Africa's situation written by Carolyn Edgar . I shall discuss key issues from the blog and image, and apply my own knowledge of post-colonial African discourse, while analyzing the image in figure 2 and its effectiveness on portraying African culture, based on the movements and the ideology. In Africa their are many tribes and Cultures, the African Discourse movements all pushed ideology of a Black enlightenment in one way or another, each having a strong sense of what it means to be black no matter in what nation. How this image loses sight of the important picture is by assuming all African culture are the same, this is shown by the semi African elements, the head lace and the face paint, in African culture each of these have meaning and are not mere accessories but rather convey a deeper meaning and rooted heritage origin explaining its uses and understanding. Since the Western culture doesn't know of the African cultures and what they represent this misses the point of their title "I Am African" and rather makes a mockery of African culture.
