Developing in single-parent families may be difficult, mostly when it comes to young children. Single-parent families can be defined as families where a parent lives with dependent children, either alone or in a larger household without a spouse or partner. With the divorce rates being as high as they are today, numerous children are growing up more and more in single-parent families. It is preferable for kids to live with both the mom and the dad happily married. However, there are several children who grow up in single-parent households who can still be well-adjusted children, teenagers, and adults. Even though there are several expectations to every rule, for the most part, children who grow up in single-parent working households can be more mature, realistic, and independent. Most of these children are mature because they often have to be responsible for themselves. For instance, if the mom or dad has to work late, most children are in control of when to do their homework or even know when to go to bed. Some children may do this and some may not. Children who are raised by both parents tend to have more attention from their parents and therefore get the emotional time they need to progress life. This could be true, but not for all circumstances. For example, it would not be beneficial at all to grow up in a verbally or physically abusive two-parent family. Normally, a child who sees this from their teachers, coaches, neighbors, families and friends. This can be extremely helpful to the single parents, since they must focus on supporting their families.
